I seriously can't stop thinking about it. I have been called for an interview at a Disney store shop before but never got the job so I'm worried i'm not Disney material. :S

Its almost April ;D ;D ;D June is just round the corner!

Hello to everyone I've yet to say hello to :)

How are we all today? I finally watched UP the other day. What a sad, but great funny movie. I really enjoyed it. Anyone else seen they've got a BOGOF deal on Disney dvd's at the moment, might add a couple more to my collection ;)

roxysurfroxy - I got turned down from the Disney store too, and that was after I'd spent a summer working in Orlando for them :( Kinda sucked, as did getting turned down for CRP but dont worry about it. All you can do is try your best and think positively - I'm sure your awesome and would be great working for Disney :D

im also thinking of applying in June however i have a few questions about the application and selection process...CAN ANYONE HELP?!?!

firstly what are they looking for i have read about the disney look etc but in terms of personality i would assume they want approachable happy outgoing people...(which i hope i am!) but in terms of experience and education there doesnt seem to be much info?!?!

i have worked in food service for approx 6years but i wanted to avoid this type of placement if possible!

i have also worked for an international bank for 2years now and hope that my customer service skills are appropriate for the kind of work im hoping to be accepted for... :)

id also like to know how long the whole process takes from first application to getting a start date...i tend to be very impatient when it comes to things like this!

    I REALLY HOPE IM ACCEPTED...

oh one more thing i have a med sized tattoo on my right wrist...is this a problem? ive heard it would need to be covered up but will i be refused because of it?!?!

    Hola!

Yeah, they're really not that specific when it comes to what Work Experience/Education etc. one should have. They don't specify how many years experience they need, people have been accepted with little work experience, whilst others have years behind them. This can be really annoying as you have no idea whether you have what it takes or not, it's so hard to judge what your chances are!

I was recently accepted and I have around 5 years experience in Food Service and 6 months in Merchandise, but like I said it varies so much and they are many more factors involved - more than most other types of jobs.

With the CRP there are only 3 types of work available; Food, Merchandise or Historical Research Centre, all of which require excellent customer service skills. They do tend to put you were you have the most experience though, as everything about working there is condensed. You get thrown in at the deep end and need to grasp things pretty quickly, so the more experience you have in that type of job -the better!

The time line from the previous round was 2 months. I sent my application on 1st Jan and got the results of the final interview on Feb 28th. I think this process has been speeded up by Yummy Jobs recently, they are now dealing with more programs as before the process was a little longer at around 3 months. My start date was 6 months after I got my interview result, so the whole final process for me from start to start date will be 9 months.

It could be a problem, depending on what the actual tattoo is. They ask you if you have any tattoos at both the phone and face to face interview, and if you do it's put on your notes. Normally, if accepted, they will make you wear a long sleeved top, so it's never on show. It's really up to Disney though, if they don't think that it fits in with the Disney look then there's not much you can do about it! ;D

I hope some of this helps and sorry for the uber long reply! ;D

You're normally required to cover it up with special make-up, so with the tattoo being on your wrist, you'll probably be told that you won't be able to work in food and beverage because you'll have to constantly be washing your hands so it may wash the make up off. You could still get roles in Merchandise or in the HRC.

I was kinda hoping it was more down to the shifts I was available to work or something... I'm kinda like a big kid when it comes to Disney - that can only be a good thing right!?

I don't know what i'm more excited about, getting final year Uni exams out the way (May) or June!!

Everytime I go to Epcot I'm always super jealous of the UK staff - Disney World is my second home *sigh*

Me to :D I'd seriously work at WDW as a signpost if they'd let me :D

The disney store I applied to was out of the city centre and they wanted me for early morning shifts, which I would have been happy to do, but I'm pretty sure they turned me down because I couldnt drive so couldnt get out there very easily :-\ The one in town never seems to have any jobs though.

Good luck with your exams! Its a great feeling to put your pen down after the last one and know that its all over and done with :)

Haha - Yeah, I'd pretty much do anything for/at Disney too.

Thanks - Roll on May 25th!! :D - Last exam date!!

I'm wondering whether writing that I'm a part time duty manager for an international retailer would make me seem like I wanna boss people around and should stick to "shop assistant!?"
