Really?? If that's the case then I best not be spending all my hard-earned tips on crap then! I think I would start in San Diego, maybe go south of the border for a few days to sample TJ's nightlife! Then work my way north up the coast of cali in a Mustang hopefully!
i know of a lot of my friends that are already doing the programme that have extended for another 3 months. you can do that on the visa we get to go work there!! but i think you must work during those months..
Yeah, you can only extend 3 months for work...otherwise its 30 days for travelling. Apparently extensions are hard to come by at the moment...most people are only getting 4 weeks, if that.
I presume so....I think when you extend for work, your actualy visa gets extended, whereas the extra 30 days for travel might be classed as tourist or something similar.
I don't have any extended time at the end of my visa.. i have to go home when my program is up as the visa process was started a while back. I'll just have to travel about on my time off.
if i do get the extra 30days i might stay 2 weeks after. had a nice long rest at the partners dad house out there.
if u extend the extra 30 days, then that is ur travelling time. You cant go traveling afterwards unfortunately its one or the other. Most people who extend are the ones of have already been everywhere they want 2 go.
Hey guys im new to the forum, i'm amanda, 22 and going to disney in august, working in the uk pavillion in f&b. Well I am planning on saving enough money before I leave to get myself a car when im out there, I did the ICP programme a couple of summers ago and think its a good investment, especially if you want to see parts of orlando that you cant get to on the bus i.e. most of it. Taxis are expensive and the busses to get to work and walmart are pretty infrequent and unreliable. I was able to make friends with americans with cars so managed to get about with them but would defo recomend thinking about getting a crappy car for the year. Gas prices are so low that its cheap to run the main expense is insurance which I should be able to cover with my wages if I pay monthly. Alongside that im going to be partying hard and spending lots of money on going out (its really expensive going out at universal citywalk and downtown disney) and having fun, really not expecting to have any money left to go home with, if you want to have a really good time dont worry about saving and just enjoy urself!
Welcome Amanda. Your in for a treat working in the UK Pavilion with us lot. It will be a great year Is it right that cast members can't use the Disney Guest busses?
As far as I know u can use disney guest busses provided u aint in ur costume! The busses are so slow tho, I relied on getting a guest bus to get from magic kingdom to typhoon lagoon where i was working and ended up being nearly an hour late for work when I thought I had left myself plenty of time!
Yea 18th August is my start date too, yay! Do u know when we will have our visa interviews? I wouldnt mind going over a few weeks b4 if we get the visa on time but havent heard anything about when we will actually get them!
I think its something like 4-6 weeks before our start date. I wouldn't mind going early either, but I'm going away with my family til a coupla weeks before we start so it was be pushing it a bit! I booked my flight on Friday morning- exciting!! There's a thread for us August 18th-ers by the way I just bumped it so its easy to find So what were ya doing there when you worked there before? x x x
Thats cool thanks for bumping that thread for me I worked at typhoon lagoon lifeguarding last time so it will be a totally different experience this time! Does anyone know if you have an f&b position if you can work behind the bar? Yea if we get our visas a few weeks b4 hand think I will go out early
My friend who did the program before and worked in R&C told me it is possible to work behind the bar if you are VERY good and if you're lucky enough to be around when a position become available. But apparently you have to be pretty much amazing lol, and you have to learn all the cocktail recipes etc.
Cool, well I work full time in a bar at the mo and have been doing bar work for about 3 years now so I will keep my fingers crossed lol. I just hope I dont end up in the chippy, my skin will go mad!
Everyone doing F&B will start in the chippy. You'll move to the restaurant within a few moths depending on how good you are
