It's true. an American mate of mine did the CP a 2 years ago and left her Vista savings account open with $300 or so in it...when she came back last summer and went to use the account they told her that not only was it empty, she now OWED Vista $27. True story!!

she lost 300 dollars over three years? that's insane. How much were they charging her per month?

No idea but Vista charge you a non-use fee as well if you don't use the account (which I guess means put money in regularly) so that's how they got her. I didn't use my savings account after I opened a checking one and the $35 or so I left in there was gone by the end of the summer and I owed them $2.50

Also, I won't go into details (mega-complicated) but they made an admin error on my account and processed 3 transactions out of date order, and that put me overdrawn. $118!!! They wouldn't waive it either even though it was their fault.

Whenever i went into the bank, i just used to hear them behind the wall saying how much they loved my accent..It was alright after the first couple of times people say it..but then it just gets like a broken record!!

I think someone mentioned the criminal background check being £11..

Yummy rang me up about it before..because they had noticed someone had posted it on here(this was a while ago)..And told me that there's is additional fee's that goes on top of that..So by the time all the fee's and things have gone onto it..They don't make any profit on it or anything..

if you didn't go in to close it then it'll still be open, but you'd still have the card etc if it was closed too! But yeah, you go in in person and ask to close the account.

Vista isn't the only choice though. You can open with an actual bank, can't remember which one they recommend and I can't remember locations off by heart. I just know that Bank of America is miles away so not a good idea to use them (alas, I wanted to reopen my account with them). I think it's SunTrust, but don't quote me on that.
