Hehe, that shouldn't be a problem... One manager almost got angry at me once because I worked outside for 3 hours without drinking anything in the hot sun. I don't think any manager has the right to deny you that, because if anything it's a bad show if one of the CM's pass out onstage...

What role are you going to be doing that's onstage?

    On stage means working.
Like if you're out in the parks while you're working you're "on stage"
sort of like everyone is a "cast member"

But yeah they can't deny you water especially in the Florida heat ;)

Yeah, it's called onstage because Disney considers us as a part of their show ;) That's why we're Cast Members and not emplyees...

on a really hot summer day I was working in the kitchen at restaurantosaurus wich is a quick service location in Animal Kingdom. Didn´t have much sleep the night before and skipped breakfast and they assigned me a position wich was very hot so i dehidrated and they had to call an alpha unit for me ¡¡

    Wow, that's bad!

I didn't understand once why my manager almost got angry at me when he found out that I'd been working for 3 hours in the outside beercart in norway without drinking. He said that it was better that I just took one of the Dasani bottles and drank it instead of fainting for lack of water and getting sick because of the heat. Later I found out that one of the other girls had fainted onstage just the day before for the same reason :p

If you're working outdoors they give you a water bottle and you can keep refilling it. If you're indoors you can always go backstage and grab a quick drink (at Le Cellier we're also allowed soda). So there's no reason you should ever be dehydrated!

The thing with dehydration is that you could be dehydrated for several days without knowing it. You need to keep drinking water all day long, not just when you are working outside, cause thats when dehydration happens. In my case, we have had a very hot week and not much sleep (I was in my final days ...so you tend to try squeeze every minute left on disney) and so it was the sum of all that made me dehydrate¡¡

Well, when i am on holiday all i really drink is water throughout the day because i need to keep myself hydrated so i have energy for the day. I can drink a lot of water in a day. I just love the heat and due to the heat i drink water and then i dont eat as much and so i lose weight, it is great. But i also love the heat for the fact we dont get it in freezing Scotland and i can lie outside then, and sit in the sun without being cold.

how long do you get for breaks out there? I'm guessing it depends on the length of the shift?

Also can you ask for more shifts on the ICP?

  12. You are meant to work 2 hrs and then have a break. If you have to wait for more than 2 1/2 hrs then you have to call a manager and they will sort it out for you. You are allowed to drink water on stage as long as it is in the water bottle carrier thing that they provide for you. It really isn't healthy to not drink whilst you are on stage as you aren't meant to leave your area where you aren't meant to move from unless someone comes to releave you or your manager says that you can.

thats really short..sorry here its four hours (though my work try to give it to me after fifteen minutes into a nine hour shift). which reminds me, how long is the average shift?

How much break you get depends on how long your shift is. In norway f&b we could just ask the manager if we could go on break when we wanted to...

I can decide when i want to go on my breaks. How long do you normally get on your breaks?

And as Freckles had said, what is the average length of a shift on the ICP program?

Hard to remember, but when you work either 6 or 6 1/2 hours you get 30min, and then you get more when you work more that that too...

oh well, thats alright. Thats the same as my work.

  19. If you work 6 hrs then you get 2 15 minute breaks though if you work 6 4/5 hrs then they have to by law give you a 15 and a 45 minute break. Anyway, with most roles you can get a way for 10 mins to get a drink of water etc.
You can be working any length of shift. I work between 6 and 13 hr shifts and we usually close so start around 4 in the high season and then staying til closing.

is it easy to get over time? like say you're working 8 hrs already but then they need you to stay longer (over 8hrs in a day is overtime there right?) cuz i found that at work they won't want you to stay if you're going to go into overtime cuz they want to cut labor costs etc but I guess Disney isn't that stingy?? lol what with the millions of $$$ they rake in everyday ;D
