I got half and half, $700 cash and $700 travellers cheques. Mine in 20's and 50's mainly. (no 50's in cash, places in the states don't seem to like 50's as much)

I have 5 $100 bills so I'll probably change it for smaller notes when I get to Gatwick, I don't think the money changing place would mind if I did that. I figure since I'm going to have to pay disney quite a bit of stuff when I get there I can pay them with 100's (for the $70 fee and the first weeks rent for example), they know we're not criminals.

    Hey...just a suggestion...

don't go an deposit all of your travellers cheques into your bank accounts when they are set up...I had spent most of mine anyways, but kept some in my locker in my room so I could use it when I went on my little mini-trips to Miami and Fort Lauderdale and Tampa and wherever else. Cashing travellers cheques in Orlando is sooooo easy...everywhere takes them...so it's better to take more of them than cash. Only take a very little amount of cash (couple hundred...no more than you can afford to lose) and when you spend the travellers cheques, try to spend the larger ones first so you don't get stuck at McD's with a $50 for a $5 Big Mac.

Almost everywhere in Florida takes tc, it's just like using cash, they will give you change in cash too. ;)

A lot of the places just don't like to take big amounts, unless you have a big purchase...or if it's earlier in the day and they just don't have the change yet.
