do canadians actually say abooot for about like in southpark, did you guys find that movie offensive?
Awww, poor Tazzy. Nothing wrong with Canadian accents, nothing wrong at all, I can certainly think of worse ones. Canadian accents just not as PWARRR as southern US in my opinion, then I have very strange taste
hahaha we dont say aboot.....we even had a beer comercial with steriotyped canadianna....and south park wasnt offensive at all especially since the creators i believe are canadian....i think were the only country that can make fun of our selfves...
Nah, us brits make fun of ourselves all the time, it's a national pass time along with talking about the weather and whinging
Scottish bf and his friends in Florida said I said aboot and the infamous oot. I'm very concious of not saying eh. I think I became even more concious of NOT doing it down there. I'm from Toronto and don't think I have an accent at all...but apparently... Shan
Well, I guess it depends who you talk to really. lol I never really got into the show really eventhough I seen the episodes where they were making fun of Canada. If a poll was done at the time it was first aired, I believe the polls would of been mixed. As for me, well I'm not a big fan of people or shows making fun of other countries but thats my opinion. LOL Anyways, I don't think Canadians find the show offensive in general. But there was one episode which I believe some might question the timing of it being aired. However, that is another subject that's unrelated to this one. As for me, well I really don't pay a attention to what about countries or people say about Canada. What can I say, I'm a pround Canadian and I love my country. Gary
How random! Three west end-ers on here! I live just of Byres road at Hillhead. Can anyone else hear it ............. ??? ......it's a small world after all ........ ;D ;D ;D Ona x
I remember when a guy from Nottingham, England that I was dating told me that I had the sexiest accent. I almost fell over laughing! In my opinion, Canadian accents aren't exactly the epitome of SEXY! But I do love a good British accent... English, Scottish, whatever... it's alllll good. For example, James Blunt is THE SEX and it's mostly because of that lilt to his voice when he's singing, which comes from his accent. Sigh.
Ahh I love the "english accents" lol. I never knew there were so many different kinds until reading this thread! I knew there was scottish/irish/..and then english, but none other then that haha. Awesome!
Hehe I'm terrible at picking up accents...as soon as I got here I switched to an american accent...tis weird. But then even in the UK I'm told I don't have a strong english accent because no one can tell where I'm from... (us lot down in Surrey don't have accents lol) I've been told my accent is posh though...actually someone used to tease me at school because I actually said 'butter' by sounding out the 't's' rather than 'bu'er' Just try saying 'proper chocolate' and 'aluminium' over here... everyone at work laughs themselves silly when I say it
These Americans are crazy... It's aluminium! There's two Is in it! It's not aluminum! It's aluminium!!!

I'm from Newfoundland and I'm very proud of my Newfie accent (actually dialect)! Best sayings ever "Stay where you're to till I comes to where you're at.", "Waddya at b'y?", "How's she cuttin?" and "See ya de week". ;D
