Got my money changed up today. £607 got me $960. Shows how naff the exchange rate is ATM.

Had to declare my beloved Car sworn today meaning no more driving now either.

Just got Insurance and couple of bits for the suitcase to get now

Can't you use a credit card/debit card (VISA/Mastercard) temporarily, and then convert your monies into dollah once the rate is better?

I don't see the exchange rate changing hardly in the next 2 weeks. It's MORE than enough money for the 1st 2 weeks and i wanted to get it done now so i don't need to mess around a day or 2 before leaving

It's what I plan to do anyway. I'm bringing some savings and it's a little risky to convert it all at once I think. It's pretty unstable so I'll wait it out for a few weeks at least. I'm not even sure I need all of it anyway.

Now the last party is done here back home! Only one more to go in Oslo, and then I've said my goodbyes... Mixed feelings for sure, I'm so freaking excited over going, but I know I'm going to miss the whole bunch back here! =) 16 days...

Hey :) what's your name? I'm f&b but not til September. There's a fair few joining you. There's a packing checklist on the non-forum bit of this site if that's any help.

    Alright everyone,

I'm back from my summer holidays! And went and sorted my visa on friday! They said it would arrive this week..

Only problem I had was that I tried to use the spare visa photo's I had from last time, which still look completely like me..But they rumbled me and I had to go and get some new one's! Other than that it wasn't bad at all..Waited an hour n a half..The longest I've waited in the embassy before is over 3 hours..So it was nothing compared to that!

13 days for me! Guessin everybody's excited?

i used a picture i had left from 1 1/2 years ago and they didnt complain. Sorry for your luck :p
did you tell them that it was an old pic? cause you said it still looks like you so how did they notice?

when i had my appointment they made a lot of people go take new pictures too.

I told them I got it done a few months ago..Stupid idea though, as I never thought to think that they would have my photo on the system from last time I got my visa! Oh well, its done now anyway, time went pretty fast as well too be honest, as it was 8am in the morning and I was pretty half asleep!

aww..that sucks that they had the picture on their computer.

i had my appointent at 7.30am.
luckily i live in frankfurt and thats were the embassy is at so i only had to drive like 30 mins to get there.

i got there around 7 and was done at 9.
i had a bunch of stewards sitting next to me and we were chatting the entire time so time went pretty fast for me as well.

i think the last time i was at the embassy i waitet for almost 4 hours.

ANYWAY - cant wait to hold the visa in my hands!
i think i got everything sorted out..insurance, flight, visa etc..

oh wait, still gotta pay the housing fee to get my room cleaned,.ugh..
id rather clean myself to save the money ;D

    Congrats on getting in!

I'm Canadian too, starting on July 14th as well. I'm not on this forum too much but am starting to check in a bit more now that it's closer (I've been waiting 6 months to start).

Anyways, I'm already here in Orlando staying with family so if you have any questions about border crossing etc. let me know. I might be able to help.

See you all on the 14th. Be prepared - it's REALLY REALLY HOT!!!! Fun times ahead though...yay us!

it's sooo close!!! i was just wondering has anyone done anything with the forms yummy sent us about claiming tax back? mine is still sat in the envelope, i don't know if i should just sign them and send them off nor not.

Thats for the end of the program I think..

There's a thread on here about tax back as well..You can use turbotax for free, the one yummy uses was about $70 last time I was guna do mine..Think its actually just a percentage of how much u've earned tho..Some people find it easier to use yummy's and just pay the money..But I'd rather save the money and do it myself, as I think its fairly easy really...

Its weird, its gettin really close, but I don't actually feel like its kicked in yet..This time in 2 weeks we'll probably be on our day off! haha.. ;D
