January 2012 Applicants!

Wow am I late to the game!

I'm Anna, 20 from the South West. I found out about the program about 2 weeks ago, and it's suddenly altered my whole life plan! I'm graduating this year, so after working as a fairy in the summer I need something to look forward to!

It all seems a bit scary at the moment.....

 

I met my boyfriend on the ICP 2010, hes american and lives in florida so we have been doing 'long-distance' for a year and a half now itll be 2 years before I could possibly (fingers crossed) be going out there!! It is honestly the easiest relationship ive ever had and we manage to see each other every few months the time in between really does go very fast and im sure disney would make it go even faster because its so exciting there!!! Obviously you will miss them but it CAN work ... I have proof hope that makes you both (nitch and EmmaB) feel a little better!!

Thank you so much for telling me this haha that has made me feel a whole lot better about things i think that was like the only thing i was worried about but obviously i didnt really want it to stop me from going because i know that if i didnt go for it, i would just regret it so much! whats a year anyway? like you say, am sure it will fly by! haha

 

That's awesome ChantelleKitchen. Thanks for letting us know how easy it has been on you! I was thinking if I were to get in then I could shuttle her out for a couple of weeks at some point and stay on site somewhere with her. Since the ICP '10 we've become a right Disney couple, I'm so gutted she doesn't want to apply but it had such a huge impression on me when I worked there that I kinda know where my future lies now! Never in a million years did I think I'd be drawn to something so strongly but we'll see once the applications open whether I go for it. It'd be perfect timing too with finishing uni in May / June this year and graduating, work for a bit to make some monies to pay for flights etc and then make some monies out there.

One thing I would say is when you're out there take advantage of all the networking opportunities that are available. I didn't do any and really regret it!

 

That's such good news!
I did my ICP whilst my boyfriend was still back in the U.K (so just 3 months and he came out to visit for 2 weeks), and then I went straight to Amsterdam for a year for my year abroad for uni.. we managed well, but obviously in Amsterdam it's so much closer (and cheaper!) so we managed to see each other every month or two, and now we're living together!
But now I can't imagine going from living together to being almost on the other side of the world for a whole year!
He's actually applying too, because he's always wanted to work for Disney.. but he's also applying for big graduate well paid important jobs. So if he gets offered one of those he'll take it over Disney.. But then hopefully if he's earning a lot he'll be able to afford to come out a few times
Chantelle how have you afforded all the flights etc? Do you have to save up all your money for them?!
So nice to hear such a long distance success story though!

Oh and PS. Thank GOD for Skype. It literally is what has kept our relationship so strong. It meant when I was away we could still virtually see each other every day. So make sure you all have Skype!

 

Ha skype has helped massively!!!! Yeah i save up all my money for flights ... i get a scholarship at uni each year which has also helped ALSO frequent flyer miles are good!! I am glad to know there are other people in my situation although its in reverse!! Im really excited to start this application process HOPEFULLY ill be meeting you all sooon!!! x

 

Application went off last night! Majorly scary times!

 

I just applied! I'm actually quite liking the idea they opened it earlier... It makes the wait seem less haha!

 

I applied a few weeks ago and got an answer last week. They said they were getting back to me in early January. Can't wait!

The UK ones opened Tuesday, but I think the Canadian ones have been open since about July or so ???

Just a quick question for anyone who may have an idea...

I forgot to put something in my yummy profile before I sent my application to Disney. I've since put it in but will Disney see this or will they only see what was in my profile at the time of application? I'm worried now lol

They're always so nice they'll probably reply really quick and let you know!

It's so exciting at the same time though isn't it!

From what I have heard, when Yummy look through the applications to decide who gets a phone interview, they only see the version of your profile as it was on the application closing date, so you can change it right up until then... But as Harriet said, it's worth emailing them just to check, they wont mind!

 

Yeah, definitely majorly exciting too. I'm trying not to think too much about it now though otherwise this next month or so is going to be torture! lol.

They don't check the applications until after the closing date - you can edit it as much as you want after you've applied. They'll only see what's there after the applications have closed.

Also, as far as I'm aware, Disney see nothing until you make it through to the F2F - it's all Yummy Jobs until then!

Yeah, that's what I meant Yummy Jobs. Just wanted to make sure that they would get all my information but happy that I can stop worrying now lol
