I'm not sure about everyone else, but I'm thinking the fact that apps closed today (as opposed to being closed earlier like before), that not as many people applied and we all stand a better chance :D Well here's to hoping and best luck to all!

I'm with you on that one. If I don't get through this time, I'm not entirely convinced I'll apply again. After all... what more can I do for these people?! If they won't tell me what it is I'm missing, how am I meant to go out there and get it? *sigh* Fingers crossed this is our time, eh guys?

This is only my first time applying and I have my fingers well and truly crossed!!

It seems that most people get through on their 2ND or 3RD attempt? And that they don't really seem to take people on the first time applying? Is it true?

They probably take more people on their first attempt than later. It's just that there's a LOT of us who won't give up. To get through on a 2nd or 3rd you have to show what you've improved about yourself. You have to dispel the reasons for them not wanting to hire you the first time. I'd say it was a hell of a lot harder to get a position when it's not your first time.

Then again, I have NO clue what the average results are across everyone. You have to remember that only a TINY proportion of applicants even know about these boards, let alone use them.

Yeah, you're right. It's hard to know in reality how many apply, get through or even how many positions we are all applying for. I wish we did know, then we could work out what our chances were and when would be best to apply etc.! And the fact that only a small proportion of the applicants even know this forum exists makes this all harder to work out, and once the people are successful and working in Disney they tend not to write on here and share their experiences. I only found this website my accident, after searching for the program on Google. I heard that these discussion forums existed but I didn't know the first thing about them and how they worked! LOL! Now I feel more educated!

Well in my opion unless you are tied down and can't leave your job i don't see the point of not applying because at the end of the day all you have to do is push a button, even if you don't change you CV because the 3rd,4th time you apply you might be up against other candidates who are not as good as you so you look better even without imporving your CV and hey if that does not work out i'm sure by your 10th time they will give you a phone interview just to get them off you there back lol :D :D :D

I work at the disney store in Derby, how about you?

It was exactly the same for me, I had worked for disney for two summers and thought that I'd fairly easily get an interview. Plus I wasn't entirely sure I wanted to do it, just thought I'd apply to see how far I got. This time I have changed my application totally (i.e. absolutely nothing is the same as before) and I now really really want to do the program and am passionate about it so have worked ridiculously hard on my application.

It is true that people do not know these forums exist. I always knew they existed but never came on here. Having first applied for my first program in November 2006, my first forum post was yesterday!

As to applications, my CV hasn't really changed much since my first application appart from adding in new experience it's my covering letter that I've been tweaking and messing about with.

My first application I put pretty much zero emphasis on experience and tried to make it all about my personality and why I wanted to do the job because Yummy said no experience nessecery. The second time I totally re-wrote it with more emphasis on my experience, why I like working in hospitality, and what benefit it would be to Disney to have me there. Having spoken extensively to various people at Yummy since then, especially Jason who's been very helpful and patient with me in helping me figure out what they're looking for that my application hasn't been so far, the new version I've just sent off has been a tweak of the last one with bits and peices added in where appropriate.

I have put in much less effort this time though, I desperately want to do this, but it's not the central plan of my next year of being like it has been the last two times.

I think all second timers/third timers etc feel the same way! I'm not sure about everyone else, but I think the apps last time were maybe a bit tough? I'm not sure, it's just people I've spoken to both on the boards and not, hardly anyone I know or they know of seemed to even get a phone interview (there were even a few people in that group who had done ICP etc that I know of who didnt get anything). Who knows, maybe 2010 will be our year? x

You are applying for a really small amount of positions, someone told me there's only 110 a year (I trust them on this, but I'm not prepared to say who told me).
And they get over 1000 applications each time.
But best of luck to everyone, I'm sure eventually you will all at least get phone interviews... and then face to faces..... and then work in Epcot! :D

It may be 100 or so per year, but there's also two lots of recruitment, and this is the smaller of the two. My guess is they take on roughly 55-65 people at the August set, and roughly 35-45 at the January (this) set.

So yea, we need to be the 40 in the 1000. It boils down to 1 in 25, at the least. If not a lot more. (It's never clear how many over 1000, just that it's over!)
From my counting last night, there's 18 of us on these boards who've openly said "I'm applying for the Jan CRP" If only 1 in 25 get a position, it's possible that none of us will get in. Dreary but horribly true. Fingers crossed that 450 other people who aren't on these boards don't get through, and that each and every one of us is that 1 in 25.

I've had a thought though. How many of you guys are still at college/sixth form/uni and applying this time round for CRP? As obviously you wouldn't be available to leave until after you've finished or after you've had your graduation.

I finished uni last year so don't have to wait around until later in the year, and I know a couple of people who applied in Jan 09 and got places for June and July. SO if they still have some earlier positions available for this year, maybe the people who are available earlier will have a good chance?

It all depends who is still at college/uni and who isn't, out of the people applying.

Well, I'm a full time working girl. And my boss is well aware that I've applied for this. I left my "date available" the same as last time, so it's technically back dated. I'm available from 2 weeks ago! Lol.

Personally, if you get on the CRP having just come out of uni, you're VERY lucky. I mean, you can't have huge amounts of experience under your belt, and that seems to be the only thing they're after, apart from being right for Disney. Of course, I have NO idea how they work out if you're right for Disney off a CV.

I think departure dates are more often a reason for waitlisting than for not getting interviews. Makes a little more sense to me.

I know seven people currently doing CRP, they all finished uni last summer and started their programs in June, July, August, September and December.

I graduated in July, so I've just put from March time on mine.... I know it wouldn't be that soon, but I only need a weeks notice for work. I'm working full-time but I'm not telling my bosses, they wouldn't be all to pleased!! Working in retail means I am on shift work, and if they suspect that someone is leaving then they often don't treat you aswell.. giving you the bad shifts etc!!!

I call that seven VERY lucky people then. Had they all done the ICP beforehand?

Yes they had all done a mixture of programs including ICP and J1 academic.
