We may get tips, but I bet you get paid more than £5 an hour. :p Our salary probably works out about the same.

I don't want to sound greedy as regardless of money I want to work for the Walt DIsney World company, but approximately how much does the average server make? And when could I expect to be offered a server position? Part of my concern stems from my current financial situation. I owe quite a bit of money for university bills and need to be able to continue paying my debts while I'm in Disney.

  6. Argh don't remind me about paying university bills. I have far too many.

The guide is roughly 90 days before going into service but some can go in half that time depending on how desperate they are for servers and how good you are in the non tipped positions. You will make a really nice sum in Service that's for sure and even more if you went into the Bar.

I have no out goings back home and don;t have any debts and while the $7.78 an hour isn't amazing, i'm not in so much of a rush to get into service.

I plan to drive there and then back to Canada. Will they still deduct for a plane ticket even if you dont need one?

For people who have receipts from their flight they will get that amount added to their last paycheck. For people who don't have their receipts or who drive down Disney has a list of what they would have paid for you to fly. So for example on their little list, they would have paid $222 for me to fly down from Toronto and that will be on my last paycheck. I hope that makes sense.

hey, i am definately planning to buy my own flight ticket as have heard that disney do not go out there way to find a cheap flight at all! i hink its best to pay it befiore u go so we wont have any more money going out of the already low wage!

i too have debts here and student loans to pay off. i plan to pay off my debt before i go but remember student loans company only takes money off you if u are earning over a certain ammount, so hopefully payments to them wont have to continue whilst am in florida otherwise am goin to be very skint!

hey i hear you about the student loans! i owe a LOT, i just graduated and i have about 5 months, myabe more to pay off 20,000. it would suck making payments on such a small income down there!

Student loan = not an issue. You don't start paying it off until you earn over a certain amount per year. Bank loan however = an issue. The longest re-payment break I can take is 1 month, so I'm going to have to save up enough money to ensure that I can pay off my loan every month while I'm out there. It's going to be horrible, and I'm totally relying on birthday and christmas monies :S
