HAHAH so much to reply to! And yeah, I think we're all a little too quick to reply - but I swear I did my entire quota of studying today! [A-type? What are YOU talkin' about?]

um..so..foodfood <3 I am slightly obsessed. I will definitely be killing time making a list of everywhere I want to eat before I leave, haha! I'm trying really hard not to waste my time doing it now. It doesn't help that right now, I'm just hunngweeee. And waiting for someone to AGREE TO SOME DINNER WITH ME.

And unfortunately, I won't be 21 when I'm in Florida. :( [SHUCKS!] Yeah, THAT's not going to feel patronizing at all coming from Canada...lol. And hey, since you go all the way out there to audition ..I'm sure they wouldn't just send you back if you don't get a face/fur role. I know what you mean though - a face charac would definitely be tops. Speaking of which, Ashley, I LOVE the pictures of you as snow white - adowable, with a cutesy w! emily135, is it sad that I know the blog you're talking about? haha! but yeah, it was so helpful!

I've heard about the world drinking nights before! They sound like fun ..a fun krunked-fest LOL. I'm definitely a bigger fan of Flip Cup than Beer Pong..which can take foreeverrr sometimes.

How was the attraction you worked on? Which one did you do by the way? [ignorance: Canada pavilion HAS attractions?] I definitely creeped your facebook albums [before deciding there were far too many to actually look through/comment on in creeperly fashion] and saw the LOVELY, dashing, ravishing lumberjack outfit.

Ps..this IS the perfect distraction to painting! mad props on hitting a beautiful combination.

Your signature has sent me on mission to get a cheese plate from the caff! Haha *shakes fist*

Yeah, Canada has an attraction! THE COOLEST ONE EVER.

Haha, okay, the World Showcase is not famous for it's 'rides'. We have a movie, a 360 movie, just like China, where you lean on the lean rails (if you sit on them crocodiles will eat your face... haha INCENTIVE, YOU LAZIES, we always had to ask the 300 pound sweaty toursits to get off of them). It has Martin Short in it, and sweeping scenes of niagara falls and the banff springs hotel and bla bla bla it's all very lovely :) Kinda cute, too.

OMG if you are a big fan of food we must must get you into Le Cellier. It is the #2 restuarant in ALL OF DISNEYWORLD after that place where it's like 100$ a plate... (some fancy place in the fanciest resort, The Grand Floridian). The Cheddar cheese soup is made with smoked bacon and a splash of Canadian moosehead bear and smells great (though Ive never tasted it, as a vegetarian).

Not being 21 isn't the biggest loss. After all, I wasn't 21 when I was there. And I got up to some fun shenanigans, as you can see ;)

And thanks! I wore that costume to the magic kingdom for the Pirate and Princess Party and had FIVE moms ask me to take pictures with their kids. I was like "Ahhh!!!" and in line for the Haunted Mansion one mom harassed me for a signature and just wouldnt LEAVE ME ALONE. This is also where every photo pass person we took pictures with asked if I was a cast member in entertainment, and when I said I wasnt in entertainment they told me to audition. I was like "d'awww thanks guys YOU MADE MY NIGHT". Also, at kidcot, I always had moms bending over and whisper-asking if I was working in France that morning as Belle and I was like "heck no I have been sitting here being harassed by brazillian tour groups I WISH OH MAN".

Twice I was asked if I was Jasmine. This wtf'd me because my family background is Ukranian.

    Ukranian =/= Arabian Princess, lololololol

amnahp12-I'm so glad our contract dates are earlier so that way we don't have to wait too long between school finishing and Disney starting!

ashleydawn-It must have been so much fun being a CRP! I always wanted to apply to be one but the timing never worked out which is why I'm so glad there's the ICP program!

