.i cant hear there accent lol....im tring to think what they sound like.....all that pops in my head is danish bacon song..so sorry :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[............. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
@Celephais: Yes, I know that they are closely related languages (I study English and I had to learn all that linguistic stuff, since English is also a Germanic language...) so that´s great, hopefully not too difficult to learn, but I´ve got a whole year to practise! Ok, you´ll teach me! I´ll come back to that! @MyLittlePony: Do you understand people from Sweden? Is the pronunciation different if the words aren´t?
i know, danish is impossible to understand in fact, our first king after the secession from sweden was danish and he and our king today had to speak english with eachother, it's THAT hard to understand, but if you compare both written lanuages their pretty much the same
Anika - yeah I understand both Swedish and Danish, they are very similar. But for Danish I really have to concentrate and say "Huh" (or "Hæ", as its pronounced in Norway...) five hundred times...
swedes have a bunch of different words, but we who live in the east know most of them since most of us have been to sweden like a hundred times but for those who learn one of the languages, it's pretty hard to understand the two others, like my father he can speak Norwegian, but has no clue when it comes to swedish or danish, the only swedish word he knows is "heidå", meaning hello
It´s a shame there isn´t a Danish pavillon as well, I´d really like to hear Danish people talk and compare it to you guys. But languages are always an interesting and funny topic. My old Spanish teacher made us listen to Basque speakers once...doesn´t sound like Spanish and definitely not like French...rather Russian or s.th. Until today nobody really knows where this language comes from. ;D Do you learn other Scandinavian languages at school or how come you´re such 'experts'?
"Hej då" means "goodbye", Celephais... And I'm 1/8 Swedish... (Yes... I have an annoying habit of correcting people. Please ask me to stop it if you meet me at the Commons...)
oh oops, guess my swedish isn't all that great after all and, anika, the original idea for the norwegian pavilion was a scandinavian pavilion, just to bad it never happened no, we don't learn other scandinavian languages in school, but we have swedish and danish TV channels, that's where we learn some of it, or as I said earlier, we've been there like a billion times
anika.really .....lol....i want to also......except i wanna teach kindergarden............. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D..get all art and crafty with the kiddies
Yeah, probably it´s the TV programs...We have French channels (and maybe CNN) and even a Turkish one, never picked up Turkish though... ;D
I´ll teach 5th to 13th grade...pretty tough: I had to teach Macbeth to 18-year-olds...a few weeks ago; the boys were all taller than me. ;D

Hehe; are they so pretty? Good for us, let´s get the cute guys in Orlando... ;D @Nat:Tough age, but the 14-year-old boys are even worse! ;D

Wow Anika, I applaud you! I can't stand 18-year-old boys sometimes. My sisters bfs are usually that age and it can be VERY tiresome with their attitude at times. I just STEAR CLEAR whenever they are over. (Although once I had to turn on "We're Not Gonna Take It" to chase a boy out of the house. Really LOUD!) My point being, they are very strong-willed!
