Aww yay for your Disney pack! I cant wait just to get the letter that says 'your in'! Ive been trying to work out insurance, mobile, internet etc. Most worried about my car as I have it on finance :s. Does it say where you will be staying? Where can you get the pass from? Will be so worth it...I'll see if I can get any discounts as I work in the travel industry.

Sophi, Will be awesome!! Southwest air is not too bad but I've never flown with them.

Hey Stu. Thats amazing you got the e-mail, Congrats!

Wooooo got my Disney pack this morning :D Its exciting, read through it all like 3 times!

Really happy that everyone is up for the Universal Pass aswell, im so ridiculously excited about seeing the Harry Potter area !!!

I havent got my insurance yet :/, are you guys going to buy for the whole year, or just 4 months and then opt into the Disney insurance?

I was thinking it might be easier to get the whole year because then it covers travel and medical and everything, and it means it's paid for before you go rather than coming out of the paycheck. Insure and go are pretty good and it is about £230 for the year!

That is quite a bit to spend on the the insurance. What does it cover? Do you have to declare any existing medical problems etc? Cant wait to start booking things x

I think you have to??? but you'll only have to pay more if you have something that is really problematic. I have thyroid disease and I don't think that affects it too much because treatment is relatively cheap- same with things like diabetes, asthma.

If anyone knows more info on this would be good though...also about prescriptions and stuff while out there? x x x

I dont think I have to delcare anything as my last op was 3yrs ago and after 2 the scars are classed as fully healed ... but I do have a metal plate in my leg. I think I'm just going to go to my docs and get a yrs supply of any meds lol.

Aww no that sucks about thyroids, but at least it doesnt affect you too much :)

I hate to break this to you guys, but you have to declare any pre-existing conditions to your insurance companies. You will also find that a lot of places WON'T cover pre-existings, regardless of how cheap/expensive they might be. You have to remember that drugs in America are a lot more expensive than over here. A nice example: to get an EpiPen in the UK is covered under prescription fees, so they're roughly £7 for two. In America, the same EpiPen can cost $20 (~£14) for one, and that's what you pay IF you have good insurance. So that's 4 times as expensive.

I don't want to worry you or anything, but you're better off knowing what American medical insurance is like than getting something that doesn't cover you and then having to fork out for medication that isn't covered. Another tip: if you do have pre-existings and know (or it's highly likely) you're going to have to get some meds at some point, make sure whichever policy you go for has £0 excess. Otherwise you find that you'll be forking out a lot of money that isn't necessary.

Do you know what the time limit is? I have previoulsy phoned up insurance companies and anything that was more than 18months/2 yrs was not classed, as long as it doesn't include any ongoing treatment incl meds and have been discharged from the hospital. . . .

I heard meds are so much more expensive there. Canada is cheaper >< lol x

At a guess, the time limit would depend on each individual company. My advice is to ring them up and ask.

oooh, thanks for the heads up vikki. I'm hoping of getting a good supply from docs here by getting some when i finish uni and then re registering at home so i can get more...but they can't give loads, but its annoying cos I get it free here. Thyroxine is pretty cheap though, thankfully....oh well, i suppose I'll have to fork out for it... x x

I have a pre-existing condition that most likely means I'm going to be paying a fortune for insurance.
I was actually told I needed knee surgery the day before I got the call...but I'm putting it on hold for a year! The recovery time is about a year so even if I had it now I wouldnt be ready by december. I just hope I wont need treatment out there....$$$$$!

I am so sad i have already started buying stuff for Disney but i thought it would be good to spread the cost over a few months instead of buying it all at once!

Yeah I think I might get a duvet before hand a vacuum pack- I've heard ikea do really lightweight cheap ones so may invest. Might bring my uni bedding too for ease. But will defo. be heading to wallmart for cushions and other home comforts...
