lol @ shannon - ive def been here too long as i also remember the discussion on marmite i was devastated to learn that supposedly we couldnt take marmite with us, however i did take a huge jar with me and i know jason took a couple jars with him too (another merch for uk who arrived with me) and our suitcases were not raided for it! lol publix was fantastic cos we just used to walk over there and get the weekly shopping (prices were actually quite good) and of course we would go to the "ethnic food" aisle and buy some treats for ourselves.......packet of choc covered digestives, a twirl, packet of saxo stuffing, was well worth paying a little extra than u would back home! i thought the best thing tho was wen the uk pavillion had a delivery of these HUGE CADBURY BARS AND ALSO DIGESTIVE BISCUIT PACKETS THAT WERE LIKE 50% BIGGER, ONLY THE STOCK PEOPLE DIDNT PROCESS THEM RIGHT AT FIRST AND THEY SOLD FOR THE SAME PRICE AS THE REGULAR ONES, SO BEFORE THEY COULD GO OUT ON SHOP FLOOR WE HID THEM AND THEN GOT CHANGED ON OUR BREAKS AND BOUGHT THEM ALL FOR THE LOWER PRICE, IT WAS SUCH A BARGAIN!!!!!!! i would say dont bother taking cadburys or anything with u cos u can get it in the pavillion, but the best things that are light and easy to pack that u could take are...... -super noodles -those packet mixes made by companies like SCHWARTZ i think (u know like to make chicken curry, or bombay potatoes etc) -cup a soups cos theyre actually quite hard to get hold of and u can make urself some decent meals by having them, many times me and some friends used to buy some rice and chicken and i would use one of those dried packets to make a nice ckicken korma!!
i cannot live without marmite, it is not physically possible lol im from the town where its made, so i will b smugglin it in whether im allowed 2 or not, lol its one of those essential items im afraid! xxx
i could quite happily live on it lol think cos of it bein made in burton ive grown up with it and the smell which u sometimes get goin in2 town but i love the stuff!! as does every person i know in burton that and branston pickle, plus bass, coors and tetleys beer lol xxx
a thick brown gooey paste that comes in a brown jar with yellow lid made from yeast extract..... smells really strong and tates delish on hot buttered toast.... yum, its very salty and u just cant relate it to anything else as the adverts for it say. YOU EITHER LOVE IT OR U HATE IT!!! im sure someone from uk will let u have a nice cuppa tea with them and some marmite on toast
Ew...brown goo. Taking Irn Bru in your suitcase will add a lot of weight...buy it at Publix. You can buy it all over the place here in Toronto. Craig was so excited when we found it here in a store, but since then, it seems all my grocery stores sell it now. Laura...sounds like a good deal. We never got any bigger size Coffee Crisps. Cindy and i would have had to rewrite the rules to Coffee Crisp jenga if that had happened. We always wondered who bought more of them, cast members (Angie) or actual guests!! Probably us. Shan
lol yeh the uk cast members bought so much stuff from the pavillion............and i just loved that shortbread, the lil packets that u could buy for 99 cents, they were so damn good!!!! in fact the boxes of disney shortbread that u could buy in the pavillion and other places in wdw u can actually buy in the disney stores here and it actually works out cheaper to buy here i think!! so everytime i go to disney store i buy some!!! the coffee crisps in canada were so good and so were those sour fish things, we always used to get given them free wenever we were on our days off and went in to see the cast members in canada!!! hehehe
SHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Swedish fish. We have swedish berries here and it took me the longest time to realize that they were the same thing!!! Maybe it was because I don't really enjoy the berries, but the fish were so good!!! We'd love when the maple sugar candies would start to go icky (turn white) and we'd tell one of the managers and they'd let us damage them out and do product testing. We had to do it to 12 of them one day!! We were so bad...we wouldn't throw anything out, just leave it and then say "Oh, can we product test tonight?" Shan
now my idea of heaven in cheese and jam sandwiches......dont say yuk!! dont mock it til u hav tried it agrred it sounds horrible but i have managed to get laods of ppl to like it!!! its yummy ;D
