Its only been 15 days if you count from when applications opened! 5 since they closed. So nowhere near quite a while Remember they have A LOT of applications to get through...don't expect to hear anything until mid next week.
Mid next week at the earliest. Last set on Jan applicants didn't hear anything until the 28th. We've got another week or more to wait yet.
I am just wondering if i should apply now. If i apply now will i be able to be on the program this year or the next? If you are living with your parents how did you break the news to them or going to break the news to them once you have been accepted?
The applications are actually closed at the moment. If you look at Yummy's site it says "Program not available". The next set of applications doesn't open until June or July, and they won't look at them until August, so I'd wait until a LOT closer to the time. That way, your CV will be up to date instead of 6 months out. A lot can happen in 6 months after all. Oh, and applying now (or in July) means departure dates in early 2011. So February - July ish. As for parents, I'm lucky enough to not live with them. Either way, if I did, I'm old enough to know what I want to do, and I'm saving up all the money I need myself. I don't think they could stop me going. Although, if you're living with them, they'd probably want to know why you disappeared off to London for a day for the face to face interview, so telling them you'd applied in the first place might be a plan, rather than waiting until after being accepted. Personally, I won't be telling my parents until after being accepted, and it'll probably go along the lines of "Mum, I won't be coming home for Christmas this year" "Why not?" "Because Ill be in Florida for 12 months from *date x*, feel free to come visit me, I can get discount accommodation" On the other hand, I doubt my parents would visit me due to the fact that my mum HATES flying. My brother, on the other hand, might. Possibly with his daughter (if he can get her for a couple of weeks instead of just a weekend) but who knows. Lol!
i just told them when i applied, a year sounds long but in the grand scheme of things 12months is small lol if you are just leaving school i can understand ur angst but im sure they'll understand or wait until your older and they might not mind as much.
I'm lucky, my mum thinks it is brilliant, she thinks that everyone should do something like this whilst your young... the other day she said that if I get a rejection I should just work for 6 months then go travelling! I am v. lucky in that respect!! If you've thought it through, and you present them with the facts though then I am sure any parents would be supportive, and proud that you have put yourself through the application process, etc..
honestly, dont even think about stuff like the 1st night, my bestadvice would be just 2 get on with life while you wait, if you find out you got the job then start thinking about stuff like that but its fine. well, for girls it is..
Oh my gosh! I would think that most parents would be fine with you going! I mean it's a job guaranteed for a year. You not travelling around America with little money or idea what you're doing, instead you'll have a job with responsibilities! Especially is this economic environment where it is pretty hard for young people to get any form of job, they can't say no to you having a years guaranteed work. It just happens to be at the greatest place on earth... ;D I've also thought about the Inaguration but you know those things are never as bad as they make out. Just drink/eat/do it and think of England!!
Aww I just checked here saw what Vicki put, checked my inbox and I fail too. Oh well. I give up now and will focus on getting a proper job!
Oh My :-[ I am actually shocked at everyone who has rejection emails. You all seemed really pasionnate about working at Disney!... I haven't heard anything yet...
Yeah I am slightly nervous! Hope I can get a good email! I dont think you can properly judge someone from a CV really