Hey ariella! I know - I can't imagine going to all this effort to be there for, I don't know..a month. Or something ridiculous like that. Not to mention that the time we ARE spending there still seems so short! I'm seriously considering applying for the CRP after I graduate and do an exchange somewhere else. Hope it holds up to expectations! Although waiting a month still seems like an extraordinarily long time for me lol.

and ashley ...yeah, cheese, I am a HUGE fan of cheese. Hahah....every time there's an awkward silence, there's normally an audible 'I love cheese' in the background. Thaaaat...would be me. And food? I am a GIANT fan of food. My life revolves around food. We will definitely Le Cellier it up. And I know what you mean, I'm vegetarian too. Of sorts. Sometimes a pain when you try to eat something and nope - you can't. Shucks. Wait -bear? It's made with bear? Ohh beer? LOL. I don't drink either. Wooow sad! So yeah, not being 21 is not a huge loss on my end. :DThat attraction in Canada sounds pretty awesome!

Your costume was deffo [I just said deffo ...] awesome! You make a GREAT snow white! and i can totally see how people commenting would totally make your day, that's sooo adorable.

Haha, I totally meant "Beer". Haha auuuugh, otherwise.

The reservations to get into Le Cellier usually have to be made 6-ish months ahead of time. Yeah, THATS how popular it is. But obvie I know the people working there, so if I end up getting my butt down there we can sidle on in. They usually try to make exceptions for cast members anyway, but still, it depends on who's seating and how generous they feel to scramble to fit a cast member into a tight schedule. You can also request ahead of time that they make their famous recipes to your specifications, whether that is vegetarian, allergy aware, halal, kosher, whatever, or just without tomatoes or onions. Haha, oh Disney, how you cater to our every whims.

I say deffo all the time... haha no worries. I love the english language, and aside from the internet, I am a total grammar fanatic. But I do find a delightful irony in using words like 'deffo' and 'obvie' and 'f'sho' and such things... heee :3

Yeah, the costume had it's ups. Out of all the countries, it's just Japan and Canada that have the girls wearing pants. Soooo special :p Although they weren't really pants... you had the choice between either old man shorts with a major built in pooch or coolots that kind of look like khaki skirts that I actually immensely enjoyed (once I got into the habit of wearing them 4 sizes up... sooo comfortable when they're not worn 'properly', aaah haha!).

And yeah a year is so lonnng to commit to! Lucky for me I didn't want to jump into Uni without a really great experience or three... so I made sure to do a program called Katimavik, to live in a different province with friends and work at a really cool job, and then Disney. With those finished I felt it was time to commit to four years of fabulous debt-and-educational-havoc, haha. But the summer break is mine to work and have a good time of it as well!

Ya, I definitely think if I get the job, I will be applying for more positions at Disney. I might be transferring back to Brock next year to go back into drama and education, and apparently Brock has a partnership with Disney now so I could apply for the six-month ICP program! Of course Brock has to take me back first :D

I guess that's the one good thing about my interview being in 09, I won't have that long too wait between finding out and going! Haha, just writing about Disney and there's an ad on TV for Disney Parks lol! Anyways, the one good thing about you knowing now is you have a long time to get everything organized.

Ashley-That's awesome you did Katimavik! How did you like it?

All this talk about food is making me so hungry! I love the food we have here in Canada but the States just have such amazing restaurants we don't have here, like the Olive Garden :'( My mom took me there our last day in Florida this summer and it was just the perfect way to end our trip!

Ahaha! It's ACTUALLY delightful that the conversation always reverts back to food. :D <3 *lovelove*

I suppose the food in Canada is okay ... I don't even really know what's here [other than ..hm...Moxies? That's not even Canadian, is it?] I wouldn't know, haven't been here all that long! But man, I REALLY miss IHOPs and Jack in the Box and Sonic's and *real* Johnny Rockets ... my my, how I could go on ;) I definitely cooked some KILLER rigatoni last night. *is jumping delightedly thinking about it* YES late night snacks while studying for midterms..tomorrow! [errr...]

ariella, I totally didn't know about this Brock-Disney thing lol - good luck getting in so you can go, that would be so perfect! And I totally know what you mean about being glad about the extra time waiting for your interview.

Ashley - I remember Katimavik! Haven't met many people who've done it, though. How did you like it? And Disney actually specially makes halal/kosher? THAT is actually very impressive. *will be taking advantage* It sounds like you had a pretty great plan for pre-uni ...what did you do while on Katimavik?

