It depends where you're working and what the labour situation is like there. Right now in Canadian F&B we have WAY too many people on podium, so you're unlikely to get overtime (or even close to 40 hours), but if you're a server you could be working mandatory 6's (6 days a week), or long hours because they don't have enough.

    Woah,

So if your a server, you may only just get one day a week off all the time? wow thats mental! and extremly tiring! Anything for mr Mickey Mouse!

haha yeah but you don't even get to be a server until after 6 months or so i think. you have to sort of work your way up.

Yeah, it all depends on the situation... When I was there last time, we got an option to sign a paper that said we accepted not getting overtime paying as a server... And all of us signed it, because it meant that we would be able to work more double shifts and stuff.

so you worked overtime but didn't get paid more for it??
do you usually get paid time and a half if you work overtime? what about holidays? and is over 8 hrs in a day considered overtime or is it over 40hrs in a week?

I think it was over 40 hours a week... Yeah we worked overtime without extra pay.... But the reason we wanted to do it was that we were allowed to work more, and for servers that means a LOT of more in tips, so we didn't really loose anything by signing that paper ;)

yeah i thought so. s are tips good at WDW. i'm a server now so i know it varies but do they have auto grats there? plus i would think that ppl are feeling extra generous/happy at WDW...either that or you get stiffed cuz guests are already spending a fortune lol

I think most restaurants at WDW only have included grat if there's a party of 8 or more... or if they're on the dining plan... What tips you get depends on which restaurant you work at... Us Norwegians get great tips, because we're a character dining with the disney princesses :)

Oh wow, that so cool. So how much to get in tips each day? Is the pay good as a server?

    the wage for a server is between $2-$3 /hour cuz it's a tipped position....something like $2.30/hr i think??

that is really bad pay. do they not have like laws against pay in the states like in the UK? i do not think that is fair for what use do?

No, all people in tipped positions get a very low pay. It's more usual to tip in the US, and people live of off their tips...

In Norway we would get an average of $200 in tips a day, often more. The best I got in tips in one day was $450 :)

there was a whole thread somewhere in the applicants discussion about how much money to take. I think I'll take maybe $500 cash plus amy AMEX and VISA, maybe I won't take that much cash cuz I almost always use credit cards. They can be dangerous though...especially with me in The World of Disney store lol

Take as much as you can, you don't want to be limited on what to do because of money ;) I'm just bringing my visa there...

im going to take my visa aswell but purely for emergency usage!! ill go crazy otherwise!! lol

im aiming for round 500$ nd to keep some money in the uk to keep payment off my visa going lol!

I do not particularly want to take my Visa but i cannot take all cash with me. I might see if i could get an account especially for going out there so i am not charged a bomb in intrest because i am abroad. I know my parents have spent a fortune on their visa in the US and they have never used them again. I think i might take $600 if i get accepted. Depends on how much money i can save by that time.

im hoping to take around $500 for cash and over £1000 in back up. though if the dollar keeps getting stronger i will have to have more.

does anyone come back with money lol?

It depends where you work. Tipped F&B workers make A LOT of money, and definitely bring some back with them, Merch, attractions, and untipped F&B... not as much unless you're REALLY good with managing your money and don't spend much.

I was hoping to be bringing back a lot of my money but the more i think about it, the more i know i will not because i will want to spend it. But would it be worth it if the exchange rate is rubbish?
