Right, I've booked the silver policy on direct-travel.co.uk £165 for a year and it covers up to £5 million medical expenses.
a few of them'll only do it for a year, but i guess after that we can just get normal travel insurance for the month?
i was just gonna do it for 4 months but i figured i might as well pay for a year so i don't have anything else to worry about, i'm thinking the insurance what they try and sell us might be bloody expensive too. Loads of companies do just a month or for however many months you need. just search for working abroad insurance, or backpackers.
Not a bad price. I think i'll go and buy for the full year too so that i don't have even more money taken from my wages if using the Disney insurance.
insurance deductions are about $6 dollars weekly. im getting insurance for a complete year then i dont have to worry about it anymore
The information on this thread is brilliant, you guys have really really helped me get my head around this. I done a quote today from the Severn Corners Insurance and the prices were as follows : PLAN 1 (Whatever that means) $779.76 = £505.81 PLAN 2 ( " " " " ) $974.70 = £632.27 Now reading that you guys have grabbed insurance for so much less than that you have made my day.....thought the bank manager was going to stangle me! lol
The excess on the disney insurance was really bad from what I remember.. I got mine from STA Travel, Although checking on moneysupermarket might be a good idea..
this whole insurance thing is really confusing but this thread is definitely helping break it down a bit more now to get the money to actually afford to get it...
I contacted direct-travel.co.uk today and for the Platinum Policy for 12 months is £227.61, they insure you as a manual worker, and the medical insurance is £5 million, which I thought was a great deal then nothing more will come out of the wages when I am over there. .......exciting stuff lol.
When booking insurance, make sure you check the excess..Because it doesn't really matter how the maximum, if the excess (how much you have to pay) is too high, its not really worth it.. For instance, when I was there, my excess was low, it was £50, but still, I went to the doctors and it cost me $140, which at the time was about £70, so it wasn't worth claiming..
I still have no idea what to do about this.. I need something that will cover the cost my asthma. Which, of course is a pre-existing condition. I mean it hasn't taken me to the hospital in years, but I need to err on the side of caution. I also would like something that will help with the cost of prescriptions as I will need to get new asthma stuff every month. I would rather pay a higher up front fee with a low (or non-existent) deductible. Everything is just so confusing to me!
I went into my STA Travel shop today and they told me not to buy their insurance. apparently they will cover you for the year but it excludes any incidents while working ??? They even called head office who confirmed it, so i'm well confused
I have an athritus condition and have to get a blood test once a month is it best to go and see my own own doctor first im so unsure what to do about my insurance?
If it's something that you'll need to do while in Florida maybe call Yummy Jobs to ask how it will affect insurance and ask them to direct you into the right direction. I'm very fortunate in that i don't need any medical requirements but getting insurance for a good price is bloody hard
