You're not allowed to recieve tips in QS! I know this since I've worked there myself! As I said somewhere else, if the guest offers you the tip three times you have to accept it, but you're not allowed to keep it! If you get caught keeping tips you're not entiteled to you're stealing from the company and you'll be terminated.

Talking about tips and such, I'm working in the Canadian Pavillion in F&B as well in the restaurant I believe...
What is the average that you would make in tips per night?
I know everyone is going to be different and it depends on what kind of crowds you get, but what would you guys say the "norm" is for nightly tips?

  5. I agree totally with Seanny boy, don't listen to Yummy and bring as much as you can.
As what Yummy suggest will not leave you anything extra. I bought more than they said when I arrived last month and after first big shop and all other expenses, I was finding the funds were going quickly. So rather than struggle, bring a good bit more than Yummy suggest........just my thoughts!!!

places around offer discount for Disney employees, food places like Denny's and bennigans, with a cici only being about $4.00, there also is the discount book full of coupons for cheap stuff.
unless your over 21 you shouldn't really be spending the money on alcohol.
you get free entry to P.I, travel is paid for unless you need a taxi... so really with all the amount discounts you get its easy to live on that

    That sounds awesome!
Now, I heard Mondays and Thursdays are our staff P.I. days.....
Are there themed nights then or is it just the best days for us to go?
And there are theme nights on property and stuff as well I think?

Did you guys just bring, or are you planning to bring a bunch of cash? Cuz I'd definately bring some cash but I prefer using credit cards. I have an AMEX and VISA so I know I can use them fine there. I'll probably set up direct debit to pay the bills... Anyway I know you can get a savings or chquing account with a debit card there which sounds good. The thing I'm wondering is if there is a monthly fee and if there's a limited amount of debits you can do per month>

I can't say for sure, but I know here in Canada there is always a fee you have to pay. When you set up your debit card, they will go through different settings for it (monthly and weekly transaction amounts, limits, etc) so they always go through the little details. I think you have to sign an agreement or a contract or something of that nature as well so we'll see how it goes :)

From what I heard the Canadian girls do themed Monday drinking nights. I read that in someone's blog.

I remember my latest experience in WDW as merchandise host at the Italian Pavilion. Of course my weekly paycheck wasn't so bad 'cause I use to work overtime really often. And I traveled a lot during my off time. But I have to admit that I've survived after my trips thanks to the Ramen Noodles! :p
Now, in a few days I'll be there again in Guest Relations. I suppose that I shouldn't have problems with money ('cause in GR you really do a lot of overtime!)

Are there a lot of overtime hours to be had?
I just got the feeling from the interview and the presentation and such that we would be working around 40 hours and that's it, but the more hours the merrier!

That depends... Sometimes locations are overstaffed, then you get less work. But if you really want to work a lot, there's always someone who doesn't, so it shouldn't be hard to take other peoples shifts either...

Good to know...Thanks for all the help....
I know holidays are normally busy but are there any times that I'm not aware of being peek season? I know there are always people at the parks and such but when are the really low and really high seasons?
I'm leaving in May...Am I goingto be walking in at a good or bad time? I've never really done anything F&B related so I'm hoping to get some practice before getting into something I don't know if I'm good at! ha ha

I would guess that things wouldn't get busy until school lets out around the middle/end of June... but that's just a guess! You'll be starting as a greeter/hostess so you'll have time to get used to everything and move up to server gradually. I hear Disney training is amazing, and I'm sure you'll do a fantastic job!

I think while in the summer July is the busiest, if your out for the year, Christmas and Halloween are also busy times.

I think Easter/April time is one of the busiest at WDW. How long does it usually take to move up to a server?

I think the general rule is that you become a server about halfway through your program, but if needed it can happen sooner.

    Busy seasons are:
    around march - spring break
    4th july (crazy busy day)
    septemberish - diningplan campaign
december - 2 last weeks (new years eve crazy busy)

I don't really remember how easter and halloween is, but my guess is that it's busy seing that they have Mickey's Not So Scary Halloweenparty and thanksgiving. The summer is usually very quiet because of the extreme heat.

Lindsay, I'm now in the same boat as you! I just found out Disney actually has me listed in F&B! I'm excited, but kind of nervous at the same time. I think I can handle guest interaction, etc. but it's carrying hot plates full of food or a tray of drinks that scares me! By the time I get there I'm sure you'll be pro so I'm going to have to seek you out for your advice! If I do make it up to server it looks like it will be around December/January... perfect for the Christmas/New Year rush... eek!

Oh you'll learn quick enough ;) I had no experience as a server at all, but I managed without any problems :)
