HA HA HA HA HA Ya man I totally agree.... My last choice was F&B, but the position became available and I took what I could get. It just seemed right. You go there for a new experience and what better way to start off in something, than at Disney?! I'm super pumped...Just a little nervous about spilling soup oon someone or something! tee hee hee
Hopefully the magic of the parks will be enough for them not to get mad at me...I find normally if you tell the person you're just learning they are a little more patient with oyu in most cases.....Even when I started working in the hotel business and stuff on the desk..I had no idea what I was doing tee hee hee SO....Was the guy mad? ha ha
It was a woman actually, and luckily she wasn't mad But if the guest gets upset, Disney gives them free clothes so they have something to wear in the park...
Free clothes?? I HOPE someone spills something on me lol.. So do you know if you'll be in a quick or full service position cuz you'll really only have to worry about spilling on ppl if you're serving, and believe me it can be hectic. I can't imagine how busy it'll be at restaurants in the parks but I'm guessing very! But hopefully there won't be any jerk like I sometimes get at my job now cuz there everyone will be infected with Disney magic lol. But if you're serving just stay calm when it's busy, keep smiling and if you do spill on someone just tell them to go on Splash Mountain to wash up lol.
Haha, good one ;D Disney does that because it's very important to always keep the guests happy while they're in the parks! But you'll met stupid guests anyway! There's always that guest that truly believes that you're the reason it rains or the monorail broke down. And there's the guests that know about Disney going a long way to make guests happy. Some of my friends were even blamed for being racists. There was a black family going on the Norwegian ride, the maelstrom, and they wanted to sit on the front row of the boat. The boat in the load position already had someone in the front row, so the CM said that they could, but they just had to wait for the next boat, which was right behind the other boat. The family got angry and accused the CM's of being racists and they got a whole week for free at a Disney resort. Even though the managers new the CM's didn't do anything wrong at that the guest probably just did this to get something.
Ya, we have a tonne of people try to do that at the hotel that I work at as well. They know that we have to try and go above and beyond, and they complain about the smallest things, and they always get either reimbursed or a free stay the next time they are in town...But that's what Disney is all about...But it almost seems if you give them something like that you are taking blame and your friend obviously didn't do anything wrong...I don't like people like that! Oi!
Yes, it's sad with people using the system. Because of them, some people who really have been through something don't get help... That happened to me at one of the good neighbor hotels at downtown disney. I bought two pairs of sketcher shoes that got stolen from my room, they weren't even out of the box yet. The manager basically accused us of lying, even though I could show them the receipt and everything. That sucked, $120 right out of the window...
Oh my goodness that's terrible! I think a lot of us think that we are going to be that one person that makes a difference all the time, but really, there are people that just play the system like you said, and they could be having a great trip, but they really couldn't afford it, so they get discounted stuff left and right.....I just don't understand it... And really...Isn't it about the kids having fun?! That's my biggest beef.....People forget what visiting Disney is all about.....Very frustrating!
Those scammers!! But yeah you get that all the time in the restaurant business too. People that complain about food and such cuz they know they can get it for free. I know you can't do anything about it really...just smile and nod lol. But I just couldn't imagine doing that in Disney World (or Land) I'd feel like I was tainting the great atmosphere or something haha. Unless there was something really wrong of course but even then I'd feel bad about complaining cuz I know what they must be thinking...
Seriously...I wonder what people think.... Other guests would look at them as if they were just trying to get something as well I think...In my opinion anyways... You'll always have every walk of life down there though, so you just have to grin and bear it, and hope that the good outweighs the bad....Which I'm sure it will...It's Disney World!!
