Also depends on time of year and how many rooms are left in the resort. Sometimes you might only get 25% on certain rooms and at Christmas you get 60% discount (but these rooms go super fast!)

Yes, every CM gets into the parks for free. Waterparks you have to pay for, but usually after 2pm its half price, and sometimes its free (like during the winter).

ok my family is coming down when I'm down there this summer, and my mom is confused about stuff, so here are her questions:

    1. resort discount is up to 40%. Is this discount applied to the meal plan, or the park tickets, if you buy the vacation packages? Do we get a discount on these packages?
    2. if not, do cast members get a discount on the meal plan?
    3. If I'm letting them in using my main gate passes, I have to be there to let them in, is that right? has anybody ever had a problem with this and their work schedule? If we start work early, can they show up early, get their passes, then wait for the park to open, or how does this work?
    4. Extra magic hours? can they get in for that if they are on a main gate pass, or with cast member discounted tickets?
    5. do I have to be with them for them to get their discount on food?

    1. The resort discount is 40% if you are not staying with them in the room - its 50% if you are staying with them! These available block of rooms for CM's book up really fast though so hopefully you will be able to book something for them. Some people have said that at peak times you don't get as good % of a discount but I have no experience with that.
Not sure on the packages - when I was there in January CM's did get a really good discount on the meal plan but my son didn't call early enough and we didn't get one and I believe it was just offered for a short amount of time. You would probably find out about any special offers after you have your I.D. and access to the hub or portal for CM's.
    2. Not sure on this either. I've only had discounted rooms.
    3. Yes you should go through the main gate with them -of course it has to be when the gate is open or manned - there's usually one gate off to the side for CM's and you go through there with your friends/family. If you go to work early you probably won't be able to get them in to the park that day early. I know at Epcot the CM's usually go through an entrance that isn't open to the general public backstage, they don't need to go through the regular gates - and those regular gates are not open until a certain amount of time before the park opens.
    4. The passes they get for the day on your main gate pass are just regular hopper passes - and the discounted tickets are the same - they would use them the same as anyone else staying at a Disney hotel for extra magic hours.
    5. If you want to use any of your discounts you actually have to pay for it and show your I.D. - so they give you the cash and you pay. They won't benefit from any discounts without you.

    2. there are offers at certain times of the year with the disney dining plan, like in august last year if you stayed at saratoga springs or old key west you could get the plan for 1/2 price, and in november and december staying at any resort you could get it for 1/2 price.

    3. you need to be there when you get them in, and you are officially meant to be with them when they are in the parks.

    4. they can take part in extra magic hours as long as they are at a disney hotel. usually you just need to show your room key (not the park ticket) and you get a wristband.
