hate to break this to u girls........... i put on roughly 21 pounds over there (stone and a half to u brits!) and i was there for 11 months, and i didnt overeat, it just creeps on, especially because u socialise a lot and drink a lot! i had fun over there tho and dont regret anything, u cant worry constantly about putting on a pound, cos thats just not living at all!!!! and within 2 to 3 months of coming home i was back to normal..... its an idea to invest in a set of scales wen u first start there so that u can keep a track of fluctuations if ur really that worried....... and dont forget, in heat, the body works to store extra fluids, ur bodies water retention is higher because its acting much like the hump of a camel! random but true let me asure u, there were very few who ventured to the gym, mainly cos its boring in there and also i got fed up of just seeing the same 3 or 4 people in there! hahaha, and plus, u have a swimming pool, which has good qualities, u get a tan and keep fit and socialise, all in one!!!!! oooh and u can take the piss outta the posers too!!! my advice??? ENJOY URSELVES OUT THERE AND DONT KEEP FUSSING OVER WEIGHT, COS UL ONLY GET BACK HERE TO UK AND WISH U WERE BACK THERE AND COULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN!!! and i also have to back up wat shannon said, i was little miss naive wen i went out there thinking "oooh im not gonna drink cos im only 18" pssshhhh, to hell with that, my throw in, i was handed a can of beer, and there was no looking back from there, i lived opposite security, yay for building 10!!!! and i never had a problem! just empty ur alcohol into plain beaker, no one checks!!!! just act sober around security! hehehehe
Have to say I'm with Sarah Jane on this one. Went down 2 dress sizes - subsequently gone back up one since being home and having a desk job but never mind.

OK I think I'm the winner for weight gain............I was there for the full 1 year and put on around 3 stone in weight!!!!!!! Seriously I'm not kidding. When I came home everyone I knew was like oh my god I can hardley recognise you and I'd gone up from a size 8-10 (people had descrbed me as skinny) to only just being about to fit size 14. I'm not totally surprised by the weight gain though, after I went into service me and my friends used to go and eat in table service resturants like every night. Also there was the eating very late at night thing which was never a good idea (ordering pizza or going to TGIs) plus there was the fact that other than when running around at work I didn't do any excersize, I was always lounging by the pool. For some reason I just stopped caring so much about my weight when i was there, partley to do with me being very suntanned which I think was flattering plus I became more confident in my personality. Anyway I have no regrets about the weight gain, I've now been home for a year and 7 months and have lost around 2 stone of the weight that I gained and am not even trying to loose the rest of it as people said i was too thin before. Just eat and drink what u like and enjoy yourself, your only gonna be there a year. Jess xx
I was kindof like Ona when i did my exchange year in upstate new york... I lost half a stone! I was constantly partying etc but i gotta agree with ona i ate what i wanted and i think its cos i barely ate chocolate out there and also its not like they have great biscuits either... Hope im as lucky in Florida! xxx
I didn't gain or lose a lot of weight. My stature just changed. Being a character, you have to do 15 pushups, 60 situps (20 to the left, 20 to the right, 20 in the center) and do other warm up exersizes. Then I would be running around and staying very active. So while I stayed around the same weight, I lost fat and gained muscle. When I was there over summer break, though, I lost about 5 lbs in 5 weeks. I tend to lose and gain weight easily, but I never vary that much. But over the summer, with how much I was working and how hot it is, I lost weight. As a side note about that water retention thing- it's true. Your body will swell a bit when it's really hot. So I don't recommend wearing your rings when you're at work. And you may notice that you're loosening your watchband a bit. Just make sure you don't eat a lot of fatty foods, eat well-rounded meals, and you should be fine.
Yes, there is a gym...but...unless you are totally dedicated, there are so many other fun things to do that prove to be great distractions. I don't know too many people that went all through their year...and most who did were on a mission with an exercise buddy. Don't waste your year in sunny Florida in the gym!!!! Go out and have fun instead. The gym will be there when you get home.
Can't believe some of you lost weight over there! There are so many hormones and other crap in the food. My Mexican roomie lost weight though. I gained 10 kilos, but I lost them immediately after coming back home to Norway. I know I'll have to think of a plan this time, I don't want to blubber up again...
Thanks Emma for starting this thread. This has been something that I've been a little concerned about. I have spent the last little while losing a considerable amount of weight and the last thing that I want is to put all that hard work to waste. I'm not gonna freak out over 10 lbs or something, but I don't want to have to buy a new wardrobe down there because I have to. I'd like to buy lots of new stuff because I want to. Living in Canada, we don't have a lot of easy access to the fat free foods that the US has, so I'm hoping that might help me out while I'm there. I'm also not taking a car and I love to walk, so I'm hoping that will help too. Of course, my only problem will be the drinking, I'm sure. Just to stir up the conversation a little, for those who lost weight in Florida, were you in merch or f&b? Maybe running around in f&b will help? Sandra
I was "friends" with Mickey Mouse. So, as I said in a previous post, my days were pretty much working out all day, for anywhere from 6 hours to 15 hours.

8)Yeah...I admit it. I love my job. Hate the losing weight, though. I'd rather stay the same than lose any more. I've lost weight at uni in this one year, and I'll need to gain some back before I do heavy work again.
I never said sexercise! Saying you're "friends" with a character means that you know them like you're their clone or something...*innocent look*
Good for you! Keeping the Disney Magic up, even here! Have you ever been "friends with" a graduation Mickey?
