Good question Izzy - will think you better look into that one :-\

Izzy - I haven't heard anything about our flight yet, have you?? If we do get in late, they are just going to have to wait for us and we will just have to keep our fingers crossed about the rooms ;)

That is something I thought of last night, and I was like.... yikes!!! Being my usual disorganised self, I totally forgot about that! I have no idea what to do...I have paid for my holiday out there, yet the US Embassy want my passport for a week...GRR!!!! Do you know how/if I can bypass this? Is there any way I can get my passport back that day? If not, is there any way I can get into France without a passport? If I explain the circumstances would they be able to write a letter vouching that I am a legitimate British citizen and have my return flight etc? I just dunno, what a nightmare...I was so looking forward to going to France yet this looks like a distant possibility at the moment :'(

If anyone has any info/help for me I'd REALLY appreciate it! I am desperate to go on this holiday!!! Cheers, Will

When I went for my visa interview I got my passport back the next day and they had told me it would be mid the next week (my interview was on last Thursday and I got it back on the Friday - which means they obviously processed it and put it in the mail on the very same day I went there, so it is possible for them to do it in a day) - but I am in Australia so I may have just been lucky, however they reserve the right to decide whether to issue you with a visa - so I am unsure if they would agree to have it done within a day...

I thought that most countries in the EU had national identity cards that you could travel with within the EU - but obviously not.

I don't think there is any way that you could talk your way into a country without a passport, I think they'd send you straight back (In Australia definitely!!) obviously your best bet is to try and talk to the people at the consulate and ask if there is any way at all that they could do it that day, perhaps say there is an emergency in France or something (not ethical to lie though so may not be advisable) but may speed up the process..

Sorry that's not much help, could you delay your trip by a few days and just hope that the passport comes back quickly? Or perhaps just ring the Consulate (at a million dollars a minute) and tell them and ask if there is anything they can do.

    Goodluck!

Hey, thanks for that reply...I phoned up the UK Passport Authority, and after being on hold for about 15 minutes at 2am, a pretty useless woman answered and said there was nothing I could do except change my appointment or cancel holiday. So what I am going to do now is try to reschedule appointment for Thursday 25th November...cutting it fine I know! If I can do that then I will change my return flight home from France for a week early, and then MegaBus it from London to Glasgow (yikes!). If I have my appt on 25th November I should get my passport back in time right? Hmmm, is that such a good idea?

    Hey everyone,
My names Julia (jules), and I thought I'd just quickly introduce myself, even though I've already met a few of you on the posts (hey mandy, chase, jay, emma, helen). I'm 19 years, Australian and will be arriving in Orlando on Nov 26th for the WDWIP but I'm only working at Disney for two months (uni break) as a lifeguard. I'm so excited about my trip but can't get over how quickly time is flying. I leave in a week and I still have a million and one things to do beforehand. Also just wondering... we (best friend Nadia and I) arrive on nov 26, but only start work on the 30th, so what will be doing for first 4 days. Hopefully we'll just have those 4 days to settle in and explore DIsney - can't wait to try all the rides. Anywho, I've been reading the numerous posts and everyone seems lovely. Can't wait to meet you!

Will If I were you I would ring Yummy jobs and ask for their advice ;)

I went to get my visa on a friday and it came back to me on a tuesday but it may take longer to get to you as you live in Scotland so you might be cutting it too fine as there will be about a week for international departures to book your and maybe everyone elses flight as I don't think they book our flights till everyone in the group has got their visa ???

@Helen - Ive not heard anything about the flight yet either. Hopefully we will hear soon. Are you coming down the night before and staying at the airport or are you driving down that morning?

@ Jules - I think your first few says will be pretty similar to those of us who are on the year programme. You will need to do the Traditions course, get your uniform, get your social security number and go to Walmart

Hey Izzy I'm not sure on staying over in manchester yet, mam and dad are drivin me down and they mentioned staying over but I don't know if I just want to stay at home for 1 last night lol, well it all depends what time the flight time is coz we are approx 1.5 / 2 hours drive from manchester.

@Will you will have to let us know when you sort things out, coz I think Izzys right we prob wont find out our flight details till everyone from the u.k has sorted their visa out. :-\ :-\
anyway good luck with sorting stuff out.

Davina - thanks for finding out for us! I had a feeling that they would wait for us all to get our Visa's before booking the flights as they probably get a better rate that way.Hopefully we will leave on the 6th!Weve been waiting too long already ;)

Its crazy that (hopefully) me and Helen will probably be at Atlanta airport this time in 3 weeks!

hehe dont worry guys I have decided to ditch the holiday to France...there's nothing else I can do really...I wouldnt risk cutting it that fine to get my passport back, and possibly delay not just my, but EVERYONE'S, flight over to the USA. No way would I do that! So, I am still going to London on Thursday, with my interview on Friday morning. I'll go to the Ryanair desk when I fly into Stansted with a last ditch attempt to use my flight over to France, but I cant see it happening without my passport. Frustrating, but I'll live and learn! 3 weeks and we'll be in the Sunshine State...bring it on!!!! ;D

    @Will
I only had my interview 14 days before I was due to leave... and they said it should be fine, as it comes back within five days...
So ten days would probably be enough... if you still want to go to France (I know you probably don't want to cut it close - but there is always the option)
Otherwise Goodluck getting out of your country!!! - when I flew into Paris with Ryanair from Dublin, I was checked for my passport - had to be stamped in...
If you were already on the actual continent and going by train then you could be ok (as there were several times when I wasn't checked travelling between countries), but it is the plane thing that is the problem.. although I expect it would be the same on is it the "Eurostar"?
I still think ask the US Consulate when you get there that day, you never know you may get someone nice... (you may not too!) who will see what they can do.. It's worth a shot, nothing to lose really.
