I just had my phone interview-- I think I kind of messed it up, but we'll see how it goes. I kind of expected it to go not great because I get really nervous talking on the phone, more so than in person. So we'll see.

Oh no! I take it you mean your gap year is beginning now and your not going to uni until next year?

And suomyno, you had your interview already!! Wow that was early, what sort of stuff did they ask you? I'm sure you did ok, I felt the same last year!

Well, we'll see how it goes. Still feeling not great about it but I'm trying not to worry and just wait to hear about the F2F. It was pretty quick; verifying the information I gave, asking why I wanted to work for Disney, what I think people gained from doing the program, and asked how I would respond if a customer was not satisfied with their meal. How would I feel about rooming with people, particularly when they come from different countries/cultures. I think that's it, but I kind of blanked during the interview due to nerves (as I said, I get super nervous talking on the phone.)

I'm from Stoke-on-Trent, how about you? When did you send your application off? And have you been contacted yet for a phone interview?
Where would be your dream work location?

Well, just heard from Kristen- it's a no-go for the f2f this year. I'm bummed, but kind of expected it with how the phone interview went. Here's to next year going better and hopefully making it all the way through :)

Well on the bright side, atleast you've learnt from your mistakes for next time!

And tinkerbeth and GXB977, just to say, I'm Hazel and I'm from the UK. Wolverhampton, so pretty close to Stoke-on-Trent, but I go to uni in Lincoln.
I've sent my application off, sent it on the first day! But we won't hear back til at least October, that's the way it was last year.

    Hey everyone

just literally read through the entire forum page and am definitely psyched up by everyone's excitement!

My name is Becca and I did the ICP in 2009 and applied for ICP 2011 at about the end of June- waiting to hear is driving me mad and I'm guessing us UK people won't be hearing about phone interviews for a while (Grrrrrrrr!)

I noticed a few people were talking about applying for character performer which was what I did in my last program so if anyone has any questions about the role i'd be more than happy to help!

ICP 2009 was the best 2 months of my life so far so keeping everything crossed that I get to go back!

Wishing everyone the best of luck with their applications- lets hope we all get in (and with a little pixie dust I'm sure we can!)

    lovexxxx :)

cool ! :) with character performer are you one of the princesses or someone in a costume?

no unfortunately ICPers don't get to do princesses or any face characters because we're simply not there long enough- we just get to do costumed. Sucks a little bit because I always harboured a desire to be Alice in Wonderland but oh well- costumed is still A LOT of fun!

Hazel hi! Nice to meet you. I go to uni in Birmingham aswell which is like, a stone's throw away from Wolvs so maybe we could arrange to meet one day! You say it was the same last year? Did you apply last year? Were you successful? If so what was your experience like and if not, why do you think you didn't get in? Sorry about all of the questions but I'm just so interested! Tinkerbeth? Are you there? Lol.
Becca! Character performing sounds so good, but I don't think Summer Work Experience people from UK can apply for that? Did you get to be in the parades and what not? Were you not too hot in your uniform? Haha.
    Lovely to hear from everyone.

Hey hey lovely to meet you!

Firstly, not that I'm biased... but character performing is amazing though it really depends which characters you are 'hanging out' with. I'm not sure they take many ICPers as characters- in my year for my start date last year there were only 5 of us UK people in training together. Essentially our training length is the same as any other job on property so I suppose it doesnt matter that they give some ICPers the role but anything that involves extra training seems to be a no go which includes shows and parades (though I think you can be scheduled to hold ropes at the end of the parade as you follow it) the closest I came to a parade was this little thing that happens at Animal Kingdom closing where 3 characters role up ontop of a jeep style float, have a little dance party at park entrace and then get escorted off. It doesn't sound like much but it was one of the highlights of my summer!

Was it too hot??..... well technically I'm obliged to say that because the characters a real they only experience the same heat the guests experience though hhypothetically if someone was dressed up like the real characters I guess you could best describe it like being in a sauna... you get used to it. A lot of characters work indoors anyway! :)

anyway love and pixie dust to all and speak soon xxx

Ah yes! We will have to meet, it's only a short train ride! I will let you know when I'm back in Wolves.
I applied last year, I got through to the f2f and then I got waitlisted and unfortunately found out in January that there would not be a space for me. Last year I'm fairly sure was the first year they had a waiting list in the UK. I think I didn't get in because I was not prepared for the f2f interview at all, I didn't really know what questions they would ask me, I didn't think it through, I wasn't out there enough. I have a much more thorough idea of what I would like to do there/what I would say in my interview this time around. Although one question that I know would still stump me would be, what three words describe you. Also, another thing is that I wasn't open to enough options, the more jobs you put down that you are willing to do, the higher chance you will get chosen.
You can be a character performer if your from the UK, but you have to be within a certain height bracket, ie, really tall or fairly short! lol.
