I heard that servers at France make much more than $120, that's the average for the other restaurants per day.... French servers get So much more, and also it depends on which of the two restaurants are you working at., If you are going as a pro server you are going to be able to work different shifts at both... French and Italians are the ones who make more tips, because both restaurants are quite expensive. Hope you have good luck with the managers I have heard they are really mean. A lot of pro servers leave soon because they hate the way the managers treat them....

In France and Italy you go as a server because you are actually employed by Chefs de France or Alfredo's. You aren't technically a Disney employee so you get a different ID ( a green one), which means you don't have all the same discounts and stuff. My bf worked in the UK restaurant and bar and easily made $120 a night. Canada has higher check totals too, so they do alright as well.

Merchies do NOT have to stay in while everyone else is out having fun. You'll be fine!

You will end up buying a lot of things like a toaster, blender, iron, ironing board, (I had to buy a computer desk), dry erase board, mop (you can rent those I think), laundry basket, and a bunch of other random Mickey! to clean.

And for money I took $800 with me, it was a little more than what I needed (but more is not a bad thing at all). I’m a month into my program now and I have $300 left from my original $800, and I have just been living off my paychecks.

In the Commons, you won't have to buy a lot of that because most likely you'll be moving in with people who have already been there for a while. DON'T buy a laundry basket!!!! You can always get those at throw-outs from people who are leaving. You don't have to haul your laundry anywhere in the Commons anyways because your washer is in your apt.

Bring as much money as you possibly can. If you have leftover, great. I think I had $1200 and spent it easily!!!!!! Depends on your shopping habits.

For those living in the Commons..we'll be living with people who have been there for a while already? I thought it was all newbies? when will we know where we are living? When we get our packages I guess? I'm really interested in knowing as much as I can before I go and you guys are really helpful...thanks!!

I would also like to ask about transporation.....how often do the buses run to get you to wrko everyday? Is it hard to get used to at first? And what do we do in the first few weeks? How much free time do we have?

Also, does anyone know of any reggae clubs in Orlando close to WDW? I'm a huge fan of reggae and I'm scared o have to live without it for a whole year? IF anyone knows anything please let me know!

    Thanks,

    Brigitte

Yep...Commons kids are spoiled!!! The International Program has arrivals all the time, so most apartments have people coming and going at different times of the year. It can happen that you are all new...or a couple of you...but it's rare. It's better that there are oldies there because you have to buy less stuff...eg. TV will most likely be there already. You'll find out which apt you will be in when you arrive. You get handed a folder and it has your key and apt. number on it. If you are International Program, you'll be in the Commons...if you are College Program you could be Vista Lay...sorry...Vista Way...or Chatham Square.

Buses run every 20-30 mins usually I think...for work at least. It can be annoying, but you'll adapt because you have to!!!! On a regular week, you'll get either 2 or 3 days off depending on the scheduling. During the first few weeks, you may not have that much time off because all the OT falls to the newbies and if it's busy...it's not unlikely that you may work 6 days...but the OT money is nice.

Can't tell you about reggae clubs...closet thing on property would be BET I guess.

I could have used more money!!! You can always use more money!!! Ha ha.

It takes about 30-40 mins to get to work because you had to go through Vista Way. I hear the buses are better these days so I'm not sure. Wal-mart always seemed to turn into a 2 hour ordeal with me...so if I just needed groceries, I'd walk over to Publix and if I bought a lot, I could call and cab and it would only be like $5 to get back to the Commons.
