I'm studying in Lancaster (UK) at the moment and hail from about 40 miles south.

What are people studying? I'm doing a degree in Sociology (what people call a Mickey Mouse degree for all the wrong reasons) I'm currently writing a dissertation about Solid Modernity within Disney Resorts.

As for the interviews, hopefully we will know within 4 weeks as Kristen mentioned to me. I'm placing m guess as mid-March. Ugh.

I wish I could have done sociology. I did social anthropology in 1st year and wish I'd stuck with it.

Now I'm doing social and economic history - talk about Mickey Mouse subjects. ;)

I'm a 4th-year French student at Warwick :) I've had a bit of a struggle this week about whether or not to jack the Disney idea and run for election as a Students' Union sabb officer running the Union ents programme for a year...but Disney won. Student politics kills me anyway ;)

Trying to concentrate on non-Disney things at the moment e.g. work but it's not going so well!! Just got a new tattoo tho so that's taking my mind elsewhere!!

Oh yeah and I'm from YORKSHIRE baby yeah!!

I think Student Ents would be a hard job coz there's always people who moan know mattter how good the thing was or how much work went into it.

    Where do ya work?
New Tattoo cool whats it of? Hope it not visible to the Disney peeps ;)

I'm at Sheffield Uni and i'm in the last year of my genetics degree. And have decided that I don't want to work in a lab after 3 years. So I have no idea what I want to do. But I do know that I want to go back to disney. I had so much fun working there over the summer but it was way too short. Hopefully we will all get to go. Unlimited places is promising.

Hmm looks like many of us have spent so much time studying something we dont really wanna do!

Yea I was just thinking about that unlimited places thing- means I'd feel even worse then if I dont get it!

It's in the middle of my back - so basically noone sees it unless I show them (which as I got it done on Monday, I'm doing quite a lot at the mo lol!!) I've already got one so I know that Disney are big tattoo nazis - but this one won't be a problem :)

The XI in Roman numerals actually stands for the number of my building at Vista Way (go Building 11!!) over the summer - but also more generally as a reminder to not forget the good times!! :)

And I take your point about the ents program - my best mate is currently doing the job I was gonna run for and she adores it but its pretty frustrating seeing the flak she gets regardless of what she does :(

    Pretty uninteresting.

It's all about creating a project of order. Creating a new society/community through social engineering, creating an ordered society, redesigning society.

I'm writing partly about the Celebration town in Kissimee. The theory works on the basis that current society is but a network of flows which eradicates time and place.

    Bet you're asleep now. :)

I gotta go write some of it today. Talk about making Disney Extra Dull.

That actually sounds really interesting!! My disseration is on whisky advertising and how it indicates changing trends over time in Scotland. Bleh... Writing about Celebration sounds much more interesting! :D

Something I wanted to pick your guys brains about too was if my graduation is in July and I miss it to go on the course, will I still technically be graduated? Will Disney still let me go if I've completed my degree but haven't actually graduated Uni? Because if thats the case I don't think I could go for the July one...

Yea I was wondering that but I think surely if you pass all your exams and stuff that you''ll graduate anyway regardless if you're actually there or not..
Hmm did it say in the Pdf file that this was opening to people on a placement aswell? If so they wouldnt be graduates anyway!

I think if you miss graduation then you will still be a graduate. I would assume that since there is a leaving date in july that you have to have actually attended graduation to go but it might be best to email and ask.

I think I'll see how my application goes etc and if I get in I can ask. Its just it seems like there's a whole load of people looking to go in October, so it might help my chances if I apply for the July window. :D

Edit: Something else I wanted to ask - does anyone know where those in the hospitality program will be staying? Is in the Commons/Chatham Sq or the Treehouses? Or somewhere else entirely?

I can't remember when the leaving date is? Is it July 7th or July 15th?

If I got in my graduation is on July 11th or sometime around, although exam results are issued mid to late June, so I will have proof of my classification.

Technically, between finishing Uni and graduating, you are known as a 'graduand.' It's kind of purgatory. I would probably go to my University House and ask if I could have my graduation certificate a few days early. My University may give the scroll out at graduation, but this is a fake and it is posted to your house mid august. So technically I wouldn't have an official scroll by July anyway.

Also bear in mind, it's not essential to attend a graduation ceremony, and many UK companies start their graduate schemes before people have attended graduation.

I would also prefer to go in October, because I could stay with Sainsburys through the summer and earn £3,000 plus, which would set me up for the trip. But July's fine too, I'll just be in a bit of debt.

They're both in Chinese. The one on the left means Power or Strength, and the one on the right means Belief or Confidence. My first tattoo is in Chinese too and means Courage so they all match :)

With regards to graduation, the actual ceremony itself is not a compulsory element of graduating - many people choose not to attend their ceremony or can't. I know I personally can defer my graduation ceremony but I don't know how long for and I don't know what consequences that has for the programme in terms of when I get my certificate...

I think you get a fake scroll in the ceremony anyway!!

Just found out my graduation is on the 25th of June so I'd be able to make the July one. :D

I'd rather go to the October one though. The timing/weather would suit me better. 8)
