I know it was awhile ago but what short of general questions did you get asked? I'm trying to put together some general points and answers before i call Alexis back tomorrow incase she wants to do the interview right then and there.

u'll never guess...i did it again :-[

After carrying my mobile around with me all day, i put it in my bag to get on the bus back to uni and what do i discover when i get back to halls - i have one missed call. Think i'm going to have to stop putting it on silent.

Also discovered a vioce mail from Alexis so i'm going to call tomorrow when i have some free time. Think if she has time she might just interview me then, maybe. That in mind i'm going to preper some answers tonight.

Dont worry Stu, Im in the same position as you. Everyone else seems to have had an email or phone call from yummy a few days after they applied. I applied weeks ago and just got an email saying:
'we will review your application and contact you in 8 -10 weeks'

I'm worried im not even going to get the phone interview

 

Hi Guys!

My name is Alister - just stumbled across this place while doing some research about the International College Program. I found out about it through uni careers centre and sent of my application, did a phone interview and have been asked to go to a presentation and face to face interview in November up in Aberdeen (I live in Edinburgh). Its all quite exciting really! Don't hold out too much hope about getting through as I figure it's probably pretty popular but worth a try.

Good luck to everyone who has applied - hopefully meet some of you (from north of the border) up in Aberdeen.

I've applied for the college programme as well and I'm also going up to Aberdeen in November for the presentation/interview! Which uni are you at? I live in Edinburgh too (well during the week anyway) and I'm at the Queen Margaret.

What did you get asked? I'm going to call on Monday morning and am so nervous, cant imagine what i'd be like at a face to face (if i get thru). Trying to think of things that i might get asked so that i dont go completely blank on the phone.

It's really ok the phone interview, quite informal.  It was alexis that phoned me.  She just chatted a bit at the beginning and then told me a bit about the programme. She asked what sort of job I would want eg. merchandise or food and beverage etc so i'd have a wee think bout that!  Then she just asked stuff like why i want to do it and how i thought i would cope in situations like the heat and living with other people.  Wasn't on the phone for very long really!

Just remember to sound cheery, chatty and enthusiastic!   I think thats what they are looking for at this stage!

Hi I'm new to this website! There's going to be a presentation and interviews at my university in aberdeen in october but that must be different to what you're going to Fiona and Alister in november?  ??? Anyway good luck everyone!

Yeah like Fiona said the phone interview isn't too bad at all - def no need to stress about it. Its just the kind of questions you expect "Why do you want to do the International College Program?", "Which role do you think you would most enjoy?", "How would you handle a certain situation?" but it's just common sense type answers they are looking for e.g. don't say you would shout at people in a queue.

I'm at Heriot Watt Fiona, living in town near Fountain Park (you know the cinema and that).

The presentation we're going to is at RGU dopeydons....can't wait to get up and visit the cupboard that RGU call their union Definately think we should all make a night of it afterwards!

Have finally got a phone interview arranged - 14.15 tomorrow

I know people say not to stress ect but i'm stressing! "deep breaths"

How are you guys getting up there and are you going to be staying the night? We should (if i get thru) have a night out.

Ah I'm sure you will get through - and I'm definately up for a night out! I'm going to be driving up the night before and staying in Aberdeen (have a few mates at uni there) to save a streesed out early start!

I'm just going up on the day cos I'm on placement on the thursday, think i'm getting a lift up but not too sure yet. I'll have to go home the same day as well cos I'm working at 9 on the saturday morning.

I am such a twit - i let my nerves get the better of me for my phone interview :'(

I was all ready and prepaired then i just went kinda blank, like i knew what i wanted to say just not how to say it. Think i was honest in some of my answers though just hoping that she maybe realised that i was nervous. I'm kinda angry at myself for stressing and getting all tongue tied.

Well now all i have to do is wait for an email :-\

hello Im new. I got invited to Aberdeen too! Im so excited. I wish it was sooner. How is everyone getting there? I was going to get the train from Stirling but the first train doesn't get to Aberdeen till 8.45. That's definatly cutting it to fine, eh? Nice to meet everyone! x

Im applying for the summer programme.. i had a face to face interview with Jason about 3 weeks ago after a presentation in John Moores University in Liverpool.. I passed that and i have a second/final interview on November 14th.. im applying for the lifeguard! fingers crossed ill be out there at the end of May!!!!!!!!!!!
