U.K August 2009 Applicants

I got a conformation e-mail but it was an auto message nothign personlised just said they has recieved my aplication

 

So it was done via submitting it all over the internet on yummyjobs site?

That's weird, if it was, as i didn't get anything, yet I also had major problems trying to log in over the last week and weekend. Wonder if something went wrong somewhere. Now I'm worried.

 

well its only july 7th so u still have plenty of time to contact yummy to make sure they got ur application, i need to contact them to ask when i should hand my in, i want to stay on wait list as long as possible.

 

Have many people sent their applications in? I don't want to leave it too late and then find out they've had enough applications, but i didn't want to do it too soon in case they forgot about it!! That would be my nightmare!

 

Personally, I got mine in today. If I hadn't, I'd be looking at getting it in in the next couple of weeks.
The website says they start *reviewing* applications at the begining of August. This could mean they stop accepting them then, or that they could keep accepting them while they look at the ones they already have. I'm just not prepared to risk missing the boat.

It was obviously an automated reply message, and I submitted it through the website. It's a little confusing though, you sign up and submit all your details, fill in their little form etc, and *then* you have to go to the opportunities page to apply for the CRP. It's possible that you've signed up, just not applied yet. Check that out first, and if you're still worried drop yummy an email. I'm sure they'll know what's going on.

P.S. Who else didn't like filling in that little box about motivations?! I hate writing that kind of thing.

 

I love it when u get questions in interviews like,

'Tell me about a time when team work came in handy?'

Its like...Um everyday....

The motivation question, is pretty much summed up in my entire cover letter and the beginning of my cv

 

Me too i wrot like a sentance in the box and then said see cover letter attached to CV!!!

 

The question I hate most in interviews is "what is something that you are NOT good it" ...... that's just not a fair question for perfect people like me!

But yeah, the motivation thing does seem a bit redundant, cos it's gonna be in your cover letter.

I filled out motivation this time instead of writing a cover letter. It's going to say mostly the same stuff anyway so I figured I'd just do what I was told and put it in the box.

I just sent in my application, it's in the lap of the gods now. Welp, better go make a sacrifice to Wodin.

I think they pay a lot more attention to your cover letter and cv than the small profile you make on here. . . because I looked at mine earlier. . and in a way Im very surprised I got the job based on that, my motivation is literally about 2 lines basically saying ive been before and i want to go back to experience more. . and also I didnt send a cover letter. . but by the sounds of this thread a LOT of people are applying and so its gonna be even more competitive, so id say defo get the cover letters in! in terms of the motivation if youve wrote a lot on it in your cv/cover letter then id definately point their way towards that because its only a small box not sure quite how much you can write.

Also im AWFUL at questions like teamwork and things. . i think before the phone interview and face to face interview i had like a sheet of paper with the right things to say for each question I thought they would ask. . but then again its not always what you say, its how you say it (personality, body language, how "lively and friendly" you appear)

Aaahhh....i just sent my application too, through the YJ website!! I've got the fear and I keep wondering if i could've said something better or if i've spelled my name wrong!! Got that automatic email confirmation through straightaway, but I think i'll email them in a few days to check they've got, i'm not taking any chances!!

Now i have to do good in the world to make sure i have good karma!!

 

My CV goes in tonight! Was waiting off a bit to perfect it etc, but I think I'm just going to take the leap and hope for the best! Cant stand another day at work at my current place!

Once you send in your application up can update it as much as you want before August i think I've like adapted mine like 3 times since applying lol!!!

 

Mine is going in tonight too. Talking about WDW to my cousin all day yesterday (from 10am until 6pm nonstop) really put me in the mood to go back and made me more determined. CV and resume all got updated last night. Just need to re-work my cover letter and the motivation part.
