Yeah, that's what I heard too which is why I'm not getting my hopes up. But that's okay, any other role would be just as fantastic!
I'm sorry that your friend didn't like Canada. I hope if they ever come back, they have a better experience...it can be really amazing, and there's tons of really awesome stuff here if you know where to look! I mean, I love it - but then again, I was born here haha. I actually go to school in Toronto, and it's always so crowded with gazillions of people... not like my hometown, it's much smaller here :)... it's different, but I don't mind, I've always been more of a big city girl anyways (not that I don't love the country either, but yeah...)
I assume London would be similar, but with much prettier architecture! The closest I've gotten to London is Italy (and that's still pretty far away!), and I loved it!
You're so lucky you're getting full time hours, I have like 8 hours a week where I work because we're so overstaffed. It's brutal trying to save up for uni in September. And definitely, I would love to go there one day (it's on my list of places to go, I have so many! I am so traveling the world before I die xD!)
Anyways, you guys are going to think I'm crazy, but the answer to the last question is no. I've never once been to Disney World. Closest I've been is Chicago (great place, but again - still quite far away!) I've always wanted to go, but my family hates the idea of it. They're not Disney fans in the first place (which I absolutely love Disney, so it's obvious why I'd want to go XD) and they'd rather go somewhere with less line-ups and more tanning on the beach, which is nice but it gets boring after a while! Another reason why I love the idea of WDW - there's so much to do, I don't think I'd ever get bored. Granted, it's still a job, but it'll be so much better than staying here to work (even though I get paid less)...
So, to sum that long paragraph up, this is probably the best opportunity I'd have to actually get to go and see it for myself.
But, at least I know something about it - those vacation DVDs are really helpful! XD
Basically, this will pretty much be a whole new experience for me, and I'm definitely excited!

Hi Olivia! congrats on applying - i am almost there! hope you make it this year!
I'm Danielle, also a Toronto girl like emmdee. I've actually been considering doing an exchange to England for a year (or at least the UK) - love the culture and the humour! went to London back in 2000, just before i immigrated to Canada, and really enjoyed the experience :)

that's too bad that you haven't had the opportunity yet to visit wdw emmdee - hopefully this will be your shot. i've been fortunate enough to have gone 3 times, and as cheezey as it sounds, it really does feel like a home-away-from-home! the smell, the food, the sights are an amazing experience and even though i'm not exactly a kid anymore, i still get super excited thinking about going back! ;D

Hi Danielle, nice to meet you. Glad you liked London, I love it here too. So you immigrated to Canada, where are you originally from? So you're both from Canada! That's very cool, I haven't been to much of your part of the world yet, apart from my two visits to WDW when I was 9 and again when I was 13. Both times were amazing! I'd love to explore more of America and Canada, but I want to experience everything so need a long time in one place. That's why the 90 day Disney program appeals to me so much, the 4 weeks in total that I've spent at WDW hasn't been enough to experience every ride, every attraction, everything on offer...and then there's Universal Studios to get through. I wanna go on all those crazy rollercoasters, I'm a real thrill-seeker :D Also, there's so much more that's been added since the last time I went there, the Harry Potter for one thing! I'm a huge HP fan so I'm dying to see that, although Hogwarts will look oddly out of place in the Florida sunshine...
I hope we all get it, it will be so awesome to already know people before we arrive ;D I can't wait for to get the ball rolling with the interview process and everything, I drift off into dreams at work every day about what I'm going to say in my interview, who I'm going to invite to my leaving party, how I'm gonna celebrate my 21st birthday when I'm out there...
Dangerous thoughts I suppose, but I've always been told if you visualise something enough it comes true!
Also emmdee, I LOVE those vacation DVDs, I have like 5 of them from different years haha.

Thanks allsorts3, that's awesome you've been to the T-Dot 3 times and i'm glad you loved it... previously to moving there for school I had been there maybe that many times as well, and I don't live that far away from it xD, it sucks when your parents refuse to travel!

And aww, I have to thank you too Dani.ve! I hope you're right :D.. and I hope the same for you (cause then you'll get to spend a whole 3 months there!) I get just as excited whenever I think about getting to go!

