Woah just got back from work and you guys have been busy! I'm trying to catch up all your posts I think we all need to stop stressing, we have all worked hard and put time and effort into our CV's and cover letters so that should shine through. Hopefully all our hard work pays off! I am a little nervous about the new online application, hoping its not too different but hey it might be a whole lot easier
so on a more positive note, whats everyone's reasons for applying? apart from the fact that it's DISNEY! & it would be freaking AWESOME!
Ooops sorry! Only just saw this! Yeah UKC And yeah I agree with what people are saying about the new web layout, really hoping it isn't vastly different! Does this mean it's kinda pointless to sign up to their website before August 1st?
Sweeet! that means we're neighbors/rivals lol i go CCCU well i had already signed up before i new there was a new website i don't thing log in detail will change
Wow, it's amazing how much I've missed in a few days! Haha sorry I haven't kept in touch guys, I've been working with my cousin for the last few days, so no laptop! I just want to say hi to all of the new guys! I'm Steven, 20 years of age, and will be starting Aeronautics and Astronautics at the University of Southampton this year. Btw, if you guys are all stressing about your CV, I am more than happy to swap and we can give each other some constructive criticism (not saying that your CVs aren't perfect!).
Wondered where you were Stevey-boy! Love to swap at the weekend...there are a few typos I know are there I need to sort out first, but a fresh pair of eyes would be great!! So glad i'm back on here now...back to the excitement.....at home........had a bit of a pants day at school.....I had 2 children mess themselves (#1 AND #2s!) AND I had a kid throw up everywhere.........the joys of working with children!!!! (Just thought i'd share that with everyone...)
Oh dear, I don't think I could handle that! Have the biggest phobia of vomit ever :-X I think if I was ever lucky enough to work at Disney but had to clean up someones sick, I think I'd have to force myself to zone out or something So I really feel for you!! Anyway just incase anyone was wondering, I contacted yummyjobs regarding the whole cover letter thing and they said they do welcome cover letters (I know we all knew that but still) and if we do include one we can just include a summary of it in the 'Motivation for taking part' box on the application. So that's just helpful to know I guess
Haha it has actually felt like it's been ages! But it's good to be back, Cannon Ball (been trying to come up with something for ages, that's the best I've got) That sounds like a good plan, I'm actually becoming overly obsessive about my CV and change the littlest things about 7548302 times a day, so another person giving tips would be a major relief! And that day sounds like the worst...ever. I struggle cleaning up after my dogs, let alone children! Well let's hope you don't have to respond to a "Code V" if we make it! And that is very helpful, just wish we could all apply as soon as. I'm getting so anxious with this wait!
Haha yep hopefully! And yeah me too, the wait is driving me crazy, it's getting to the point where I'm literally at night having dreams about the interviews and working at disney, very weird!!! :-\ I'm also stressing out over this cv loads as well, I'm constantly changing bits etc. I've heard the cv is the bit that helps them cut out most of the applicants so I guess it really does have to be perfect! If you don't mind me asking, how many words is your cover letter? Keep fretting that mine is going to be either too long or too short!!
Not a problem, mate! My cover letter is just over 400 words, set out in these small paragraphs: What I'm requesting and why Skills that set me apart for the attractions industry What I'm studying in uni and how the program will benefit me Present job and skills that I have taken from it Top choice of roles and why I would fit in to these Summary of who I am Concluding statements I know it sounds like a lot, but it isn't as much as it looks And as I said earlier, I am more than happy to swap cover letter and CV in order to compare and give tips
Okie dokie, thanks for that And yeah, I may take you up on that offer! I just want to fine tune my cv and cover letter a little more so that it's the best it can be, then i'll send you a message or something! Thanks again for all of your help
haha Cannon ball....love it So am I! I must have spent a good eight hours on it in total...I just keep looking over and over it and finding something to change every time! Definitely in danger of over thinking it! haha it was a pretty rough day yesterday....I could put that on my CV "Can have a job on Mission Space as i'm used to being thrown up on.....can handle protein spills!" Today made up for it though...got to dress up as Jack Sparrow and we had a pirate party! ;D
What are everyones top 3/top 5 roles? Do they usually ask in the interviews what your top 3 roles are or top 5? I've heard different things for different years?
No idea how many they ask for, but my top 4: 1) Attractions 2) Merchandise 3) Character Attendant 4) Full service F&B I don't actually particularly fancy any of the other available roles, but i'd take anything if I were offered a place!! ;D
Haha yeah dude, I saw the Facebook pic! It looked pretty awesome tbh! You've got good days, then there are awesome ones My top roles are Operations (especially attractions), Merchandise, Quick Service F&B, Character Attendant, and then Costuming. I would prefer anything in that top three, but let's be honest, working anywhere in Disney would be beyond amazing. Ecstasy wouldn't even come close enough to the feeling I'd get if I made it that far
Exactly!!! Also, do you reckon i need to put that i wouldn't be available for interview during my holiday dates? It sounds a bit too much like tempting fate to me, but I would hate to have to turn down an interview because i'm at WDW on holiday!!
Um it depends mate! I would contact YummyJobs directly, rather than just put it in a CV, just in case they glance over it! When do you go again?
Leave 22nd August, don't land back in the UK until 7th September. I'd have thought they'd keep the applications open until at least the end of August wouldn't they? So in theory they shouldn't start interviews that soon? If i'm lucky enough to get one that is! I think last years were around the 23rd ish!
That's a brilliant time to go, because the last week in August is when most American kids get back to school. So I hope you enjoy a five minute wait on all the rides! And I believe you're right mate, I can't see them leaving applications open for more than a month, because that would mean even more people to sort through I reckon you'll be safe, but double check after applications close!
