Mint lol! I have a secret confession too. I browse through Wizards, Suite Life and Life with Derek all the time lol!! I find they just make me feel good and relaxed when I'm stressed with school. :p

I hope we get to know some dates before the holidays! That would be a great gift ;D

A lot of people have been accepted already from the UK! But a lot have also been rejected :( It kind of makes me super nervous!

Me too!! Haha Suite Life was my absolute favourite after That's So Raven (I miss that show!), then my sis showed me Wizards and I got hooked. And it helps that she's 5 years younger than me, so I have a valid excuse to sit down and watch these Disney shows ... "bonding time" lol. The one show that I always switch the channel from though is Hannah Montana - I've tried, but I can't seem to like that show! D:

I know - some of the people I was positive would get in didn't, and I'm really freaked out now esp with all the talk of them reducing the no. of people they're hiring ... :(

I KNOW!!! A lot of those other people are talking about how Disney is on a hiring freeze so they are hiring waaaay less people which makes me super nervous!!!

I also hope we get the dates SOOOON!! I'm super stressed with exams right now so a little Disney would make me feel soooo much better!!!

Yup it's not only Disney who's on a hiring freeze... It's all of Florida. So everyone living down there right now is have a hard time! I'm pretty sure it's the same for other parts of the US as well, considering how bad the economy is lately... Hopefully things will start to get better in the new year!

Haha my sister watched Hannah Montana all the time so I g\join her with that too. She's 6 years younger than me! So I get what you mean by the valid excuse! :p

Ashley-Congrats on getting that e-mail and letting us know what she said! Your hummus pita sounds delicious. There is this local cafe in Sudbury that makes the most amazing thing ever called the pitawich. Its a pita, hummus, cucumbers, and provolone cheese and is to die for! I'm going there for lunch next week and can't wait :). I get huge cravings for it when I'm away at school.

And yes I agree with everyone that I hope we get our dates soon. I'm checking my e-mail constantly hoping there is something.

I have to admit before everyone started to get their results, I wasn't really nervous about the interview but now I'm freaking out, wondering if I will get in. I'm so curious as to how many Canadians have applied and how many they take, and what exactly they are looking for now! Hope everyone is having fun studying, I have three papers due on Wednesday and have not started at all. I really hate how the Theatre department has to make all their stuff due on the same day.

Yeah ... hopefully the economy goes on an upturn next year when we get hired. :D I really can't imagine anyone from these forums not getting in, everyone's been so awesome and friendly and I'm looking forward to meeting all of you for real (and having a great time at WDW!)

Heh Hannah Montana. I do like some of the songs, but there's something about the way Miley Cyrus overacts in her role (though I guess she does need to do so ...) that makes me feel bleh. I love Serena Gomez and her role in Wizards though! The family is all round awesome (haha).

Ariella - the pitawich? BEST IDEA EVER. I clearly need to get some of that stuff or make it! And yes, now I'm all worried about the interviews, especially since the Canadian side of things is clearly still a big blank. I don't even know how many of us applied, lol. And regarding school, good luck!! :) I know how you feel - early this year I scheduled all my classes to be on the same day, thinking that a 4 day weekend was pretty damn awesome. And then I started getting all these tests and papers due on the same day ... not the smartest idea, obviously. Still, I'm so glad school semester is over for me (with only some finals) - good luck to anyone taking finals/having papers due!

One of my good friends from my Cult. Rep. Program ended up finding her prince charming and marrying him down there! Now, this is lovely, but relevant (lol) because she's my "whats the happenin's" contact. She ended up getting hired full time and is working in the World Showcase managing some new event or something. ANYWAY, she confirms my questions and anything I throw at her and they are indeed cutting back on SO MUCH. I would thinka goliath company like Disney would still be able to pull out all the stops, but they didn't get this powerful by being financially unprepared.

I was in a tree lighting ceremony last Christmas/Generic Holiday Season (I included a picture of me and my partner, Pluto, on the bottom of this post :D) and it was AMAZING. It was GREAT FUN to have an overnight shift to train for it. Every night as it got dark a big jingling bus full of international cast members and their disney friends (Donald, Micky, Minnie, Pluto, Chip and Dale, and eventually Goofy) would drive across the promenade. Slowly, haha, not to run over anyone. We would wave and then arrive to the grand tree in the middle of the World Showcase. We then sang and danced and shared some international ways of doing so! And the tree lit up due to our love and caring or something. (haha)

ANYWAY, they have cancelled that WHOLE show. They've also cut back on Extra Magic Hour times (when the park stays open longer for resort guests only). They've also cut back on regular night hours.

Whew! There is DEFINATELY a lot going on to cut back costs, but the thing is, we are CHEAP. Haha, we are bucketloads of eager cheap labourers so I think the last thing Diz would do is cut back on people clamouring for minimum wage. I wouldn't worry too too much... people always get cut at interviews! The biggest changes are large-scale costs, like cutting entertainment and park running costs.

