yeah ok, thanks. i was just looking at that actually, option a and b, so i take it the sta insurance cover is pretty good, but it only covers for 12 months, wright? as i'll be there for 13 months with the extra 1 month travelling at the end, has anyone got cover for 13 months?

Ah ok...that's probably a bit different then.

Well if I am death I think I don't care if the insurance will give me money...

In general I would say if you have enough money right now take an insurance from your country.
I am always skint (like every student :p) and took the Disney one last time and didn't had a problem at all. I went to the doctor once and had to pay 20$+ 9$ for medicin. I asked a friend who lives in Orlando and was covered by the Disney insurance while she was pregnant and she told me that everything was fine.
You can always just take the 4 months insurance now. Once you're in Orlando you'll get all the info about the Disney insurance (the real one not the yummy one) and then u can decide if you take it or extend the other one.

It means that if you die they will pay out the money to fly your body home or to have a decent burial whilst abroad. Otherwise your family has to cough up the cash and it can be expensive - as they have to pay for your body to be flown to the uk and funeral expenses on top of that which runs around £5000 i think

just for anyone confused though. John just calls it disney insurance, but it's SRI and nothing to do with disney. the disney insurance you'd get in the states will be different to that! may be just as crap possibly, but it's not the same one. if you want to know what you'd be looking at in 4 months, i think it's a case of 'tough' because you need to be on the portal, I believe to see anything for it? correct me if i'm wrong, but i think if we knew what it was there'd be a thread somewhere telling you everything.

i can't afford more than 4 months worth atm, so i went with the one i had, all the small print seemed fine for what I need so i took it. i'll reexamine things in october. i gave myself leeway time of about 2 weeks anyway, because it's a full 3 months you need for disney, not actually 4 months. so i needed up to october 1 and took to october 19.

i may just extend if i can afford it by then!

Just to confirm i booked my medical insurance today with STA, using there special offer this week only..

Got it for £266.40 for the year, which is pretty awesome...

The excess is £50 and all the amounts that you get if things go wrong are really high..

Atleast four of them are £2 million and the rest are all really high as well..

They were the best price i found anyway, i looked all over and then i got another 10% off, can't go wrong really..Just thought i'd let everyone know anyway, that i've got it and to big them up abit, because they do you a great deal..

    insurance is a nightmare!
I dont know which one to get!
I have quote's from endsleigh for the summer programme.
Either £112, or £151 depending on the level of cover i wanted.
STA is either £90, or £129 although it doesnt seem as good as endsleigh.

And how do we know if the one we select is good enough?

  7. u doin the 3 month ICP programme....coz im in the same boat really....stupid insurance companies!

Danny: If you are working for HRC you will need to get health insurance for your full contract. You will not get Disney health insurance as you are not going to be working for them.

I found Disney health insurance was actually good. It didn't cost a lot each week. I had gateway for 4 months before it. It was rubbish. I had to go to the doctors as a cut on my foot got infected and it cost me like $600. I had to pay it it full and then try to claim it back. I didn't even get half of it back.

Just thought i'd revive this old thread as it seems to have the most information on the type of cover we'd need. I'm currently trawling through the backpackers insurance websites at the moment and it's looking to cost around £300 for the year with no excess, which I think I want. It's also hard getting one to cover you for the extra travel month at the end... Anyone found any good deals lately? I plan to double check my policy with yummy just to be on the safe side but I'm finding it hard to just decide on one and stick with it as they all seem to offer different plus points and negatives!
