well, i've been there 5 years ago and i doubt the commons have changed that much! for all i know, yes there's been drug abuse, but in most cases it all came down to alcohol, if you wanna count that in! otherwise, 90% doing drugs? no way! and yes, i would have ratted on my roomie, too, if i had noticed anything! but thank god most people there aren't like that doing drugs), cause most people there are happy they're there! while i was there only few people were terminated (basically none for underage-drinking, thanks to our awesome security guys!), but those who were had to go home for a reason (stealing money, smahing up they're apt, catching ducks from the commons lake as dinner, ...). so don't be scared, as long as you 'behave' (and you really don't need to be an angel!) nothing will happen and you'll just have a great time!
about the being popular thing...the commons never were about being popular! yes, there were people that everyone knew, those who were throwing the biggest parties, the people you just met everywhere...but it wasn't about being popular at all! there's so many different people, and they're all 'cool' and 'popular' in their own way! no one ever was left out (well, unless they decided so for themselves!)!
and unlike other people on this thread, i've grown up so much in that one year, too (i know exactly what you mean ellen! ;))!

Wow interesting turn this thread has taken. ;)

I just want to agree wholeheartedly with flavour. The Commons was def. not like that when I was there. I guess either things have changed in a big way (I feel this to be rather unlikely) or some folks have avery slanted perception of what#'s actually going on. To each their own. Until it affects me or a friend. Then it's very much my business.

Gotta say if 90% were at it, I'm sure that would mean I'd be high over here in Chatham too! And thankfully I can have fab ole time with not so much as anything stronger than a red bull. ;D

Tracey you said it! December 5th party! I can honestly say that I don't need drugs or alcohol to have fun! Just be the fun loving person Disney hired you for!

You are LIVING at Disney World for craps sake! Who would even begin to want to ruin that by doing something stupid? Once in a lifetime opportunity, don't blow it!

sad thing just is that there really is people out there that go there rather for having just a year long party then for making their own dream come true...for most of the people i know it was an honour to work for disney, unfortunately not for all! i think those people shouldn't have applied in the first place, taking the opportunity from someone who really wants to go...and those people then don't care whether they or someone else gets terminated...

Im here to to have fun, and frankly if you dont like me for "ratting" on you then frankly go f*** I dont drink or do drugs, and people that need drugs to have fun must lead very sad lonley lives in my opnion.

I have been here all of six days so am yet to experience anything like this, my roomies dont seem like the kinda people to take drugs, and all there seems to be are a lot of parties, u dont have to join in, but they dont seem like they are bad at all, go out have few drinks and meet new people thats what i hope to do
If people wanna take drugs then thats there choice but personally i dont want friends like that

hey guys, i went march 04 - 05, havent bn on here for well over a yr! just thought id say i never saw any drugs being done at all in the year, tho i knew it has happening - mainly italy, france n canada (think 3 canadian guys got termed when i was there for drugs) when i was there, just from snippets like so and so was high last nite etc...

when i first got there, a housemate had pot in his room, and 1 of the guys went down n told security it was going on, and a few days later he was gone...another situation was my best friend michelle lived in a wellness, n her roomate had alcohol in her knicker drawer, they tried terming the whole appt as they claim u shud know whats going on in ur appt, but the girl owned up and it was ok. so really there rules are overly harsh.
security are there to protect u, n they probably think ur all in on it. i lived in a wellness and they did a random inspection, and my roomate (I lived in a 2 after the 8) had left a crate of beers in the middle of the floor, so i threw them in his wardrobe, just my luck they did it that day!! cuz they didnt look in wardrobes then. mainly its underage drink thats a prob, not harder stuff. but i guess im trying to say dont worry bout it til it actually happens, and it probably wont - if it does get in there n make ur point noted first at the housing desk. (u dont have to announce to every1 you went down and dobbed in at security) dont worry bout it guys, itll be fine - have a good time and enjoy!!

You hear a lot of things about security "unfairly" terming people (and it does happen, unfortunately) but in many cases people are just asking for it. For example, if security is always getting noise complaints about your apartment and it's disgustingly dirty when they do inspections or if you're just plain rude to them they won't be as willing to let little indiscretions slide. It *may* even mean the difference between one person getting termed and the entire apartment being termed. Security definately have their favourites... and some people they'd love to "stick it to" given the right opportunity. There are SO MANY rules in the housing contract that they could find something to term every single person for... if they wanted to. Technically you're not even supposed to put pins in the wall but everyone's apartment is covered in posters and thrown-down junk anyway. They've never termed anyone for that but I'm sure they could if they wanted to!

My point is... you'll be just fine as long as you don't push the wrong buttons. Just remember why you went down there in the first place and you'll have the time of your life!!!

Oh, and Ottawachikky, I think what you meant to type was "90% of my friends" because there are A LOT of very cool people you obviously have never even talked to.

Well, unfortunately, I have first hand experience. Shayna's apartment of girls were terminated today because an empty liquor bottle was found and one roommate called security. Shayna had been questionning calling security because she knew a couple of girls were breaking the rules, but she was procrastinating and the other girl beat her to it. Shayna has followed all the rules, been a star Disney employee, and it looks like she's coming home unless either guilty party admits to the bottle being hers. Neither wants to do that and they're not too busted up about the whole thing!

I've phoned the powers that be and I understand the situation, but it's very, VERY unfair to penalize everyone because of a few. One of the other girls affected is actually over 21 in a wellness apartment, is on a J1 Academic program till January, and she's also terminated. Not fair!

I am really sorry it happened, it is really unfair indeed.

This is why we should tell when we know something is going on.... I def would.
