I have to say, i still work there, i went to disney, came back in june, tried a job in a shop, boring as hell, couldnt wait to get back to maccy d's with people my own age working there, and the buzz of a busy weekend, makes time go a hell of a lot quicker then retail in my personal opinion.

You get paid just above the minimum wage, and i think its chance of 2 pay rises a year, its really easy to climb up the career ladder then and theres always ways of progressing!

i also find it so so easy booking time off, obviously i cant speak for all mcdonalds but the one i work at, its so easy to get as much time off as i want, and the best part is, holiday pay builds up, so at the moment i have like 400£ built up since like last october, and i can ask for it whenever i want, so its like they save for you :)

    hope this kinda helps?

Just to add to the perks.. You can do different apprenticeships too obviously for free while you work & you can become a crew trainer :) when you book time off work you just do it online and as long as it isn't a popular time to have time off (e.g. Xmas & summer) then you'll get it off easy.
All this talking makes me feel better about having a job there, haha!

Haha oh yeah, forgotten about the appreticeship scheme

you can also re-do your maths and english if you failed in high school? which is really helpful for some people if you've failed

haha i feel good about working there now actually too

and of course, the crew you work with, are the best, many of my best friends now <3

:D very true about the people you work with, they're all pretty much within the same age group. And a very small minority are there because they didn't do very well in their GCSE's. Infact, I think one person I work with is that minority :) haha. I love it though because we have so many different people from different countries :) I find myself just asking them so many questions about where they're from and all that! Haha!
So anyway.. Getting to the point. Don't feel stupid about working at any fast food place :) its not as bad as you think.. AND you don't go home covered in grease. Trust me.

Along with my McD work, would travel and tourism be a bonus too? With getting the place and all that?:) x

I applied for maccies, and pizza hut and KFC. And I got interviews for all of them, but i bottled out, simply because I couldnt face working there. Might be because people where like "its the only job you will ever have" and I didnt want it to come true so I bailed on them.

I did travel and tourism =D I LOVED it so much <3 I dropped out of my second year of it though, just because I didn't like the people really. But I got into the tourism industry so I'm perfectly happy with how things worked out =D

Nah, it seriously isn't bad working for McD. Not that it matters to you now :) glad everything has worked out for you though! You work at Butlins if I remember rightly from another topic? :)
I love T&T too, in my second year now and its not like you don't learn something everyday. I especially love cruising, its SO interesting and fun! Hence why I want this disney job, so I've got some experience behind me then when I'm 21 I wanna work with Disney Cruises <3 ultimate career goal!(YN)
Can't remember if I've asked this before or not, but is this your first time applying?

    Hey guys!
Sorry to invade your thread- I haven't worked in McDonalds, but I don't see how it could be a bad thing. It is one (well, The) most successful quick service catering company! That's good experience!

Anyway, just wanted to say I did Travel and Tourism at college.. and then went on to do a combined degree with Tourism and Leisure Studies. :) Loved college- not so much the degree level lol! xxx

:) everyones good comments about this is making me feel very hopeful. On a regional newspaper (I think) apparently McD's is one the best big companies to work for, a friend told me this by the way so don't take my word for it :p
McD's + T&T = hopefully an amazingly good thing to have on my CV.. I'm just worrying all the other stuff will let me down!
SarahLiz, have you done the CRP before? (YN) haha xo

    Hey!!
I did apply in 2009 and got through to F2F interviews in October.. was kept on waitlist, but positions were up until June, and I finished Uni in July- so I was a bit eager in applying!!
So I applied again in 2010 again got through to F2F in London in October and was put on the waitlist. I endured the waitlist for 115 days before getting a phonecall about potential HRC place and to arrange phone interview. And then after 122 days on the waitlist I got a place with HRC :)

Wow that was a long way of telling you that I've just been accepted for first CRP haha xxx

My friend is going on that adult weekend, she's been having to hunt for school uniform stuff! Haha :D she went last year or whenever the last one was, she loved it.
Wow! That sounds pretty incredible :) I just wanna work on the hotel side of a cruise, probably just cleaning rooms or whatever. But you never know :) if I get this Disney opportunity I may find something else I'd rather do on a cruise. I'm not the type to get up on a stage and talk infront of hundreds of people though! xx

Caz - you dont have to be over 21 to work on the bar just over 21 to drink so if your 18 and get ito f&b you can still get into bar

its crazy rule really cos ur not allowed to even hold an alcoholic drink anywhere if ur under 21 yet you can serve them

Well I don't start with HRC until May 3rd.. So I'm not experienced in all the in's and out's. It's basically like a Merch position but with a historical slant lol. Do you know anything about it? I would say if you are at all interested in history it may be worth a look.. a lot of people don't want to do it as "you aren't directly employed by Disney", that is true- but also not lol-- meaning you are hired by an affiliate company from the UK Pavillion.
BUT I still get a Disney ID, still get to put Disney on my CV, still live in Disney housing, Disney is written on my CRB form and everything. It's just a slightly different job!!

I think you have to stick with Epcot- as I'd be a CRP for the UK it makes sense to only work in the UK Pavilion. But if I got a chance to work in Magic Kingdom or somewhere that would be cool. I think I have seen an HRC facility in MK but it was more for American history-- although I did American History at uni so it could be really interesting.

Anyway, sorry I can't fill you in more.. if you want you can add me on Facebook, and then when I'm out there I may be able to fill you in on exactly what happens. :) My name is Sarah Holden- profile pic is at Disneyland Paris xx

Ohh, I see :) I swear someone said you're not just working at Epcot. But hey, who knows! I'll just do abit of research.
History isn't like my favourite thing ever, and not working for Disney 'directly' doesn't really bother me. Like you said, you still do all the same stuff and live like everyone else!
Oh my gosh. do you realise HOW many people I just had to go through name Sarah Holden? lmao! then I saw the castle and was like "YAYYY!" xx

Another daft question.....what you you actually do when working in the HRC??
I can hardly remember what the UK Pavilion looks like since I last went (3 years ago) and I thought it was rather small but I was looking at pics online today and there is loads there and it's more spread out (my memory is shocking). Kinda wish the UK had some sort of attraction though :/ x

Haha!! I did look for Megan Lauren but there were so many I just thought I'd put mine in :)

For HRC you are working with Historical Research. It involved looking into surnames, the history and origins of them.. they do look into the meannings of first names as well. Also they research heraldry and coats of arms.. and then these can all be put onto different types of merchandise; keyrings, prints, engraving etc.

I know what you mean about UK not having an attraction.. even if it was just a film or 360 circlevision, which showed Scotland, Ireland, Wales and England that would be cool. But I can see why they haven't as Canada and France are either side and have them. So it would make walking round a bit less entertaining! What else could they have??
OMG- they could have an enchanted merry go round- like out of Mary Poppins! :D xx

OMG the merry go round thing sounds cooooool :)
I think the 360 thing would be good for the UK Pavilion because a lot of people just think that the UK is England and thats it......they dont really know much about Scotland, Ireland or WALES!!!!! (sorry I'm a welshie) :)
The Historical Centre sounds quite interesting, I think we went in there but only had a brief look around and then left :/
Have you done the CRP before SarahLiz?? xx
