take the stuff of the plane. At least it will be a blanket and pillow. I brought a sheet and fleecy blanket with me along with a cushion.

 

i'm sure we'll be too tired and jet lagged to care that much!

 

i was tired and jetlagged, so tired in fact that i was prepared to spend a lot of money on a taxi to walmart specifically so i could buy bedding for the first night. no frucking way i was doing without.

 

heh awesomes. i'm still weighing up what to do...considering vacuum packs!

 

Matt don't forget you will be arriving in the middle of summer, so you may be able to cope for 1 night without your snuggly duvet!! ;D

 

kirstie let's not forget i come from wales, with our mediterranean climate, so i'm used to having a quilt in the all year round baking hot welsh weather

but seriously, that's a good point, i'm sure i'll cope!

 

Dont forget appartements have air con! Unless all your housemates are happy to live in a hot appartement for the night your room won't be too warm - and arriving in the afternoon/evening won't give much time for the appartement to heat up.

Personally I'd reccomend taking bedding with you. If you've got it at home you may as well take it along and save the money you would spend on it in the USA. You should have enough luggage allowance, if not then you're going to be unable to buy anything to take back home at the end so reconsider your packing - you spend 5 days a week in work costume remember. Hopefully you can carry the bags - its a one off event, you can use luggage trolleys and it gives you the peace of mind not to have to arrange to buy it on the first night. Same advice for other accessories - yes you could buy them in the US, but if you have them at home, you may as well take them along rather than spend.

 

In terms of luggage. I brought one suitcase with me and took two back. I didn't take any bedding with me but took what I bought my comforter set back (a comforter set and pillow only cost $40) and ended up having a lighter suitcases on the return journey. In terms of clothes I took two weeks worth and found that too much as I spent half my time in a costume. If I get out again I am only going to bring enough t-shirts for maybe 10 days and then maybe 4/5 pairs of shorts/short trousers.

no my mum is a legend. We are planning on getting in on the Monday and she is going to leave sometime on Friday. and she has no plans on going into the parks! It's shocking.

I guess... I hope my mum is ok with being a taxi. She said she just might let me have the car to run around and do errands.... But I kind of want her to be there because she has the money