I am huge on captain grammaring too lol. But the fo'shizzle m'nizzle and homie's will always have a special place in my heart ;) the same place I reserve for cholesterol and heartburn, yes, but special nonetheless.

ps..the more you say coolots, the more I giggle. coolots! <3 love.

lol You're all hilarious! I <3 us Canadians :D And we used to have the Olive Garden here! At least I thought we did here in Ottawa, a LONG time ago. I remember going there for Mother's Day. It closed not too long afterwards though and Swiss Chalet took over the location, which, I'm not going to lie, is also a great place to eat :) And I agree with Ariella, all this talk about food is making me hungry too!

I saw the stuff about Brock-Disney. But it said you had to be in Hospitality or something I think? I'm in Computer Science! I would so go back and study for an extra year though if it meant I would be at Disney for 6 months AND gets some school credits while I'm there! What's better than that?!

Wow this has grown so long!! I haven't been back on the boards for ages thanks to school, but first - congratulations are in order! amnahp12 (and anyone else i might have missed out on) - congrats for getting in!! :) I can't wait for the Spring interviews seriously, now I sort of wish I had done the Oct 29 ones so I would at least have an idea of what I'm doing next Summer.

And foood - I love eating :D So I'll probably be spending most of my salary there (if I get in, *fingers crossed*) on eating!! Can't wait to meet fellow foodies. Also, I won't be 21 when I get there, but I will turn 21 when I am there (hey Ginabelle!) - so it's going to be epic, and I'm so excited. And I'm not that big on the drinking thing either, I can definitely wait two months before I get to drink (good time to take a break and step away from the alcohol ...), plus I'm sure there's definitely like 101 other things to do at WDW (like ride every ride 5 times or something, haha)

Hope to see the rest of you at the T-dot interviews in Spring!! <3

haha! Yeah, I hate when I've been away so long the conversation's gone on and I just ... don't have the heart to sit there and make myself reading it all. So, kudos! And thank you! Definitely the major reasons I took the early interviews was because I have too many courses next semester and in case I didn't get in, I needed to apply for a summer exchange program by the end of this year. *must...not...waste...summers..arrrrrgh*

Apparently Canada also used to have Hot Cheetos. They kill everything that's good. I definitely know what you mean about all your money going towards eating...even know, I only spend money on food. ALL my money. How horrifically embarrassing. [Or not ... ] So, that's DEFINITELY where my leftover salary will go lol. We can be partners in going-broke-eating crime. [awwwkwwaard] lol. I LOVE FOODIES. LOVE. <3

Hey! There's still an Olive Garden out here in Winnipeg!!! I loooove that place with the endless breadsticks!!! mmmm I love food too!!!! Who doesn't really?!! I'm so excited!!! It's horrible! In my massage class tonight, my prof keeps telling us to do nice long strokes after we do deep work and he calls it "giving the muscles some dessert" and he says it soooo many times that all I can think of is dessert and I get so hungry!

Oh, Sonic Burger, I looooooove their food! I tried so hard to make it there during my vacation but it didn't happen. We will have to go there for sure if I get in :) Ya, I think this Brock/Disney deal is fairly new since it was not there when I went there :(.

Okay, and hot Cheetos? What are those? I love Cheetos so I'm really curious lol! Now I really want some Cheetos haha!

Ya, I remember when there was an Olive Garden in Toronto because my mom would always take me there whenever we visited. Why they closed them I'll never know! But yes Swiss Chalet is good also :) I loooove their Chicken sandwich. And an Olive Garden in Winnipeg? Sooo lucky! And I agree their breadsticks are amazing.

Wow, I'm going to have to check into the Brock thing to see if Dramatic Arts majors can do it but I still plan on going back to Brock. It'll just be an added bonus if I can do the longer program :).

Is anyone else going crazy waiting to hear about when our interviews will be? I know applications close on the 15th so maybe we will hear around then?

I just remember Sonic's ice....and apparently jalapeno poppers? But I don't remember ever actually eating there. The month I'm spending at home before running off to Florida is definitely going to be spent making a list of all the places I want to eat at while there! And other lists for everything I want to do...everywhere I want to go *slightly shamefaced* What's that? A to-do list freak? NUH-UH

Hot Cheetos are like Cheetos but red and spicy. I don't actually like regular cheetos ...but I grew up on these! I also LOVE Top Ramen Chili flavor noodles..but those aren't sold here either! ARRRGH.

