Yep...they are all over the Commons...in every building and are every size apartment. My friend (who was actually overage) moved into a one bedroom with an underager. The apartment wasn't wellness when the original roommate left, but it became wellness when my friend moved in, because the only person in the apartment when she moved in was underage. So...you might not be able to escape it even by moving. It's easy to get around though, just keep your booze in someone elses place and drink it there. You can't have alcohol in a wellness apartment, but that's not to say that you can't be in your own apt. drunk. You'll all be fine.

Ok, never heard of this when I was there......what the hell is a "wellness" apartment?

A wellness apartment is an apartment for people that are underage. When I was there in 02/03 they had them for the Americans in Vista Way and Chatham, but not at the Commons... so don't know when they introduced that...

I've heard that it's really strict over there. For example if you're seen with an alcoholic beverage in your hand, you will be terminated immediately. Is this true???

I can totally see that happening. I've been in bars in the states where the cops have come in & checked everyone's drinks ::)

Oh no, here we go again. Yes there are rules...yes they enforce them...and yes, like all rules, there are ways around them which you will learn when you get out there...that's what the people who are already out there are for...to teach the newbies how to be bad but not get caught!!!!! You will all be fine and very drunk 24/7...well maybe not, I was only drunk Sundays-Thursdays...I took Friday and Saturdays off.

you guys have no idea i was under age but i was drunk all the time if the guards come you hide it they do cheak but never worrie there is always someone there to talk them out of it the newbies will always be looked after but tought everything lads i feel sorry for you the uk lads are hard and will tech you a thing or to ladys you have to fight to keep uk lassies up and running as ladys seem to sep a bit and do there own thing. AS for wellness its really only if there is an american in your flat who is under age.

    Love tina

For the record though, even though people DO get away with it, underage drinkers HAVE been caught, and HAVE been terminated.... I know people first hand that it happened to.... just be careful - is it worth risking losing your job, and your US VISA?

Yes they do. My friend was only a few days from his 21st when he was termed for underage drinking. Apparently, his apartment was wellness but he didn't know and his roomie who didn't like him and his Dad (?!?!) ratted him out to security and they searched the apt. and found a bottle of booze in his room. Another reason to just not keep it in your apt. If you're stupid about it, you'll get caught. If you're smart, you'll be fine.

Here's another wellness question... Can you be forced to live in a wellness apartment even though you're overage? When changing apartments, can you request a non-wellness-apartment? I know you can choose proximity to clubhouse/apartment size, but whether or not its wellness? I'm slightly freaking over this...

I have the same question as MyLittlePony.

I do not want to not be able to keep my alcohol in my own apartment when I am old enough to drink it!

    hey,

I read somewhere (may be this thread) that all the wellness aprts are mixed in with the others, apparently u wouldn't know it was a wellness unless u were told.

You shouldn't get placed into a wellness if you are over 21...unless you request to go into that apartment. My friend wanted to move and requested to move into a certain apartment and because the girl she was moving in with was under 21, it was a wellness. She kept all her booze in various apartments!! They won't waste the wellness spots on overagers.

Even though I definately want to party and have a good time, I don't think I'd mind being in a wellness apartment just because I wouldn't have to deal with having parties or my roomates doing the same. I do want to party, but living in a party apartment would probably not be too much fun. It would suck to not be able to keep alcohol, but maybe would save me money as well?
