thats good advice about the phones... just get a wee reliable phone. il prob want a phone with a camera tho! does that mean i shouldnt bring my own phone with me? what abt the yummy sim cards, are they good?
i put the skype software on my parents computer so they can contact me on that. im bringing my laptop out with me aswell. so have to pack that in my hand luggage somewhere! :-\ keeping in contact online is probably the best way to go about it, international calls are too expensive!

i thought we were supposed to take some formal wear for dinners and balls and things? are you all talking about halloween / fancy dress partys? hehe ;D i like themed partys, and its my bday when im out there so il have to come up with a good idea for a theme! its great fun! :D

im flying out on the 4th dec, starting on 7th and il be in uk merch 8)
its so scary that its all happening soon! i had totally given up on getting offered a place and here i am, freaking out abt organising everything in time haha ::)

cant wait to meet you all!

you need smart business wear for two days and tidy shoes to go with that - so one skirt/trousers and 2 blouses should be fine unless you fancy doing washing

costumes are for parties/lasses - lasses have different themes so themes in the past, hoola, anything but clothes, punk, alphabet (where your given a letter and have to get a costume to match) alice in wonderland etc

formal gown/dress for graduation usually about 10-11 months after you arrive you get your graduation invite. most people buy dresses out there - plenty fo shops and to be honest your weight may change whilst your there so buying one home and dragging it out theres a bit pointless. dresses range from about $40+

theres also some formal dances and things at the housing but i never bothered with that cos i was working

i was lucky, she liked me-then i got on the bar, didnt like it, and she nearly killed me because id pestered her for months to get me in there lol. Fortunately she still liked me as she did my service training and used to make me illicit drinks when i was stressed.

i can remember my service test-she and lady sarah (welsh woman, remember her) sat at one of my tables. i made silly conversation and they pretended they were a lesbian couple who lived in a house with their cat-i spent the entire test trying to keep a straight test.

still, it kept my mind of the fact that i was molested by a 3 year old child sat at my other table-kid in a high chair that kept stroking my bottom as i walked past.

im surprised i passed as i nearly whacked him with a tray!

wait, was it you that made someone an apple juice and didn't dilute it tho???? ;D

I remember hargreaves did it too tho when Rachid and I did his test, Rachid got cranberry juice that was all thick cordial! :D

    this is indeed the case.

also Toms cranberry juice incident was my fault-it was his test and i was `helping` and gave him the worst cranberry juice ever made

noone told me about diluting the apple juice either - i remember a server asking me to get some drinks for her table and i gave 2 kids pure concentrated apple juice ad the other a 'cherry' coke which was half grenadine and half full sugar coke lmao i bet that family had some fun times

at least on your service test another server didnt trip over their own feet and throw all their dirnks over you and your costume causing you to drop your tray of smoothies which bar has very grudgingly made for you

i didnt like lynda very much and i dont think she liked me - she almost made me cry my first time at costuming! sucked being the only fat one in ym arrival group

Lady Sarah's still there...love her! Lynda's just recently been 'let go' shall we say, which is rather bizarre.

My service test went pretty smoothly, but I know my friend 'killed' her trainer twice with her 'allergy'...and still passed :D Another of my friends spilt ice tea all down the manager. hehe...good times.

Hi guys, another random question, sorry lol.

My mobile phone contract here in the UK doesn't end until September next year and it is gonna cost me over £200 to cancel it, so has anyone who has been before or is over there now any advice on what they did wither their English phones, i'm planning on getting an American phone over there so i wouldn't be using my current phone, and it seems like it would be a waste to just have the money coming out of my account for no reason. Oooh so many little things to sort out before I leave.

Phone up your network provider and ask if you can drop your monthly tarriff down ( with 02 I dropped mine from 30 a month to 10) so will make it cheaper to pay your way out of your contract? If you sell your handset o. eBay or any of the mobile recycle sites (mazuma mob, finebank etc) you may get about 100 for it to go toward paying your way out of your contract?

I have the same problem too Anna, but my contract ends at the end of Jan, think it will cost around £100 to cancel mine or to change it to pay as you go...Really sucks lol. With some companies they will only allow you to drop it down by £5 or £10 per month :s