So, did you say apps close 15th? Dec 15? Hmm some of my frosh probably want to apply, I should let them know...thanks!

And ps...Olive Garden has BREADSTICKS?! I've never gotten breadsticks at Olive Garden's! *mutters* rascists ....

pps ... you have a massage class? *eyes glaze over and twinkle anime style* you're going to be HOUNDED in Florida. [not by me, but by everyone else! ha ha!] that's awesome! mmmmmm dessert ...

I'm heading to East Side Mario's right after I post this... haha, talking about breadsticks and pasta and ahhh this is going to be great. Plus, FREE BREAD. I fa-reakin' love their Home Loaf. Endless warm home loaf. Oh that sounds redic haha.

I missed SO MUCH CANADIAN food from my year away. I mean, it's technically not Canadian (hullo Cadbury and the UK!) but when you can't get a coffee crisp and the kit-kats are made with shoddy chocolate with anti-melting chemicals added in due to US regulations and all those other things... AND OH MY GOSH. *NO* Dill Pickle chips! I died! I had friends moms sending them to me because the United States does not believe in Dill Pickle Chips (Or All Dressed, my second fave.)

Katimavik was the most amazing experience of my life, close after the ICP :) Nine months of volunteerting for community causes with 10 other strangers from all over Canada... of whom I grew to love more than some family, haha, in rickety old rented houses with vegans and vegetarians and all sorts of ideas about what a clean bathroom really is and how to make a plastic mattress into a sledding device on slow days... ahh I have so many stories, and memories, and I really want to do everything I can for that organization. It only does astronomically amazing things for everyone involved!

There is definately a million other things to do other than drink... and it's better on the wallet, for sure! I'm hoping to save a few dollars over the summer so I may end up not drinking. Not by choice though because I do like a responsible night cap or five ;)

I wonder if they do phone interviews for this program, too? I got an email saying my CV (resume, I guess) was accepted and read over and what not, but now I am in a limbo of not knowing when the next step will occur. Baaaaah...

East Side Mario's accepts our student meal cards I AM SO EXCITED AHH

Haha, don't worry I do to-do lists too! I have so many post-its on my wall of things I need to do before I go home in two weeks.

Those hot cheetos sound awesome! Ya, it says please apply by Dec 15th on the yummy jobs website to be considered so I'm assuming applications close then. Yes, Olive Garden has breadsticks. They are so delicious!

Mmm, East Sides! I love their Angel-Hair pasta, and Italian wedding soup! Seriously, I hate how far Swiss Chalet and East Sides are from downtown Halifax. It's like an hour bus ride to get to one of them, and it takes forever for delivery. I definitely think I will be stocking up on Swiss Chalet and East Sides when I'm home for a month!

I heard about the no Kit Kat bars but no Coffee Crisp? Might have to bring some on the plane with me! Ohhh, I love Dill Pickle chips too, along with Ketchup! Seriously I can't wait to go home for the holidays and splurge on junk food lol!

Wow, Katimavik sounds like an amazing experience! Ya, even though I'm over 21, I doubt I'm going to do much drinking down there. There's so much I want to do if I get the job so the extra money would definitely come in handy.

Ya, they do phone interviews for the ICP. Hopefully you hear about yours soon!

East sides! So you won't believe this, but after living here for almost a year and a half, I JUST learned that we do, in fact, actually have East Sides here in London. [You can imagine I went berserk heading over and stuffing my face]. I. LOVE. Their homeloaf. LOVE. I'm really not any kind of fan of any of their entrees, so I absolutely love going there, ordering something, taking that home, but stuffing my face on soup and bread LOL. [I think it's time to just start ordering their soup.]In fact, I'd be so down for some now ... except that I'm making pasta. lol. Considering the possibility of all of us ending up in Florida at the same time...we will DEFINITELY have a hot cheetos spree! And kit kats...well, I thought canadian kit kats tasted really weird when I first moved here, but I don't really eat chocolate all that much anymore so it's a bit of a non-issue! hehe! So I hope YOU had fun at East Sides *sniff*

