    Hey everyone,

I'm in Merch starting Dec 6th.  Thanks to everyone who has been answering questions.  It makes things so much easier for those arriving soon!  I was a little bit worried about money and stuff, but after reading the other entries, I think i'll be fine.  I can't wait until I actually get to Disney!

    Hey Sheridan,

Which interviews were you at?  I was at the Toronto interviews in March.  Which area will you be working in? :)

There have been many a Merchie that have gone before you and made less money (we actually got a raise halfway through the year because they changed the rate!) and still had the time of our lives!!!

    Any more questions...go ahead.

i think it changes per pavillion and how busy it is ie xmas, thanksgiving and july 4th etc - the busier the park cos of the holidays the bigger the need for staff? ;D

I would like to know what happens the day you arrive. Like in the airport is ther someone there to meet us? And when we arrive at WDW where do we go? What's the deal for the first few weeks we're there?

when u arrive at the airport a disney person is there to meet u, take us to our appartments, then u get a bit of time before your thrown-in (each country ha its own unique way of welcoming new ppl - u will never find out what happens cos no one is allowed to tell us :-\) thats about it for the day u arrive ;D

Cool sounds exciting! I'm glad someone meets us there cause otherwise I'd get lost!! I can't wait for the parties!! I also wanted to ask if we get time off in the beginning. Like before we actually start to work?

I know you're not sure but by saying we get mornings/afternoons off do you mean we only work nights for a bit?

    Do you mean while training?
I spoke to Ellen the other day and she only had that morning of training but other people had to do more training in the afetrnoon, think it just depends on what job you have.
Once passed the training it is shft work not sure on the times though, depends on the time of the year (longer hours in busy times :p)

Hoped that helped - someone who is there maybe able to answer more ;)

That's great, Sheridan!  We'll be working together!  I can't wait!

Another questions to Canadian Merch/Attractions people:  how many hours do you work a week?  I remember hearing at the interviews that you will be given a min of 30 hours, but i would like to know what the average amount of hours everyone gets... :)

Disney is getting closer and closer! That's for sure Mel! Does anyone else find this yr going by fast? I suppose it helps when u work 40 hrs a week either 7am-3pm or 3pm-11pm...haha...that means my days are going by fast!! I mean, I can't believe its almost July!!

Hmm...so I read in another discussion that the internet access is up in the roooms now, which is awesome, cuz I'm bringing a laptop...now I do have a q about that tho...do u guys think it's better to get a wireless card in my laptop, or just get the connection for wired highspeed??
And when should I get my pkg anyway?? Eric said to wait on booking a flight b/c I should have plenty of time, after I get my pkg...and he said to wait for the pkg b4 booking the flight...does anyone know why this is??

    About the internet connection...
I would recomend getting the connection for wired highspeed, if your only going to have your laptop in your apartment... I have wireless now, and sometimes the speed is tormenting, 'cause the signal is bad.... so in that case I wouldn't go for wireless....
Of course if you want to take your laptop aroung with you, to other apartments, aroung your apartment or outside, if it goes that far, you should of course go for wireless...
