Thanks Vicky and Amelia - your posts did make me feel better I think it was just the way that Nick worded his second email to us (clearly a lot of people had emailed YJ asking for clarification) - he made it seem as if all the people who'd been given dates were the best, and us lot might be given a place if they could find one, rather than that we would get a place eventually. Following on from your email yesterday we just wanted to clarify the status of your application for the Cultural Representative Program. At this time Disney has made a number of offers for positions that they have available for 2011 and 2012. Currently Disney does not have the full number of open positions for 2012 available. We anticipate receiving details of these additional positions by the end of August 2011 at the latest. Your application is still being considered for the remaining positions for 2012. This means that your application could have the following outcomes based on your interview with the International Recruitment Team. You could be offered a position on the program for the remaining 2012 start dates between January and December You could be placed on an additional waiting list for a start date on the program You may not be offered a position I don't know. I understand he was trying to clear things up for us, but it made me feel somewhat disheartened
I was feeling really upset yesterday because i didn't understand what i'd done wrong that i didn't get a date yesterday but then Nick's second email kinda cheered me up a bit. It's more like they're waiting for more dates to be announced and people will still get dates . I still feel like i wasn't good enough but i wasn't in the group that got a straight no so we just have to wait
Hii, I've been waitlisted too, i'm glad to find others have to because i thought that was there polite way to fobb me off! I just want to know now, hopefully looking at everyones comments we will get places...I wanna go so bad!! xx
Hey guys Im on the waitlist too i absolutely hate it I just want a date so much so so so so much i cant help thinking I just wasnt good enough :'( were all gunna do it tho I have a feeling I just hope that feeling comes true!!! xxxxxx
Aw guys, makes me feel disheartened to read through your posts because your comments echo what us 2011 waitlistees were saying when we first found out. But don't lose hope. The good news is you're certainly Disney material and they do want you! Don't lose sight of that, but I don't think Disney can forecast visitor numbers so far in advance - hence why you've been waitlisted to fill in those dates when they finally publish them. But there is bad news. I won't lie to you it's hard, I waited 6 months to get off and I found it a struggle because I just wanted to make plans, but in April I found that I was starting this October, only then to get an email to offer me an earlier date in September because it was understaffed! Just goes to prove you just don't know when your luck will change. Just keep your spirits high and keep patient (easier said than done) but, putting it into perspective for you - in the past, almost every waitlistee bar one or two has been given a date so don't worry! Just don't be picky with what dates you can and can't go and you should be fine. Just think of it as an acceptance with date pending. Speading the hope, love and pixie dust =] I'm sure I'll be seeing you all out there! Dan.
Thank you for posting this . It's really nice to hear people telling us it will get better Hope we can all see you out there
Hey guys. I was waitlisted until further notice in August too. However got called by Yummy and offered a role starting 26th July this year so got less than 4 weeks before i go. Shows that the waitlist isnt a no. Problem is i got so much stuff to do in a very short space of time.
Got F & B. I am pretty excited. Dont quite think its sunk in as got so much to do. Trying to book flights just 4 weeks in advance arent easy or cheap.
Just thought I'd bump this thread in case there were any other UK waiters about. Seems like there's only about 7 of us on facebook and I was wondering if anyone was still around?
Are there really only 7 of us? That's a little depressing! Although I suppose it means, with so few of us, there's quite a strong chance that if dates do come up, we'll get them! I mean, everyone else has already got dates! Still, I'm kind of starting to accept that I'll have to reapply in January
Yeah I think we're down to about seven now in the group . I'm accepting I'm going to have to apply again. I'm a little bit heartbroken I won't lie . But we never know, we just have to keep our fingers crossed
Hang in there guys, I have my fingers crossed for u! U never no what the future holds or how things r gunna pan out. Everything happens for a reason, so if u do have to reapply then maybe it will be ur time and ul get a date! I still have faith in everyone on the waitlist, u all deserve a place and they do want u, that's why uv got so far! I'm not sure if my friend is counted in that 7 but he is on the fb group and still waiting... Stay positive and keep us updated! xx
Hi everyone! I was on the Oppporunity List for almost 6 months and I got a start date Don't worry! For those of you who feel that you weren't good enough, that is simply not the case. Disney only gets X amount of spots for the first round of acceptance. If you are on the opportunity list, they want you, it's just they weren't given enough spots for all the people they liked right away. Only 3 people were given start dates on the original day of getting results. Keep your heads up
See, with us, LOADS of people (roughly half of those who went to the F2F) got given dates on the original results day, and almost all of the waitlisted people since then have been given dates as well. I don't know, I just feel like our circumstances are different to previous waitlistees, because of the fact that Yummy have changed the system (at least for UK applicants) that now means there's only one round of applications per year instead of 2. Guess we'll keep waiting and see what happens ;D
Yeah I think we're waiting for drop out places now rather than any new ones appearing. We'll be hanging in there best we can. Apart from the whole going slightly insane part
hey guys! so I just got my E mail from Disney that doesnt really make things clear for me at all! Did your mail say anything in specific about being on the WAITLIST ?! Because mine doesnt. And it doesnt say anything about being CONSIDERED either- it says I have SUCCESFULLY PASSED my interview! which is a good thing right? But then it says they cant give me a date yet, because they wait for more positions and cancellations...and that kind of sounds like being waitlisted... Can you guys help me understand pleaseeee??
Don´t worry!! I got the same mail 6 months ago!! Congratulations! You can start as a CR but at the moment Disney haven´t a departure date for you!! Do you have this mail?? "On the behalf of Walt Disney World, we are happy to announce you that you have successfully passed your interview for the Walt Disney World International Cultural Representative program. For the moment, we don’t have a departure date available for you. It may take some time (some weeks or months) before we have a cancellation or more available positions. Please be sure we will call you as soon as an available position comes up to give you a departure date and explain the departure process. In general, depending on the cancellation, we try to make offers at least 2 months before the departure in order for you to get organized. " I received 6 weeks after this mail my departure date!! I think we will see us in Orlando