And on an aside, I'm glad you had such a great time at Katimavik! I know how you feel, if I had the time to do it, I would too, but I have way too many other plans...damn you, busy student life. It's okay though, I have no qualms about living vicariously through other people! ;)

PS..according to google, apparently we have an Olive Garden here in London, too. *sneaky sneaky grin*

I hope you hear about your phone interview soon too! and yeah, your CV is your resume, but what I'd really like to know is what that stands for... ohhh "curriculum vitae" .... google is my best friend. :)

amnahp12: haha I like the term partners in going-broke-eating crime ... I'm definitely game. You have no idea how much money I spend on eating cake (I love, love dessert. Especially cake. I need to marry someone who can bake and loves baking, haha!)

emily135: you have a MASSAGE CLASS?? Is this at university?? the closest I come to is like, yoga class. ):

ariella: I love Swiss Chalet too. And I am going crazy regarding the interviews. I wish they would tell us when our interviews would be ... I've signed up with the Yummy Jobs site, but no news yet. I sort of need to know if it's going to be during Reading since I'm planning to go on a build (for Habitat for Humanity at UofT) to New Orleans ... but obviously if the Disney interview comes by then I'm definitely going for the interview!

AshleyDawn: Wow, I had no idea what Katimavik was and just googled it up. It sounds pretty amazing - definitely something I want to think about if I don't get into Disney :)'( I really hope not though, heh).

What is this Olive Garden!! :( The website looks amazing, I really need to get more shifts at work to pay for my foodie trips ... gah. And does the Kit Kat taste different from the ones in the States? I don't actually think I've eaten Kit Kat here (though I love Coffee Crisp) ... the ones back home (Singapore) were really good though, I think they came from Australia or something. And I whole-heartedly agree about drinking - in fact, it's really nice to see that people aren't that big on drinking, I'm also hoping to save most of my money/spend it on a roadtrip around US after that.

Hahaha I love how the focus of this thread has turned from Disney to food :D I love it!!

and yes, that massage class is one of my university courses! I'm in Athletic Therapy (sorta like physio for sports injuries but waaaay better) so all my classes are very hands on/practical and I love it!!

I am also anxiously waiting the dates and locations of the spring interviews. I really hope they are during reading week because I don't really want to miss much school!!

I did have a crazy dream about the interviews last night... it was pretty bad... the interviewer started doing a magic trick then she had a sports injury that I had to take care of. And my parents were both there in the interview... Aaaaah school and Disney mixing together in my dreams!! Not cool!!

  19. amnahp12

    amnahp12 New Member

School does not need to mix with Disney ...except when school gives you credits for it ;) lol.

mint: I love baking too! I usually end up sticking whatever I can get my paws on in the oven. What can I say; everything tastes better baked. And who doesn't love desserts?

emily135: I think we are all sufficiently jealous of you. lol. That seems like an extremely cool profession; at least, its very different from what you normally hear!

as for the Kit Kats ... I don't know, I found that the ones in Canada were pretty funny tasting. Actually...they were slightly revolting. Ironically, the Australian exchange students on my floor said the same thing! LOL. Making no judgements about the nationalites of chocolate..no sirree. But it's funny we speak of Kit Kats; where I work, in a sculpture workshop for art students on campus, last night one girl was working on a giant cardboard replica of a Kit Kat bar [it was actually ridiculously cool. I have a HORRIBLE picture of it on my cellphone lol.]

One more thing...other than Katimavik, you might want to look into something called SWAP [www.swap.ca]; it's an organization that helps you to work abroad. It's actually really cool, and at least worth checking out :)

I hope you guys hear about your interviews soon!

I got an email today from Kristen saying she'll be making phone call interviews in the next three weeks, so things are moving. Sloooowly, hahaha.

I did check out SWAP! Heee! It's a pretty independent program however, and before I strike out finding a job and a place to live on a work abroad program, I'm going to take advantage of structured programs, aka Disney programs. I know I'll somehow find a way to live in the gutter in the streets of London by a series of poor choices and happenstance.

But yeah! All the chocolate bars taste different in the US.. mostly they're made in american factories and have different additives and chemials, I think.

And amna, that sounds like the coooolest job everrr.