And I def agree with all you said OliviaSmith! I want to experience WDW at its fullest (or at least try my best, I can be quite chicken when it comes to rides, haha!) I also would love to visit Universal's Harry Potter, but that will of course depend on who'd want to go with, transportation, etc. Actually, what I would REALLY love to do if possible is go on a Disney cruise, I've heard we get discounts, but there are several things that are preventing me from doing it. Not only will I probably not have the money saved up by then, but I've heard you only get onboard if there's room (they take the regular guests first), and then of course there's the whole trying-to-get-days-off scenario, and then I would have to figure out my way to the boarding deck and back when the cruise is over (if that's what it's called? Just traveling there and back might be trivial but considering it's a strange town i've never been to, it's not to me), and of course people to come with me because I wouldn't want to go alone! So, in short, that won't likely be happening, and I'll probably have to wait until uni graduation at least, save up, and pay full price...and then try to convince my family to come along (oh what fun that will be! XD)

Anyways, minus that big long story, if anyone cares to know, I shall be officially applying by the end of the week - it looks like the place I interviewed at isn't calling me back, and we're having company for the next three days so I'll probably be hitting the apply now button this weekend! So yay - I'm very excited. Again, good luck to everyone (even though we won't be hearing anything for a while, I think Sept... right?)

I hear about the next step within the nex 4 weeks. however I'm out of town beginning in august and won't have access t phone or internet. I'm unsure if I should email them back and let them know this. Or just wait to see if they contact me before then.

haha, yeah i have to say i've really enjoyed toronto so far! (moved from ottawa last year). and to answer your question Olivia, i'm originally from South Africa, been in Canada for 10 yrs now!
I would LOVE to see the Harry Potter theme park!! i feel like, if the opportunity presents itself - we need to make it happen and plan a trip over there!! of course assuming we make it to florida first ;)

DisneySpike, I wouldn't worry too much about the internet/phone problemo...I sent my application last year on 3rd of August, after that I had no word until 21st September when they emailed to say my application was good enough to get me a telephone interview. I got another email on 8th October saying that I should be expecting the call within the next four weeks. Then a week later on 14th October I got an email linking me to the website where I could book a phone interview slot. So don't worry about missing out on anything much, they probably will be in touch around September/October. Although, if you're still worried, I'm sure it'd be fine to send them a little email.
Ah wow, South Africa, that's cool! At least providing we all get through, we can all go to the Harry Potter theme park together, it'll be awesome. I swear I think about this every day, even though we've got a long time to wait before we know about progress with the program! I can't wait!!

    Hi guys!

I've just applied for the ICP 2011 yay! My name is Steph and I'm from the UK. This will be the first time I've applied for the program and I'm already excited about it, although I'm sure that I won't even find out if my application has been accepted until the end of September!

Does anyone know when the face to face interviews are around, as I'm doing a study abroad exchange with my university to the US from mid Aug - mid Dec this year and I'm a bit worried that they won't interview me (if I even get that far) if I don't attend one of the interview days that they specify?

    Anyway, good luck to everyone!

stephmuir- I know they interview worldwide so if interviews are around that time you may be able to be interviewed elsewhere other than the UK. I don't know if it's a possibility but worth a shot?

Hi, thought I'd introduce myself too! Another Steph from the UK here :)
I'm going to be applying soon - haven't yet because I've got an interview at our local Disney Store on saturday so I'm going to wait to see if I get the job to put it on my cv!

I'm not the most outgoing person in the world but I love meeting new people and am great at teamwork/leadership, do you think it matters? That's what I'm most worried about! Work experience for me is fine I just hope they see through any nerves and find out how enthusiastic I am! (I only found out about this recently and literally had trouble sleeping I was so excited up about it - ha!)

    Thanks for any help :)

Hey Steph, I'm the same as you, not outgoing at all. But its fine, I got through to the face2face interviews last year and doing something like this really helped me swallow my reservations and just go for it. I met a lovely girl from my home town and we travelled there together, and then duringt he interview, I was very nervous but I just always thing to myself, "what the hey! I'll never see you again and if I get to do this its worth making myself a little bit uncomfortable" lol.
I read someone say on here once that at an interview there was a quieter girl and she said, "I may not be the most outgoing girl in the world but that doesn't mean I shouldn't do this job, it doesn't mean I won't try as hard and work as well as everyone else."
Where is your local disney story?

thanks alot for your reply Fleur! Glad to see I'm not the only one :)
My Disney store's in bristol - unfortunately I didn't get the job (I think there was something like 15 people applying for a couple of spaces) but they've asked me to come back for temporary work over christmas, so all is not lost!
Annoyingly I found out that you have to have been away at university for a year before you can take part on the summer work experience and as I'm on a gap year I'm not eligible! Guess that means I'll have to try next year instead! :(

    and Hi Kat :D
