I'm pretty sure that you can buy them before you get there, you just risk them not exactly matching the "Disney Look". Plus, it's room in your suitcase you could use for other things!

The shoes can be cheap, but it depends on comfort, i brought a pair from home that were fine

Can someone post some pictures on possible ideas for shoes?

Regarding the shoes, we didn't get any pictures to compare too, its best to take a look at your work location for specifics, but the shoe generally has to be full (no open toes/sling backs) all black with no markings and non-slip soles; but again it depends on your work location to style, as I have two friends in Merchandise over here, one is allowed to wear her dolly shoes (pumps) from home, but the other has had to go and buy shoes that support her ankle, so it all depends on where you work.

As for what money to bring, I brought £500 ($1000) dollars with me and I have spent $600 in the past two weeks (I arrived on the 6th April) Which has gone on Walmart, work shoes, food whilst out, a US cell phone and credit, bedding etc.. it all mounts up!!
This is before buying anual passes for parks like Universal/Seaworld too!

Also, I got my first paycheck on thursday, but you cannot cash them without a social security number, which we are going to get on tuesday - which is why they say bring enough money for the first two weeks - the Social Sec appoint is not schedualed until two weeks after you have arrived!!

The more you bring the better!
    xx

I wonder if anyone from the Canadian F&B has pictures of their shoes. If I can get them here it would be Much better. My aunt tends to get me thoese things so I can ask for it for my Christmas or Birthday present as I am getting thoese early before I go.

No matter where you work, you'll need polishable shoes though!

Really? Are you sure it takes that much time? When I went in feb 06 we went to social security on our second or third day! And it took months before we actually got our social security number... But we were able to cash the cheques if we showed our passport.

You can definately cash your paycheck at Publix and Partners bank (used to be called Vista bank) without a social security number/card. You cant at Walmart tho...

Really? Is that recently? Because we never had a problem when we was there... If that's the case I hope they give out the social security numbers a lot faster now... Some people only got their number in the end of the program... I'm glad I already have one!

Yeah, it would not be cool if you were working for weeks and couldn't cash your paycheck.
