Loving this forum, be nice to chat to people in the same position, and if we are lucky, meet ppl on here who may be goingbat same time :)

Hello again forum! Long time no see xD

Ahhh I'm applying again this january. Second time lucky eh? Im 18 currently, and I've been working in butlins since feb this year. I'm hopefully moving to belgium at some point this or next year as well so theres a bit more practice to living away from home for myself XD But yea, originally from Walsall (near birmingham), now in bognor, next to brussels, then hopefully to florida. If all goes according to plan xD

Im applying again in Jan and I will prob be the oldest at 30 lol but age really is just annumber out there the only thing is if your under 21 you have to be careful with drinking but pretty much you get everyone 18 to around 33/34 - some are even older.

When I went out first time I was 27/28 :) thought I was gonna be the oldest and worried big time about it like would I fit in with all the younger people etc but to be honest everyone just gets on with it no matter about the age :) had a fab time hence the reapplying :D - Oh and the oldest when I started was 32

I'd heard about the underage drinking thing so i'll definitely have to be careful if by any chance I did manage to get onto the program!
So you're applying again, that's so cool you must have really enjoyed it? :D I have a few questions for you if you wouldnt mind helping me out a bit :) I currently have no work experience apart from volunteering, is experience in an actual job important? Also, what sort of thing do I need to put in my cover letter and do you have any tips? :D I've never been the best at writing things so I'm going to make sure to put a lot of time and effort into it.

Any experience where you are working with people is helpful - if you can get some customer service thats even better but they do take people with no work experience occasionally. I would advise you to see if you can do voluntry work in a charity shop or something so you have proven cash handling and customer service and communication skills which are important for fb and merch

YJ has some advice on cover letters so i would follow that but generally you need to say why you want the job, what you can gain from it and what you can bring to it with some examples. Letter should be 1- 11/2 A4 pages max. People have got through with professional letters and they have got through with more fun letters with some disney characters and stuff on it. If you have been to disney then include something about it in your letter let them know you have seen the level of service expected etc...

I did enjoy it - was a fab experience - im applying to go back because I can if that make sense? Im single, i dont have kids and i have no ties lol and I'm not ready to get a mortgage and a proper job yet.

Thanks so much for the help :D I'm going to try and get a part-time job ASAP, I'm still at sixth form until may sort of time though so the hours don't always suit me. A christmas temp job would be perfect. Thanks for the tips on the cover letter too, i'll check out the YJ website as well :)

The part i'm most worried about is the phone interview. Assuming i'll even get that far! Terrified of not saying the right thing because you're being judged on just that short phonecall. Thanks again for the help Ellie :) xx

The phone interview feels scarier than it is - they basically chat to you for between 10-30 mins just to get a feel for you - the questions are usually things like tell me something about where you live, how will you cope with living with other people and examples of customer service - pretty much what you would expect. YJ put you at ease and know you will be nervous

Hello! Ah, go Bristol! hahah How close are you? I'm from Cheddar, but no one ever seems to know where that is, so I normally say Bristol instead!
