For sure use your locker - if only for peace of mind. And try and watch who you let in and out of your apartment.
Obviously you can't know who your roomies bring in all the time - hence the locker. I keep my ipod, passport, camera, phones etc in there when they're not on me. You just have to be careful. As you would anywhere.

  3. ooooh thats great though, I didn't know they had lockers! Good thing they have those :)

Thank you everyone for great tips and great questions. I had not been able to come up with all these questions myself.

Anyone know "how" we usually have our meals at the Commons? Do everyone eat by themselves, and get their own groceries, or do people in the same appartment chip in, and have their meals together if possible? Maybe it's a stupid question..

Can boys and girls live in the same appartment? How do we get around the first days when we surely feel so lost and don't know where anything is? (Do we get someone to ask or to show us around?)

And what is our address? (I need to re-direct some of my mail before I leave home)

    Tanks again! -Merte

hey! about the meals question it depends of your roomates and how you organize, usually each one buys their own things and cooks them, but perhaps sometime you can chip in with your rommies/friends for a special ocasion.
Legally boys & girls cant live in the same apartment, by legally i mean that housing puts them togheter, but sometimes boyfriend & girlfriend start living together, at least some of the mexicans when i was there.
At work someone will give you some training but the rest you have to find out by yourself, thats the exciting part!! lol
And finally you have to wait untill you get there to know your adress because it changes from building to buildign and apartment.
    Have fun

Just cos theres one (part of) question that Chloe couldn't answer- in UK F&B the earliest start is usually 10.45 (at the moment cos of hols its 10.30) and close does vary if you're a server etc, but latest scheduled is 12.30 (currently 1am cos of hols).

  10. I got another one..........what do you do for food on your break at work? Bring a pack lunch, or is there a cafeteria, or fridges for food you bring............also how long are breaks?

ooh! another one LOL what sort of courses are offered at Disney University and has anyone done any?

non tip position (fish and chip shop) got 1 hour break, and went to the staff canteen(odysessy, is it still called that ?) for philly cheese steak sandwiches which was ok, once i got into bar got bout 20 mins to half an hour break, so had to nip "off stage"and go for a smoke, maybe grab an unofficial portion of fish from the chip shop. Its the quickest hour of the day. you will have a break room off stage though, think every pavilion has one.

as for courses, you can do just about anything, i did the cocktail course.although you have to do the courses on your days off, you so generally cant be bothered after a while, days off become gold dust.

i was wondering about insurance... what coverage does disney offer?

should we buy a 1 year insurance when we go there?
    or
does disney cover you after a few months into the program?

  13. I just bought 4 months insurance through RBC only $260! The coverage is great too...wonder what the coverage is for the Disney insurance once that kicks in...

The Disney coverage is awesome, in my opinion. I had issues while there with tendonitis/arthritis induced by food service(another CM I know did too) and I really feel like I was taken care of. Waiting around at Health Services can be annoying, but your shift is still paid(if your appt is during your scheduled hrs) But what doctors office is ever running on time?? Plus it's conveniently located at Epcot! As far as I know they downsized and the only HS building is the one at Epcot. They set me up with splints and medications for the inflammation. They even sent me to their fancy hospital in Celebration(the place has a concierge!) to see a surgeon for evaluation. They paid for my transportation to and from - completely reliable and safe. My roommate also got a really bad flu/virus thing and they took good care of her as well. All in all, I'd say they know what they're doing. But, this is just my personal experience. :) Hopefully you will never have to visit Health Services.

just realise that each of you in your apartment are paying that per week, your dryer may not work or your dishwasher either....both of mine have been fixed 3 times. and your sharing a room with someone else. You could find better for cheaper with less people....i live with 8 girls each pay 75 a week in a month thats aproximatly $$2400 american a week.

What is this Disney University? And what are these courses you can do there?

Oh, and as a Brit considering applying, what would you suggest I apply for - Food and Drink, or Merch? I work as a waitress right now (and hate it!) and I'm used to a rather "comfortable" lifestyle (although I know I wouldn't be living anywhere near like I would at home!), but like I said, I hate my current job and I know Americans expect the absolute best service. Which has the most chance to chat to customers? I would absolutely love to work with children and generally people, so Kidcot looks quite cool...basically I'm very confused and need help!!!
