Re: When to book return flights for?

Well if this is any help, i was told that u cud use ur hotel discount on the last day, so if u stayd a cupl of days, it wouldnt be too bad. Open returns r usualy expensiv aswel, if ur worried about money, see how the prices vary frm the 31st Aug. Me and my m8 r stayin till the 2nd, bcas wen we booked our flites it was £460 wif virgin, bt £575 if u came bak on the 31st Aug.

Re: When to book return flights for?

Yeah..i'd say its definetly worth staying the extra few days..

We didn't have the problem about the flights being expensive last year..As we finished on 1st September and the flights go down about 15% apparently once it hits the 1st September..

Apparently as well with your discount, you can get a night in the all star resort for something stupid like $30!

So I would definetly say its worth staying another night..I know the all star probably isn't the nicest place to stay..But suppose its worth it just to stay in disney another day and save a bit of money on your flight 2!

You may not be able to use your discount for the 31st. It all depends on when you have to hand in your Disney ID, since you need to show it at check in. If they take it on your last shift (which I believe is usually the case) you would have to check in before that time (again that'd be around the 28th of Aug). If you hand it out when you leave housing you'ld have to check in before 11 AM on the 31st (most likely you'ld have to check in on the 30th in that case).

ANd yes you usually don't work for the last few days of your contract, they need to give you time to pack and such before you leave.

I've never known it to happen to be honest..From what i remember we finished on August 30th last year, So i guess its kind of 2 days early..Maybes that was just how my shifts worked out...Its best if you ask your supervisor when you get there..

Did you hand your disney ID in? i've never heard of anyone having to hand there ID's in when they leave, I met loads n loads of people out there and they've all got them on there walls at university now, as a memento sort of thing...

When did you have to hand yours in? I don't even remember us having the opportunity to hand them in..

My flatmate signed into the hotel on August 31st last year, because we were flying home September the 1st..So as long as you sign in before your clock in card expires, it should be fine, but again you've gotta make sure with the hotel that itll be fine..

Re: When to book return flights for?

I've got a feeling the person has to be staying with you..Although you might possibly be able to get your family & friends discount, don't really know how that works though..So you might be able to do it that way...

Re: When to book return flights for?

Someone could check you in and get you the discount that is true.

I wasn't presented the opportunity to turn mine in (but I know others who've had it taken on the last shift).

My managers told me housing took it, housing told me to give it to my managers thus I still have it. However everyone I talked to that went back without handing their ID in was told at Traditions if they couldn't produce it, it was something like a 30-35 dollar fee to replace the old card that you still had.

So well it's possible you may still have yours on your last day, you also may not based off your work location.

Ok..Cool..I have mine in my wallet still for some reason..Don't even know why i still carry it around and that really..But i was going to take it back anyway..I'd probably blag it anyway and just say that i handed it in to my manager the last day..But they've lost it or something, haha..

I am sure last year our ID card expired the 31st August, but we didn't actually leave until the 1st September..

Re: When to book return flights for?

My ID expried on the last day of my contract last year so I guess there's another possible variable keeping you from getting a hotel on your last day.

I'm probably going to just leave my old one here, and either pay for the new one or blag it the same way (since well you know what I was told by management and housing).

Yeah, i did hand my Chatham ID in..

Although Chatham was pretty awful, its a nice place to live but its sooo boring..I actually disliked it to be honest, just purely because i hate living in boring quiet places!

Re: When to book return flights for?

i still have both my housing and my disney ID, and no one ever asked for either of them when i left. i know some people had theirs taken off them which meant they couldn't get into the parks on the last day, so people had to use their blue pass to sign them in/

I'm going on July 17th and had some quick questions about flight that I hope someone can help me answer:

    1. When's the best time to book flights? Are they going to get cheaper or more expensive as time goes on? They're coming in at around £550 now. And do I have to wait til after my visa interview before I book em?
    2. Do I have to book a return flight? Obviously I'm going for a year so this is proving to be difficult.
    3. If I ask Yummy to book my flights can I make restrictions on things? ie, I'd rather not do my immigration at Newark so don't really want to fly Continental.
    4. What airlines have people liked and disliked? Is it worth paying more and going with a better airline?

Thanks in advance, any advice is appreciated. :)

Re: Some quick questions about flights.

your going for the year yeah???? if so,you only book a one way ticket.
you can book your flight when ever you want (if your booking it yourself,if disney are doing it they wait untill you have got your visa stamp)
If you let them book your flight you dont have any input into the flight - you just get the flight info and go,even if that means going via Amsterdam-NYC-Atlanta-Orlando!!!
Thats why i booked and paid for my own,so that i could fky staight from glasgow to orlando without having to change planes etc!!!

Re: Some quick questions about flights.

the best place for cheap flights that i have seen so far is statravel.co.uk - a flight from gatwick to orlando that costs £550 with the airline costs just over £300!!!

    Well worth a look!

Re: Some quick questions about flights.

(Apparently)I think the thing with the scheduled flight is that it doesn't HAVE to be scheduled, but apparently there is a slight chance it could affect your visa, however slight that chance is...

Best thing to do though is get intouch with yummyjobs before you book the flight and they'll tell you whether its ok to book or not..
