I emailed to ask about the interview process and heres what Nick Jacks replied with..

'If you are successful through the pre-screen selection you will be invited to a final interview with Universal Orlando Representative which will be held in Manchester over two days in late February.'

Im sooo excited about this opportunity, after not getting into Disney Im fully deturmined to get this!! I LOVE Harry Potter aswell, so to be working at the Wizarding World this summer would be fantastic!!

My interview is on Monday at 2.45pm, very nervous about being one of the first ones but it was the only day I can do.

If you didnt get Disney then I know how you feel, so GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!

Hey guys just out of interest, how are you raising the money for Universal? Cos when I did Disney I just managed to raise the money for all the fees and flights but with Universal theres a big fat $1000 odd fee on top of everything and it barely covers anything. So even if i managed to afford the flights with my loan, how do you pay for that? :s Do you think it would be appropriate to do fundraising? Cos i know it isn't really volunteering or anything so i'm not sure how to even go about getting the money so i've tried not to get my hopes up in the slightest for the program x

i'm getting a job as soon as I get back to university, between now and then hopefully earn about £700 and then kinda just squeeze out whatever's left of my loans/grants- the only problem is it needs to be paid "within 7 days of accepting your position" which is what? March-ish? :s I was hoping money/budget would have been the same as the ICP, I don't know where the $1085 charge came from, I guess maybe use an overdraft or another loan? or a piggy bank?

hey guys, just found this which is great!!!! applied for universal too so excited... luv harry p it would be amazing to work there. Called Yummy Jobs about it before i applied and they said that universal dont sponsor visa which is why there is a fee. It covers visa, insurance and another fee but didnt really understand what it was. I spoke to Becky she was really nice so i guess you can jsut call them.

Piglet tbh I don't know how I'm going to raise the money. Mum said shed pay about £400 (whatever bunacs work america fee is cos I was so gutted when disney said no she suggested that and shed pay the fee as I have no money...) For the rest I'm not sure. Guess the money from tescos will go on it instead of next years rent??
I guess you could fundraise but as it isn't a charity I don't know how many would be willing to sponsor. Increase overdraft maybe?

And the other visa fees thing is something you pay with disney anyway - they sponsor the visa (which we're paying for here), then you pay the embassy a sevis fee and the visa fee to get the visa same as disney. It sort of works, but is more expensive I know. Ugh. So complicated!!!

I take it we are all preparing for the interview? What questions do we think they will ask us?

So seems like were all in the same boat, skint students! lol

I already have a maxed out overdraft at £2500 and i live in a home so my rent is permanent rather than ending on a tenancy. argh :/ another thing is they offer u 30 to 40 hours a week but disney offer 40 to 60 hours yet Disney rent cost me $70 a week when i was there and Universal are charging like $110! plus you have to pay to get to work instead of free transport.. that just tells me i need to save even more spending money to take with me lol. It's just such a shame cos i really wanna work at Harry Potter World :p & I miss Florida!!

I think there is only one way of doing this... I need to win the lottery! ha.

So are we definitely going to be working in Harry Potter world, or like just everywhere in universal? it'd be pretty awesome to put on those robes etc but i wouldn't mind working anywhere in universal

i'm currently crapping myself about the money situation, i'm terrible with money!!

good luck to everyone on monday, please let us know how yous got on and if possible what questions they asked you so you could ease my mind a little bit, thaaaaaank you :)

Hmm.. as far as saving money when our last loan comes in after easter I get an extra £600 that doesnt go towards my accommodation so I guess that could go towards it, I cant increase my overdraft anymore but Im thinking about saving money now as Im working, my parents will probs end up giving me some of the money and maybe my grand parents?? To be honest, I really havnt thought about all the details yet, I dont want to get my hopes up, just want get the first interview done with first.

I have no idea what they will be asking us, maybe similar to Disney e.g. Why do you want to do the program? etc. But it might be different because its Universal. And Im really not sure if we'd be placed in Harry Potter World, just where we're needed I guess.

Good luck to everyone who is tomorrow.. Im SOOO nervous!! XX

Soooo I just had my interview about half an hour ago. She called 9 mins late, and it lasted about 15 mins (she called home first though even though I'm at uni - mum pointed her towards calling my mobile as a better plan of action!)

EDIT: Yummy asked me to take down the questions, so I have done. :)

It was more like a chat really - and I may have overplayed my Harry Potter nerd a bit.... but I think it went OK. Now to wait and see if I get a face to face :-\

Good luck for everyone in your interviews! Hope this helped!

Yeah mine was pretty much the same as yours katiej22. But they asked me Why I think Universal should employ me? I wasnt expecting a few of the quesitons like the Customer Service one which I really hadnt planned for causing me to think really quickly off my head. I also went crazy when she mentioned Harry Potter (Im currently halfway through reading all the books for a second time) and she was laughing so that was good I hope!! What did you say when they asked Describe yourself in one word? Its always a hard question.

I REALLY want a face to face so GOOD LUCK to everyone and I hope we all get good news on February 2nd!! (When they send the emails out) XX

I just had my interview as well, the questions were quite similar but wasn't asked to describe myself in one word. Nick said that there was about 1000 applicants to the program and they are looking for 50-100 people.
He also explained the fees to me and what I don't really get is why the program is about 200 pounds more expensive than bunac, because they sponsor your visa through ymca, and it's not the employer either so it should be about the same price....
    But anyway...fingers crossed :)
