    hello and welcome.

i dont know if i can answer all your questions but i will give it a shot. most of us here are from england studying at university, as long as you are at university you can do ICP.

have you tried looking at the graduate program? that could be an option.

the best thing to do that i can suggest is emailing the company about what you want to do, they maybe able to point you in the right direction. do you have a correspondent? we have yummyjobs who we can email.

Hope i have helped...though knowing me i have just confused you lol.

    Hi Freckles,

thank you for your quick reply.
Actually you didn´t manage to confuse me totally, just a little bit. ;)
Anyway, thanks for the yummyjobs-hint. I´ve visited their homepage and they offer a Walt Disney World Internation Programms. :D
I read the whole information there, but I couldn´t find any facts about the program dates and the fees. When I apply for that programm, should I just mention the dates I want to come in my covering letter and they answer, whether they have something for me? Or do they just "organise" a job at WDW which would fit my time?
Could you tell me, for how long people usually come to WDW with that programm and what the appropriate costs for the program were? I wrote already yummyjobs, but they haven´t reply yet and I just can´t wait.

    Wish you a good day!

I am sure you can, are there not buses that go to all the parks about all the time?

Njutik: The three programs which yummyjobs offer are The Summer Program, the Cultural Representative program which is for a year and the graduate program which i think can range from 6 months to a year, i the International Cultural Program can range up to 6 months. the only costs i know of is the visa application and to pay for your flightm you do not have to pay to go on the program, there are different little things which you have to pay for but nothing major other than your flight, i hope this has helped but you may have gotten your reply by the time you read this.

Leom has pretty much said what i was going to said.

penny: i know that you can get the ihopper (i think that is what the international drive tram is) to universal studios. though when staying at the resort we got a mears taxi, they werent too bad in price if there are a group of you going.

ive not used any type of public transport in florida, i wouldnt have a clue how to use it or what to do, lmao. Weve always used our car, no wait we used the monorail, does that count?

we found out you need a lot of quarters for the tram lol.

it was cheaper than a taxi and we wanted to give it a shot.

btw are there any beaches near by? i have never been to a beach when visiting florida.

not really any too close, its a bit far for a taxi, but we shud look out for excursions etc.
The other thing is you may meet americans who drove! and you can all go together! :)

and taxi's to I-drive, is nice and easy, and yeah quite cheap really between everyone!! :)

awesome, i went to clearwater the first time we were there, we didnt leave the orlando area last year, i dont even know why, my mum and dad want to go exploring the next time, but my dad is actually very reluctant to go back, he wants to explore the USA, as do i but i still love going to florida. Do you think there will be many people on the program who have got cars?

Some info on transport up International Drive.

The busses provided to us travel to WDW locations, Wal Mart, the Florida Mall, Partners FCU, Premium Outlets and Publix (sorry if I missed any). You can also walk to the Premium Outlets easily from the Commons (and slightly further from Patterson and Chatham). They don't provide free direct links to international drive or the non-disney parks.

The I-Ride trolley runs up and down international Drive passing many of the hotels and tacky tourist spots. From housing you can walk through the Premium Outlets to the bus stop opposite McDonalds (less than 5 mins walk from the Commons). There are two routes Green and Main Line, both go outside the main entrance of Sea World, only main line stops at Aquatica across the road. This is about a 15-20 min ride.
The main line travels up international drive, green line travels parallel to this (and tends to stop less frequently) towards Wet 'n Wild. Only green line travels near Universal Studios (30 min ride) - but does not stop at the main entrance - its about another 10 mins walk from this stop to the park entrances.

The best thing about this service is the price - only 25c no matter where you get off. (just show your ID - reduced from $1 per trip). You will need exact money though, no change given. Busses are all green and look similar to San Francisco trolleys. The route (main or green) is written on the front top left of the bus as you face it. Green run every 30 mins, Main Line every 20 8am-10:30pm - can be an issue if staying for fireworks. (10:30 is the time the last bus leaves the start of the route, giving you some extra time if you're part way along the route). See iridetrolley.com for more info.

Lynx public busses also have routes around the area.

Having said all this taxis are relatively cheap for convenience, especially if split amongst a group, so may be a better option, perhaps $20 to Sea World, $35 to Universal each way.

Going to nearby beaches by taxi could get expensive, just under an hour east or about 1.5-2hrs west. If you want to go to Busch Gardens Tampa, you have the option of the Busch Gardens Express Shuttle for about $10 return, going from the Premium Outlets direct to the theme park (I haven't tried this though).

Hope this info was of use to some, I hope to be returning back soon.

Sorry to clog up the thread with all this info from me, but obviously the easiest way to travel is by car - Orlando is a city made for car use. American College Progam members are more likely to have cars they've driven from home - so may be able to catch a lift with them - useful at the end of a shift to save waiting for crowded busses going on indirect routes - the 45min return trip from Hollywood Studios to Vista Way comes to mind - its only 10 mins away direct. (I worked at MK though)

Nearly all summer ICP's will not have cars as they're only there for 2-3 months, though you can rent for one off trips (bieng 21, or better yet 25 helps for this). Some internationals on longer programs may have arranged themselves a car who you could share with if you become friends. You'll happily survive using the free busses and public transport, though obviously for comfort and speed a private vehicle is better.

Thanks a lot for all the info aj2721!! That was extremely helpful. :)

I think I could survive with the busses.. Heck I do it everyday in my hometown anyway! Once you're into a routine it's not that bad.

Thanks, that has really helped. the only public transport i use is the train as it is the only thing i like. does orlando not have trains, do be perfectly honest i havent seen any at all when ive been in florida except the ones at the parks.
Im sure there will be a few people who i make friends with who will have cars anyway, i hope! I cant hire a car as i was planning to do cause i dont have two years of driving experience.

There are train services to Orlando, but tend to be used for longer distance journeys, for example to Miami. There's a station in Kissimmee as well as downtown Orlando. I haven't used the train but you could look at www.amtrak.com for info, thats what they call their train services. You won't be using the train for day to day journeys though (unless you count the WDW Railroad around the Magic Kingdom or Wildlife Express Train at DAK of course!). Feel free to ask for any more info, its good to be prepared for this fantastic experience.

haha that is possibly teh best episode of top gear ever!!
the bit where they had to just cut to sound cos they had to get away as fast as possible!!

I'll be able to hire a car over there even just for a day or two, but I don't know what the prices are or who to go with!? :-\
