it looks fine to me. i am going through ucas for the second time and i hate it more this time around. i'm just finishing up my first degree and want to do medicine, but its soooo hard to stay positive. i have the grades and everything and still no interviews or anything. its driving me slightly insane!!! and i have another entrance exam result tomorrow that i reckon i failed but hey ho roll on tomorrow when i can get medicine out of my head and concentrate on Disney!!!! (i'm gonna hopefully reapply for 2008!!) so i know how you guys feel.

    A xx

    I applied for Law at:

Oxford (withdrew application - went to the interview and hated it!!!)
LSE - still waiting to hear back
    King's College London - Rejected :'(
    Warwick - Rejected :'(
    Sussex - offer
    Reading - offer

So I don't really want to go to Reading or Sussex, so I think I'm going to reapply for 2008 entry. I really want to go to LSE though! If I reapply, I'd apply for Social Anthropology rather than Law, and then do a Law conversion course after my degree.

Poll looks good, not sure if you can change it and it doesn't matter really, but "tona roma's" should be "tony roma's" but everyone will know what is it I'm sure! ;D

You're all still so lucky to be at the choosing stage! I'm just finishing my degree and there's moments I wish I could go back and choose again. :)

Yeah I was a little bit upset as I worked so hard for my exams and in the end didn't get in to the places I wanted, even though I have the grades. I got 8A* and 2A at GCSE and am predicted AAAA at A-Level (which I'm going to have to work SO hard to get :-\ I hate A-Levels!).

Ah well, I think the whole UCAS thing is a bit of a lottery really. Hopefully I'll have more luck next year! :)

you know what i think the whole process is rediculous. no matter how "smart" you are it doesnt make you good at things. three C's is a great achievement! i hate the whole you have to get straight A's thing, i got good grades while at school etc and all i want to do with my life is be a doctor yet here i am not at med school twiddelling my thumbs when there are people there who are doing it because there parents want them too!!! as you can probably tell it really bugs me.

where i worked over the summer i had the unfortunate pleasure of meeting the new house officers, and my goodness were the most heinous people I have ever met. they looked down their noses at me to the point where they were like "so what do you want to do in the future? I can't say that lifeguarding is a fulfilling contribution to the community." i was like WHAT THE HELL!!!! its a summer job caus i am at uni, i am the MANAGER of said pool and I am applying to medicine this sept. The looks on their faces, made me so angry, to assume that they are gods gift to the world!!!

sorry guys just had to vent a lil there!! oops :-[

    ^ Couldn't agree more!!

I really wanted to go and do law but because of poor subject choices at school I didn't do well enough to apply. I always wondered if I'd chosen different things that I'd maybe be on a different path now...

Oh well. Tis all over and done with now. And although I gripe and moan I'm so glad I'll have a degree....ANY degree lol.

i can't believe that they expect 16 year olds to know what they want to do with their lives!! its insane. you should be able to do any degree no matter what a levels you did as long as you did ok in them. that is all that should matter. the first year is always a synoptic for everyone to be at the same level anyway!!!! it should be about your love for the job you want to do not what exam grades you have!!! we should just right a short essay on why we want to do that degree and they go from that not all this UCAS rubbish!!

I totally agree, people shouldn't be stopped from doing what they want to do just because of grades. I also hate people who say A-Levels are easy, because they aren't!! They are hard work and so stressful and admissions people should realise that.

Bambi mad, what degree did you do? And you couldn't be more right, three C's is a fab achievement, lora you should be proud of that!!

Those house officers sound SO rude, you'll show them when you get your place at med school! :)

i'm just finishing off a degree in medical biology!! i am in no way stupid, i couldn't believe they said that to me, i was in shock for a full five minutes until i laid into them and put them in their proper place!! under me!! hahahaha ;)

i just said that they had the wrong attitude to work with patients and that I would hear all about them within a couple of hours as i knew all the consultants in the hospital etc and they were not a good role model for future doctors.

it was funny caus the next day they came and found me at the pool and apologised profusely!! turns out the consultants were not impressed with the way they spoke to me and grilled them!! hehehe i love being so well connected there!! it will be interesting to go back this summer and see what they are like after a few months......

Good for you! You can't let them get away with speaking to you like that! Hopefully they won't think they can get away with speaking to people like that anymore!

Where did you do your medical biology degree? I'm doing biology A-Level at the mo. :)

i'm at brunel university west london. its alright, it has its ups and downs like most places..... although right now i am looking forward to going home, uni is driving me past the point of insaneness!!!!

Rose, i'm sure you will do really well with your A levels, the best thing to do is not to worry about them, what will be will be as they say. i managed to get good a levels with no revision, i hate revising, such a waste of time.

yep i finish in 6 no 5 weeks now, roll on roll on.

i should have done better than i did, but i was too lazy and not pushed enough to actually fulfill my potential, looking back now it was a huge mistake. but you live and learn and i'm starting to get out of that zone now of relying on my natural abilities caus they don't cut it anymore.

what other a levels are you doing?

well results are out!!!!i couldnt resist the temptation to see what i got. suffice to say that i passed each section within the given minimum marks but my overall score isnt good enough to get an interview.... so my med school dream has ended today. :'(

it was quite sad i rang my mum and cried down the phone.....i am so utterly dissappointed with myself.

Mind you the little ray of sunshine i am holding on to is that if you fail one of the sections then no matter how high your overall score is you still won't get an interview....so i am so happy i passed all the sections. i have seen some peoples scores with overalls in the 70's but they would fail one section by one mark!!! so no interview for them.

    it is a sucky system!!!!

i need to go cry again......
