I don't mean to sound harsh or anything..and i hope this doesn't affend anyone..

But basically just don't go looking like a terrorist and don't go scruffy..

Just look tidy..They wouldn't want to think there allowing some scruff bag into the country.

Hehe, ok, that's good... don't think I brought any trousers that aren't jeans home with me (all one or two pairs that I own :p) so guess just a smartish/nice top with them should be alright?

Hmm, better find some shoes that aren't my holey trainers too... Bugger :p

To be honest, i went in jeans and a tshirt..

As long as you don't look like a thug, or a "terrorist" (whatever they may look like ;)) then you should be fine..

you can wear anything you like to the embassy,i just went in jeans and a hoody, they dont care, its not like a formal sit down interview, dont worry about it. You can book the visa app for anytime (as long as you have recieved the info from yummy i think) i leave on the 24th and i got my stuff in mid-feb,phoned up to book it and i could have gone for it within a week but because of work i booked it for the end of march!

When i went i waited outside for an hour, then i waited inside for 3 hrs, for a 2 minute interview in which he asked me where i was working, and tok my fingerprint. I was allowed to take a book though

Yea there were alot of people in shorts, t shirts and flip flops when i went to the embassy! most of the people there just before the summer are students anyway.

Thei nterview isn't really an interview, as 2005CP said they just ask you 2 or 3 questions at a little booth thing while they sort out your documents.

i went there last april and was bored out of my mind. i advise you to book your interview as late in the day as poss. everyone that did this waited like an hour becuase the staff want to go home at 5pm! i had my appointment in the morning when they are in no rush and i waited about 4 hours. i had my mobile in there no one said anything an i was texting away. people were even talkin on the fone. there wer screaming kids everywhere an it was way too hot! not a nice experience but iv learned from my mistakes! also the 'interview' lasts around 30 seconds and they are very particular bout the pport pics. bunac said mine were fine but i ended up being sent out with a map to get new ones and my visa looked like i was an escaped convict cus i had to run to find this place an get back in 15 mins cus the girl was goin on her lunch break!

there is a chemist aroundthe corner from the embassy, and too my knowledge, they are one of the few places that actually do the right photos-when i went for the interview at Disneys London office, i went to that place on my way back to Euston and got the pics, so that i didnt have to do it when i go to the embassy

    There quite abit bigger..

I went to a photographers and they actually had to manually do them with a skalpal (not sure how 2 spell it ???) blade!

It was quite a professional establishment as well..i was quite suprised..

    Re: london embassy

shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit, didn't realise that... so I have... like a week to get that sorted :| glad I asked now!! So is there any other options other than going to a professional photographer, because I really can't afford that, and probably won't be able to get someone to do it in time?!

edit- never mind, found somewhere in camden that'll do it! Good thing I was planning on going there on Tuesday anyway! But £14.99 for 4?!?! Anyone know anywhere cheaper... Jeeeeeeeeez this thing is expensive. Not only is it $135 to get the visa in the first place, but they have to be all fussy about photos too. Gits, complete and utter gits :p...

    Re: london embassy

Oh OK, sorry didn't see that post! Thanks a lot for the link, definitely will be doing that rather than going to Kodak then!

Edit- just seen there's one in Oxford if I don't get a chance to go to one of the ones in London on Thurs (I'm too paranoid to leave it until my actual appointment day...)... AND it's called squib photography :D I'm tempted to try and get all the way to the other side of the city just for that :D

Yeah, is a good idea that..I might also use that method! haha..

Remember you've gotta have a plain white backdrop though haven't you? I no it sounds petty..But thats what the american government is like!