    RIP tree lighting ceremony :(

(ps. It looks lie Pluto is going to SNAP ME IN HALF... haha, this is where we were all looking at the tree as it lit up with magical happiness or some such thing. I also included a pic of us on the bus! I really don't like how I look too much as my hair is all frizzed up from a long humid day of work and I'm all sweaty... but my ego will manage. To the right of the picture is a france attractions cast member! I LOVE THEIR VESTS. So classy!)

Adorable pictures, thanks for that! And yeah, their vests ARE classy.

Man, I feel pretty removed from tv. That's what living on campus, in rez, without a tv, will do to you -- not that I'm complaining, all I do is watch discovery when I DO have tv anyway ... and I watch waaaaay too many movies as it is. *coughgiantassiswhatigetfrombeingfilmcough* lol. But even I know of Hannah Montana...and slightly want to strangl--ERRR PULL HER HAIR.

That pitawich DOES sound delish! We have OODLES of shawarma places around here, and this one AMAZING sandwich/pizza place right down the street... and if I weren't going to the nicest Indian place in town with my frosh tonight [they're writing their chem exam right now..REWARD!], I would definitely have to get a sammich, and sit here and describe it in the minutest of details to you. :D

I'm really sad to hear about all of these cutbacks though ... I guess you've got to keep up with the world, no matter how invincible you seem. But definitely don't worry too much about not getting in, because the insecurity might show through at your interview, and you probably don't want that to happen!

So...keep us updated on interview dates!

Haha so many times I have tried to schedule all my classes the first few days of school to get a long weekend but it never works. Ya, it is nice to have the semester over with. I came home early since I could e-mail in all my papers. It's just so quiet in my house compared to my apartment.

That's so sad about all the cutbacks, especially the tree lightening ceremony (loved the pictures btw!). I know Fantasmic is getting reduced to a few nights a week which I am hoping is just for a few months and not forever.

Here's hoping this is the week we get the interview dates! Did anyone else notice on the Yummy Jobs website they changed the deadline from Dec 15th to Jan 15th? I really hope that doesn't mean we have to wait until Jan to hear!

Did anyone else get the email about the new start date available for Canadians from Kristen? May 3rd!!

And I have a feeling we won't be hearing about the interview dates until last minute...

    I just saw it!! :D

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to make it, since UofT stupidly has its finals in the 1st two weeks of May. :( It was still exciting to get a semi-update though lol ...

*back to studying for finals* :'(

My exam schedule ends on the 16th, so that's deffo not a possibility. The fact they extended the application time makes me think they havn't gotten enough applications, or they're giving extra leeway for the May 3 start date?

Either way, baah humbug. Oh, and hey Amna! - how long was the process after hearing you got through at the interviews? I wonder how long it'll take after hearing the news of getting accepted to have mailing forms and documents, have them received, etc? And of course the entire time I'll be finding a way to get together a little capital for plane tickets and the first weeks of grocery money, all that jazz ;)

It didn't take very long at all - maybe a week, I think, before I heard back! I'm guessing it might take longer for spring interviews because there'll be more people? But I hope not! I took care of my plane tickets already ... grocery money is another story entirely; ALL my money here goes toward food..SNIFF :(

[speaking of which, I caved, went out, and bought boxes and boxes of poppers. Okay, so more like four boxes, but my roomies still had a laugh when they opened the freezer LOL]

They say there's enough time to get all the paperwork done and sent off and received, so I guess I wouldn't worry too too much about that. Sucks about the exam dates though! Why does UofT have them so late? We're done April 30th, so I could only theoretically make it, but I have to be there at the beginning of may for sister's-weddingy-stuff ... which I don't really mind, since I'd like time to breathe after exams and be at WDW later in the summer :) Is it just me or is the earlier May date slightly longer? There's an incentive for ya!

So did anyone say they would do the earlier date? I did since Dal's exams end on the 27th but so far I only know I have an exam in one class. I like that it's a bit longer of a contract plus than I wouldn't be home for close to a month and then taking off. I have to admit when I saw the e-mail I thought for sure it was our interview dates and got wayy too excited :).

That's so exciting you booked your flight! That is definitely one major bonus of knowing now so you could hopefully get a decent deal!

Lol thanks, yeah! And I'm glad you're taking the earlier date, that has to be so exciting! But still no word about interviews, eh ... :(

Lol I think UofT is the school that ends the latest in Ontario. Starting next year (2009-2010) though that's going to change!! We're finally going to be normal like everyone else and end by April 30th. But yeah, it's a shame about the early date because it would have been great to travel after that, and it's a longer period of working time :D

And yeah, Ariella - haha when I saw the email from Kristen I thought it was going to be the interview dates!

    Yup, I said I would Ariella! ;D
And yes, it's pretty much a full 3 months! May 3rd to July 31st!
And I also thought it was the dates! I nearly fell off my chair when I read the subject line :p

Haha, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought it was the interview dates! I do hope we hear soon since I found out this week I need to get an operation sometime soon and I really don't want it to be the same time as the interview because that would be brutal!

I know, I really like the idea of working there for 3 whole months. I don't know if I would do any traveling after though, I might just want to go relax on a beach somewhere in Florida and then go home. I totally realized tonight that if I get the job, this could very well be the last time I am home longer than 2 weeks until August! Ohhh exciting :)
