Yep - we have been at that time of the year for the past 6 or 7 years or so...just wish they started the halloween parties on the 4th like they used to - nowadays we tend to miss the first one by about 2 or 3 days. Last year, the first MNSSHP was on the day we flew home!! :'( Our fave time of year is last week in October and first week in November because you get to see all the parks decked out for Halloween, then briefly with no decorations, and then Magic Kingdom gets decked out for Christmas! Stupid Uni not having half terms meant we had to stop that though!

It would be helpful if they told us the start and end dates of the program, application closing date, and likely interview dates in advance - would make life so much easier!

Oh my days, don't get me started on Christmas in the parks. It's so freaking awesome. And that massive tree as you walk onto Main Street in Magic Kingdom! Disney knows how to decorate!

And in due time Jason! haha we need distractions to occupy the time dangit!

    Hey all!

Wasn't expecting applications to be open so soon, only a month away!

Definitely need to take my time to prepare for this year as last year I was late and had to rush so got rejected.

Little about me: I'm Andrew, started at Newcastle University last year but dropped out and I'm waiting to start Information Technology at Leeds this September!

Disney certainly does know how to decorate!!! I wish they had some sort of festival in the summer! I went to one of their Pirate and Princess Parties in August once, but they didn't last long :(

We do, we do! But don't worry guys, exactly ONE MONTH until we can apply!!! :D

    Hi Andrew!!!

Good luck for this year - you can take your time this time! ;D What are the roles you want to do most?

    Hello Hello :)

I'd love to do attractions most, Test Track or Mission: Space would be my main choices as well as pretty much anything at Magic Kingdom.

I'm a bit confused of the roles though, sometimes I see Operations and Attractions as being separate roles but sometimes attractions is under operations?

Apart from operations and attractions though I'd say merchandise and either QS or FS F&B.

I think attractions and operations used to be separate, but not enough people chose operations, so now they've grouped them together, so you could either get an attraction or an entrance turnstile.

Just to jump in, yeah I also think this seems to be the case. They are now grouped however it looks like they did used to be separate. Anyway my choices are pretty much the same as everyone else's, my top choice is attractions then merch (would love to be doing merch in magic kingdom) and then WSF&B. Although I wouldn't mind FSF&B either. I'm trying to recall the other roles, can't think of anything else other than character attendant and costuming. Do they still offer the roles in the hotels, such as cleaning the rooms etc? Wouldn't overly mind doing those but would definitely prefer to be in one of the parks if I could help it!

Ah I see, thank you both. I've found why I was confused though, the Australia/NZ program does have them listed separately (alongside a few other roles) whereas the summer program has them together.

    Summer Program Roles
    Aus/NZ Roles

So to answer your question adc, the hotel roles are only for Aus/NZ it seems!

A lovely person whos been on the ICP before posted a list of roles available a bit further back on this thread (page 6 ish I think). You can be housekeeping, and I know someone who was last year. If you do merchandise, you can also be at a hotel I think, and also Downtown Disney - there's no guarantee you'll be in a park :(

Oh right I'll have to have a look for that :)
And yeah I've heard that :( Obviously just the fact you're on the program would be amazing but I can't say I wouldn't be a tad disappointed if I wasn't in a park :(

You've got a point mate! But honestly, the experience will be 110% worth it! A lot of people have stated that they were disappointed with their role at first, but once they got to know people, it was brilliant and they wouldn't have traded it for the world!

  13. Hey guys an ex-ICP here. Just to clarify - in merch and food roles, you can indeed be anywhere over the resort. It totally depends on where the need is. I sent an e-mail once I'd been accepted, requesting two merch locations - and I got my second choice. So if you are desperate to be somewhere, it doesn't hurt to mention it in interview or in a follow-up :)

Also - contrary to what some people think, you can work in hotel roles. My friend last summer worked in a role called, bell services or something like that - it may have come under Front Desk operations. She had to help with arrivals, baggage, the Disney buses etc and by far, she had the best job! She had amazing hours and got to know some of her guests really well - we were all very jealous.

Yeah exactly :) As I said it would be a little disappointing, but I'm sure the overall experience of working at Disney would outweigh the slight disappointment at not necessarily being in a park! ;D

Oh that's really interesting, thanks for posting that :)
Now I'm not sure whether to include hotels in my top roles!!

By the way does anyone know, for the face to face interview is this still done in pairs or is it singular now? As I was reading some recent blogs and got the impression that it is just you and the recruiter?

I think they must tell us the roles available at some point, because some (such as recreation and character attendant) aren't available every year.

As for interviews, there is a group interview (pre-screen) and the interview with the Disney recruiters is usually in pairs I think. Don't know for sure, but I would have thought that would stay the same, as it[s Yummy Jobs that are having a change about, not the Disney recruiters. :)

Ok so i've filled in the motivation box now! I've just cut and paste a few of the key parts from the cover letter and profile part of my CV and then edited them slightly so they fit together and flow. I've referred them to the cover letter/CV for more info, and i've also put in there when i'll be unavailable.

I have no idea if this is right or not, and i'm still hoping they get rid of this box with the new application system, but someone posted it could just be a summary of your cover letter, so i'm hoping this is ok! Thoughts?

Yeah I'm still panicking over this section a little...
Although when I emailed yummyjobs they told me this - ''Greetings Alex,

Many thanks for your email. For your CV we do welcome you to include a cover letter, but also would recommend to complete the motivation question as well. If you do include your cover letter, you are able to then just put a short summary in the motivation box.

    Have a Great day!
    Kristen''

So what I think you've done is perfect really, that's what I plan on doing also! :)
Also seeing as they told me this last week, I assume the motivation box will be staying!

Excellent, thank you!! Everything is uploaded/sorted now, so i've decided i'm going to leave it all, and not look at it again until the new application system opens. (Well i'll try not to look...we'll see how long that lasts.... :p )

Ooh, since it appears you can have a role in the hotels I'd move that up to my third choice above QS/FS F&B.

Time to go look at redoing my CV for this year.. :D
