The insurance yummy suggest to us is so cheap tho..If you don't go through yummy for the year it costs £300..

If you do go through them it costs £150! Its a tough decision!

disney don't pay the rest, you pay out of your wages, depending on the type of disney cover you want.

only problem though is that the SRI insurance is crap and doesn't cover you very well, when you take into account that you get a coinsurrance of 60:40. so if you get ill, they'll only pay out 60 percent anyway, considering medical expenses can run into the thousands...

I used endlseigh for a year before and it cost me 280. I didn't use it in the end but i didn't worry about anything with it!

Nah, thats for the Cult Rep Program that they pay for the full year!

    Ill try endsleigh..

The problem im having tho..They all cover everything really well apart from the curtailment..That needs to be $10,000(£5,000) and all of them are only offering £2,000($4,000) which is a long way off really..Im getting quotes for around £200, but without the curtailment, but then its an extra £120 atleast with that curtailment in it, i don't see why thats making it so expensive!

you might want to email any company with backpackers insurance you look at - many of the policies state in the smal print that u have to start and end in the UK with the policy - so taking a policy and ending it whilst in the usa may void it

for example - you cant actually get the ace policy unless u intend on taking it for the entire year you are there

    Ah rite, fair enough, cheers..

Do you think they'd negotiate on the curtailment thing for a bit of extra money maybe?

i have been looking at endsleigh and its quite expensive but it offers a good level of cover and covers pre-existing conditions too and it doesnt say u have to start /end in the uk that i have seen on it yet. i think its like £100+ for the 4 months tho

oh, didnt know that, i thought disney paid for the rest and ive been hearing that the disney insurance isnt that good, so maybe its better to get full cover for the year rather than just 4 months, is this what most people are doing?

disney and insurance is just a plain nightmare for me!!!

my mum and dad looked at the insurance you get off disney after the four months and they were not impressed with it! esp for the fact if you go for plan a, you don't get any money out if you die and the hosiptal fee's terrible!! also it doesn't cover u, if u go out for the day n go water surfing etc or go out of florida for a trip!! it has not baggage recover!!

i have a friend who went to florida, cut themselft on the arm and ended up in hospital with an infection and had to be flown back to the uk! without the medical insurance he would had to pay out $44,000 which is roughly £22,000 here!! thank-god for propper insurance!!

basically my advice is, look at the medical insurance and get someone who u trust to look at it too! research through other companies and see if you get a good deal! i've paid out £442 for 12 month cover and told disney to go away with them!! i feel happier and more relaxed knowing that i have a good insurance to cover my back!!

You seems to be confusing medical insurance with other types of insurance.  Money if you die, that would be life insurance.  Baggage coverage, thats travel insurance.  Medical insurance is differnt, it is ONLY health care related things.

As for the going out of florida, or water surfing... i am assuming plan a is the cheaper option.  so dont go with plan a!

Nah, she's right, it is on the travel medical insurance..I've just been looking at travel medical insurance and all the one's i've looked at cover for you if you die apart from disney's insurance! Travel medical insurance is just basically like travel insurance and medical insurance combined!

    Hope that helps.. :)

I am meaning the SRI insurance on the yummyjobs website..

You know which one i mean? I call that one the disney insurance..I know its probably slightly different, but not much, because apparently both of them only offer the minimum you need! haha..

my current plan is to get travel insurance seperately once I'm out there. considering I'd need 13 months, and not just 12, I'm going to buy once I've been out there a month or so. Just regular stuff from the UK. It'll only cost about 40 pounds for a year's travel insurance.

And I might just extend my insurance too instead of getting disney stuff. but I'll look at the disney plans first to make sure, then decide. but extending may end up being better. I just don't think I can afford the full 12 months right now anyway!

Just to let you all know..

I just got off the phone to STA travel..

And i've negotiated a price of £266.40 with them for the year..

They said they can only offer me it if i book this week tho..I think its some sort of deal there doing this week..Its usually £296, but he said he could knock 10% off for me, but only this week..

Just thought i'd let you all no, might be worthwhile getting intouch with them!

okkk, so alot of different opions there then, it all seems a bit confussing what to do. But first of all how do you get to look at the disney insurance, this plan a or b etc what people are talking about.

Im just about to do some research now. Before I found insurance for 4 months for about 60 quid on this backpackers web site, anyway speak again soon
