Now we just need to catch some gnomes and bribe them to do the dirty work somehow!

or maybe flowers, they do favour gardens after all! The you could say they have a "colourful" appetite!

maybe they soak it up with their little gnome feet... hmm

 

Their hats are usually quite big, maybe that's the key. They lift up their hats, and there's a little hatch there that has a little gnome slide leading to the gnome stomach. So the food, whatever it may be, just goes "weeee" down the slide, and then the gnome is fed and happy.

 

My theory is that they actually do move their mouths, but not when anyone is looking... they're sly and mischievous like that!
