I think comparing Tesco to Sinsbury's is often a matter of opinion more than anything else. Personally, I used to shop at Sainsbury's cos it was closer to me. Now I live on top of a Tesco.
I think, once out there, I'll try both and see which takes my fancy more. Getting to and from the shops will play a factor, but so will quality of food and cleanliness of the place. (I like clean supermarkets). Who knows, I may just alternate between both, depending on who I can blag a lift off that week :p

  3. Walmart is like asda cheap and packed with everything u need when u arrive, food basics, juice and bedding etc. Plus DVD music section etc.
Then Publix is basically more of food only store, it specialises in different things as well. I am also a fan of goodings, its so crusty in there, the floor is carpeted lol.

I prefer walmart tho, its cheap and cheerful and u get what u need. And I dont think its that much of a bother 2 be honest.

So do I....so I think you'll prefer publix, it's so much cleaner than any of the others and they have the best bread! That was what I missed the most while I was away, I hated that sweetened stuff and publix was the only place I could find anything remotely close to proper bread!!

The bonus about food @ Walmart is that they're more inclined to sell some items in bulk so you get more bang for your buck. So it's one stop shopping probably for things like popcorn, soups, etc. Basically foods that take a goooood little while to expire :D As far as purchasing fresh veggies and what not, probably best to stick with Publix - then you really just get only what you need, and if you need more - you're just a 10 min walk away! :)

Sounds similar to what I currently do:
Non-perishables get bought online and delivered. Fresh stuff gets bought as and when it's needed. Perhaps a big trip to Walmart for non-perishables every once in a while and then fresh stuff to be got from publix when needed. We shall see when we get out there.

Oooh I was planning on getting a car too. Bit worried about being short of money if I did though... Would be so much easier in the long run! xoxo

Either having a car or knowing someone who does is key for being there for a year I think!

ok whos got a car ??? lol

  14. Knowing people with cars is very useful indeed. Especially if you both work similar shifts and in the same location. Saves a lot of bother trying to get on the bus. Also handy when you need to do a big food shop.

I think I would still take the bus to and from work! Cars are super handy for weekends or getting food - just getting out of the Disney bubble - Like trips to the beach or universal or just shopping or around Orlando and stuff - great for mini roadtrips to the keys or something too!

I think that I would get the bus to and from work but the car would be super handy on the weekend for road trips and shopping! ;D

  18. Well after finishing at 4am I wasn't willing to get on a stupidly cramped A bus from Magic Kingdom when I knew my friend was just about to leave at the same time and she lived opposite me.

Thats an idea, waiting for busses at that time can be hard. Think I would look into a car, but unsure. Depends on cost and if its worth it really. would be nice to take a drive on days off etc. xxx

I hated that mad rush for the A bus after a 10 hour shift, especially when you'd see people you knew walking to their cars, but you didn't know them well enough to ask for a lift...or their car was already full!!
